Comforted Prayers

Summary:

Asuka begins to have a mental breakdown, but Happy Chaos was there to aid him. Things would begin to look better as they rekindled their past.

Work Text:

The night was anew, looming over his head like the sun, yet raking at his mind like a cloud. He was alone tonight.

Asuka R. Kreutz was left to rot alone in his own world on the moon. His own clone, R#, was on earth with the task to interview anyone who's stories hold value for a future talkshow episode. However, Asuka didn't appreciate the looming abyss, that was a dark loneliness, very much.

He stared off down the balcony of his room. A normal person would see the entirety of Tir Na Nög along with a beautiful view of Earth off into the distance, taking up most of the background view. However, Asuka only saw hell, and the shackles that clung to his wrists and neck which left scars and bruises across his soul. A hell he created and inflicted on himself. God wouldn't forgive him, so why should he forgive himself?

He ruined the lives of his colleagues, caused the deaths of so many unknowing japanese and took away their homes, and lost his master. How could these sins be forgiven when one of them is staring right at him. Right. He asked him over, didn't he?

A callouse hand obstructs the devil's view as he startles at the sudden touch, snapping his head back quickly as his puffy eyes peered at the being who broke the silence. He tried to lower his heart rate, yet instead caused himself to pant, trying to find any form of air. His body was rejecting it all, leaving his voice to be hoarse, his pupils shacking along with his breath as his mind began to spiral. His biggest mistake, the thing that haunted him since that day, was staring right back at him with it's cold bitter gaze. The eyes were crazed, yet calm all at once. Dark brown in color, but shined a light of a color unseen as the pupil began to dilate, a brow furrowing in what Asuka nearly thought was a sign of humanity left in that corpse of a man. The being cupped Asuka's cheek with one hand as the other reached for his hand, slowly leading it to their chest.

"Asuka, breathe. Do you feel my heartbeat? Memorize each beat, follow it like a stream, don't look away from me, okay?" The low rasp of the unwelcomed male spoke to Asuka, his thumb softly rubbing circles into Asuka's hand as he held it. The grayish cerulean skin of the other male contrasted Asuka's pale powder white skin that almost reflected the sun's light. Asuka's golden gaze widened, watching the male as he tried his best not to look away. His heart was pounding out of his ribcage. The feeling of his skin being torn by his rigid bones could be felt all across his chest, but the rhythm of the blue one's heart kept the physical noise down, reaching to his own heart as they shared a song.

"Chaos.. You shouldn't be here..,"

Before Asuka could finish his sentence, Chaos had shushed him with a gaze unknown by the man. Asuka had only seen that expression back before all of the sins had eaten him alive, before his fears became his ultimate failures and sins which he was now burdened with forever. Happy Chaos, the man who used to be his teacher, the man once known as The Original 200 years ago, was gazing into Asuka's eyes with such tender care, trust, and understanding. The man whom he once knew was gone, he thought. The Original was killed and this demonic man was the leftover corpse, yet his humanity tells a different story. His eyes showed affection, but fear all at once. When he was taking the Tome from Asuka almost 3 weeks ago, his eyes shined confidence and guilty, accompanied with nostalgic sorrow. Yet, in his eyes, they also showed innocence. The view of a being who doesn't understand the normalcy of others, of a life, who never got that luxury as they were raised as a tool instead of a person. He had no one to guide him through this life. No moral compose, no strong feelings to one thing or another, all except for one. He looked as if he was looking at somebody dear to him. Perhaps this was an illusion or maybe Asuka hallucinating, but no. Happy Chaos was holding his hand, humming to him as Chaos held an affectionate gaze that equally shared the same amount of fear that the other felt.

"Remember that promise I made, back at the abandoned church?" Chaos spoke, eyes softened as he gazed at Asuka. He looked almost identical to his past self, other than the skin and hair color, along with his fashion. If only his mind was the same.

"Heh..you mean from 200 years ago? How could I forget.." His voice was shaking as he spoke, his eyes losing focus as he laid his head back against the balcony.

How could he forget indeed, when that was when Asuka swore his soul to somebody.

The building they stood in was as dull as a knife, losing its colors and sacred holy power as it crumbled away. The stained glass windows having chips and holes within them, shining the setting sunlight onto the alter just before the seats that were now vacant of the worshippers who used to sit here everyday. Only two listeners were there now, one of which was standing by the alter and writing something on the old desk nearby whilst the younger one was looking around the area. It had overgrown vines and flowers littered around the floor, even some wrapping around the old columns. The vines elegantly hugged around all near as the flowers blossomed hope into the abandoned space.

"It's all so lonely now..," The young disciple spoke, softly picking up a mature flower as he twirled it across the soft skin of his finger. "Yet so much beauty lies within it.." He gazed at the flower in longing of some sort of understanding. His mind attempting to unravel it's secrets, but ultimately failing. He heard a quiet shuffle but he did not stir from his intense gaze with the flower. It was only him and the man society has deemed as The Original in this building, so it could've only been one person to make that noise. However, that still didn't stop young Asuka to be startled by someone looming over him, before wrapping an arm around the boy gently. The Original's other arm softly collided with Asuka's, before grasping the stem of the flower and softly taking it into his own hands. Asuka looked up at the man to see those cold eyes observing the flower, when a hint of a smile curled onto his chapped lips.

"Yes, it is beautiful. Maybe it was a good thing it was abandoned. It is unfortunate that it's alone, but at least it can thrive in peace." The Original spoke, with each word he'd flick the flower around in his grasp, before placing it back into the disciples with a hum.

"What if it didn't want to be alone? What if loneliness was it's greatest fear..What then, Master?" Asuka spoke suddenly with a strange urgency, gazing back at the man before him with a saddened look. It was a rhetorical question afterall, a silly one at that, but The Original simply chuckled. His arms found their way to Asuka's waist, and he pulled the shorter male into his embrace with a gentle hum. His thumbs rubbed circles into the disciples hips, albeit by accident as he didn't think his hands were so low, which made his face dust a soft red glow, but he simply stopped in his tracks and readied an answer.

"No matter what, it wouldn't be alone. You can't have a flower without a petal... Just like how you can't have me without you.." The Original spoke softly, resting his head upon the small one's shoulder as he layed out that last sentence very carefully. His eyes met Asuka's shocked pupils, a hint of fear in his own eyes as he tried to hold back the embarrassment. However, Asuka didn't push him away or laugh. Instead, he turned in the man's arms, softly pressing his hands upward from his side and resting onto The Original's chest, before slowly pulling his hood down. The Original did not protest or flinch, those usually cold eyes were full of an unfamiliar warmth, and it drew Asuka in.

"I'll always be your petal by your side, little flower..No matter what.." The man spoke again, a now sorrowful look on his face, yet his eyes still conveyed a strong sense of affection towards the one he was gazing upon.

"-I-I..Master..," Asuka stopped himself, pulling his petal closer to him, before softly pressing his lips against the other's. The taste of The Original was unforgettable. It was such a sweet, yet tender feeling, yet it had a hint of a bite to it. However, both were rather inexperienced at this, The Original being the most inexperienced. He felt so shy about this, having never done it, but he was over the moon. Asuka related, so they trecked that path together.

Once their connection was inevitably cut short, they gazed into each other's eyes, panting for air. The Original had such a goofy grin on his face, before planting gently pecks and kisses across Asuka's forehead. The small disciple smiled, his face flushed in embarrassment as he felt warmth all throughout his chest.

"Unless something bad happens..I will be by your side, no matter what..okay, Asuka?"

After that night, their bond became something much more powerful as it slowly became something much different.

Which made the ultimate decision and sacrifice so much harder for The Original. It was either try to stop his creation, or watch the one thing special to him, the one thing he was emotionally attached to, be killed before him and suffer that consequence for the rest of his existence.

From the blurr of his gaze, he noticed Chaos move, feeling a pair of warm arms around him as they gently pulled him close. When did his arms move to begin with? It felt like he was holding the boy's hand for hours..perhaps he is going crazy. He could hear something, a heartbeat, right by his ear, along with the warmth of the one above him. Asuka shamelessly rested his head deeper in the warmth, feeling his ear press against warm, yet soft skin that echoed that heartbeat.

"I promised, I'd stay by your side. I know I was the one that broke the promise but..," The blue one spoke soft, a lullaby of a whisper that purred melodies into the shaking one's ear. His voice cracked, almost sounding choked up as he tried to pull the words out and just say it.

The chaotic one's arms rested firmly around Asuka as he let out a breathy sigh, cradling the man and swaying with him side to side like an old rocking chair.

Asuka looked up and blinked, finally realizing what the blurred vision was for. He was at the verge of tears, and the moment he saw that expression on the man's face, he couldn't hold the tears back anymore. One tear fell onto his cheek, then accompanied by another. The man that he blamed himself for losing, the one who taught him all he knew, the person whom he adored and saw as his everything, was crying. He's never seen those eyes tilt in such a way, shine like glazed resin or swell and shake like they are now. How his brows furrowed and twisted at the same time as he struggled to breathe out those damned words that was working himself up so much. The vowels were blinding him, his voice strangling his thoughts as he looked down at the devil as if he was the only thing important. It tore Asuka's mind apart. He felt betrayed, by himself, by his mind, for being such a fool.

A thumb softly brushed the shed tears off Asuka's face, shaking from each curve of his pointer. The man sighed, softly smiling with a shaking brow, gazing tenderly into the devil's eyes.

How blind of you, Chaos.

"If all of humanity but you would be effected, I would've stayed..I know I abandoned you, I know you were all alone, I know I changed, but I'm still here. I still..care..for you...so..fucking..dearly..," Tears were rolling down his face again, but his expression didn't falter, instead he embraced Asuka, softly kissing away the tears that began rolling down the angel's face.

"I'm never leaving you like that again..it's not your fault..I'm here okay?"

Asuka twisted slightly in his arms, facing Chaos fully with an unreadable expression, until he cupped the blue one's cheeks and softly kissed away the tears. This left Chaos shocked, but he only chuckled with puffy eyes as he inevitably just held Asuka close, pressing their foreheads together.

"I want to recreate that promise..if it still means anything to you.." Chaos spoke, looking at Asuka in hopes for a response. Thankfully, he got one.

Asuka blinked, before smiling in such a way that Chaos has never seen before, until he pulled Chaos into an affectionate kiss. The blue man was shocked, but happily returned the affection. Their lips molded together in such a nostalgic way, as if they still remembered the shape and feeling of the other along with their taste. Asuka's doubt and fears were gone. They were washed away. His self blaming not so much, but he knew now that it was okay. Things would be okay eventually, he wasn't alone.

Once they disconnected their lips, they just knew by each other's eyes, that they had each other.

"If that's the case, then I promise to never let you go again, as long as I get some cuddles later..I missed you so much..Ori.." Asuka spoke softly, even using a little nickname he gave The Original a long time ago as being a little inside joke they had. The nickname in itself made Chaos' face turn a soft purple, his horns included as he laughed a little, before nodding and softly kissing Asuka's forehead.

"I missed you just as much, and I accept your terms, my little flower."
