Work Text:

Gentle hands card through wild blonde locks, holding Keigo in place as they kiss in the safety of Touya’s bedroom. They’ve been at it for a while now. Keigo supposedly came over to study with Touya but one peck became two and now, they’re both lying in bed making out.

It’s been a few weeks since the two of them started dating but Keigo still feels like he’s in some kind of fever dream. From hiding his feelings for years to making out with his crush on his bed, it’s still difficult for Keigo to wrap his mind around the fact that Todoroki Touya is his boyfriend.

He still gets shivers down his spine every time Touya brushes his hand against his and his heart soars when their fingers interlock. Keigo wonders if he’ll ever get used to having this much contact with Touya.

“D’you wanna get back to studying?” Touya mumbles against his lips, though they’re captured just milliseconds after the question is asked.

It takes a few more seconds before Keigo can actually answer his question.

“We probably should.”

Touya pushes himself up and rests on his elbows as he gazes down at Keigo. His eyes crinkle at the corner when he smiles and Keigo feels little butterflies all around his stomach.

He finds his hand reaching up with the goal of pulling Touya down for one more kiss when a little voice at the door stops them in their tracks.

“Are you guys almost done yet? I need Touya-nii to help me with my homework.”

The two freeze and their eyes widen in fear. It’s Touya who dares the first glance only to find Shouto standing by Touya’s door, his head peeking in through the gap.

Touya blinks. “How long have you been standing there, Sho?”

“I came over a while ago but you guys were still hugging, so I waited before coming back.”

“I… I see…”

The conversation just drops there with Touya at a loss for what to say.

Shouto doesn’t care though, he’s not even aware of the awkward tension in the room. “Are you guys gonna stop hugging?”

Touya pushes off Keigo and they both try to brush themselves off. But Shouto’s already seen everything so what’s the point really?

“Are you guys boyfriends or something?”

Keigo stomach flutters at the notion and he swears he sees the tips of Touya’s ears turn red.

“Ah, yeah,” Touya coughs. “We are.”

“Does Fuyumi-ne know?”

Touya squats down to Shouto’s level and puts a hand on his shoulder. “No, and you need to promise me that you won’t tell Fuyumi.”

“But Keigo-nii is Fuyumi’s friend, not yours.”

“Look, we just want to keep it a secret for now. I promise we’ll tell her eventually.”

Shouto pauses for a while, as if pondering the validity of what Touya said. His face scrunches up in confusion but there isn’t any disdain in his expression.

“Ok, but I still don’t get why it has to be a secret.”

Touya scratches his head and sighs. “I’ll make you more soba if you keep it a secret.”

Shouto’s eyes sparkle instantly. “You will?”

“Yes, now go to your room. I’ll go help you with your homework soon.”

Shouto nods and scampers off.

Once he’s gone, Touya shuts the door completely and rubs the back of his neck.

“Sorry, I should’ve locked the door.”

“It’s fine, we didn’t know he’d come in.” Keigo collapses onto Touya’s bed and groans. “Fuyumi’s gonna find out, isn’t she?”

Keigo loves Fuyumi. Fuyumi’s been his best friend since they were in middle school. Albeit, it was also around the same time he started crushing on Touya, but those two events were completely unrelated. Still, he didn’t want Fuyumi to think that he only befriended her to get to her brother. If anything, Fuyumi’s friendship was what led to Keigo’s crush.

Unfortunately, he’s never found the right time to tell Fuyumi about his crush. He was always either too nervous or Fuyumi was mad at Touya for something. And telling your friend that you have a crush on her brother when she’s pissed at said brother is not very socially appropriate. Keigo at least knows that.

And now, he’s waited too long. It’s been years since he started liking Touya and weeks since they started dating. Keigo knows that the longer he drags this secret out, the worse it’ll be, but he’s also terrified of what Fuyumi will say when she does find out.

He’s not sure if he could take Fuyumi being mad at him.

“Hey, I’ll just try to keep a closer watch on Sho.” Touya takes Keigo’s hand and gently rubs his thumb over it. “Everything will be fine, don’t worry about it.”

There’s a gentle sincerity in Touya’s gaze that calms Keigo’s nerves and lets him trust in Touya.

“Ok.” Keigo squeezes Touya’s hand.

Touya plants one last kiss on Keigo’s lips before pulling away.

“I need to go help Shouto with his homework now. Are you gonna stick around for dinner?”

Keigo shakes his head. “Nah, I think Fuyumi might find it weird if she finds out I came here without her.”

“True, I’ll see you out then.”

Touya accompanies Keigo down the stairs and to the front door. Before pushing it open for him, he wraps Keigo in a short embrace that ends too quickly for Keigo to react.

A grin tugs at Touya’s lips as Keigo flushes. “See you around.”

“Y-yeah, see you,” he says as he ducks his head down to hide his blush.

After that incident, the issue wasn’t brought up again. Touya figured the two of them were in the clear and didn’t think much of it.

A foolish move on his end .

“You’re dating Keigo-nii?!” Natsuo blurts out the moment Touya gets back from class a few days later.

Touya chucks his backpack at Natsuo in retaliation and grimaces. “Where’d you hear that from?”

Natsuo drops the bag on the ground and stomps after Touya. “Shouto told me. He said you guys were hugging in your bed!” Natsuo mimics quotation signs with his fingers.

Touya growls. He can’t believe he didn’t think this through. He only told Shouto not to tell Fuyumi but he completely forgot to consider the rest of the family.

“He was probably confused. We were just studying together.” Touya shakes his head.

Natsuo shoves a finger at him with a look of stupor on his face. “So it’s true! You two are dating!”

“What? I said we were just studying.”

“Why else would the two of you be hanging out together if you weren’t dating?!”

Curse Natsuo and his gifted brain. Heck, curse Shouto and his inability to lie while he’s at it.

Touya lets out a long sigh. “Ok fine, I’m dating Keigo.”

Natsuo lets out a scandalised gasp before Touya continues.

“We’ve been dating for a few weeks. You can’t tell Fuyumi.”

Natsuo stares at Touya in silence for a minute. “I have so many questions,” he says, narrowing his eyes.

“I don’t want to answer any of them.”

“But why didn’t you tell me? I could’ve kept it a secret!

Touya honestly doubts he could.

He sinks to his knees and buries his face in his hands. There’s no way Natsuo is keeping this to himself. “God, Fuyumi’s gonna find out any day now.”

“Hey!”

*****

To Natsuo’s credit, Fuyumi still hasn’t found out about Touya and Keigo’s relationship. Unfortunately, Touya was right about Natsuo not being able to keep this information to himself.

It happens one day when Keigo’s tagging along with Fuyumi and Rumi after school. They follow their routine of studying together in the Todoroki’s’ living room and everything seems to be going normally.

Touya’s hiding in his room, as per usual, and only comes down to get a glass of water

What isn’t really normal is how present his mother is.

Normally, his mother would give the trio space to focus on their studies and spend her time getting dinner ready. Today, however, his mother seems to be hovering around them, eyes glowing as she fixates on Keigo.

As much as Touya wants to head back up to his room (so that he can continue secretly texting Keigo), he’s a little worried about what his mother’s planning to do. Her eyes seem a little too devious for his comfort.

So Touya decides to linger in the kitchen, preparing himself a little snack as a guise while he eavesdrops. He has a really bad feeling.

“Thanks for the snacks, Todoroki-san,” he hears Keigo say when his mum drops in to give them some food. “I appreciate the hospitality.”

“Oh, don’t be so modest, Keigo,” his mother replies. Touya thinks that maybe he’s overthinking things and that there’s no way his mother of all people would make things uncomfortable or awkward for Keigo.

He’s just nervous about his family knowing despite Keigo’s request to keep things private. The two of them are so close to Fuyumi finding out that it just sends Touya into a spiral of anxiety. Surely, anxiety is all it is, there’s nothing about his sweet, sensible mother that Touya’s needs to worry about.

But no, just like the rest of his family, Touya’s mother, unfortunately, meets his expectations.

“Why don’t you call me mum?” She suggests in an overly perky voice.

Sounds of Keigo choking on his snacks reach Touya’s ears and he figures it’s time for him to rescue his boyfriend.

In the living room, he finds a flustered Keigo, a confused Fuyumi and a cackling Rumi. Meanwhile, his mum is still there, oblivious to the panic she’s caused.

“Oh, I don’t know,” Keigo forces out, nervously eyeing Fuyumi. “That seems a little informal on my end.”

“Don’t worry about it, honey. We’re all family at this point.”

Man , the way his mum is smiling so brightly almost makes Touya feel bad for ruining her fun.

“Oi, mum,” Touya calls out from the hallway. “You’re bothering them. Let them study, they’ve got finals coming up.”

He locks eyes with Keigo who sighs in relief having the heat taken off of him.

His mum pouts. “Fine, but you must stay for dinner. You too, Rumi.”

His mum doesn’t take awkward ‘no’s for an answer and Touya finds the two of them at the dinner table later that evening.

Fortunately, his mum behaves better during mealtime and is more focused on making sure Shouto is eating properly. Touya, trying to avoid being suspicious, sits himself in between Natsuo and Fuyumi, while Keigo stays between Rumi and Shouto.

Everything goes as per usual, Natsuo stuffing his face while Fuyumi chides him for it. Rumi and Keigo banter about whatever petty rivalry the two of them have going. Touya’s mum trying to get Shouto to eat more than just his soba.

It’s all going great, all going swell, Touya can’t sense any danger or risk, so he lets his guard down.

Like a fucking fool .

Shouto painfully swallows some green pepper that their mum forced him to eat, immediately rinsing the taste down with water. That satisfies their mum and she focuses on her own meal. Shouto looks around the dinner table, wide wonder eyed and notices Touya giving Keigo some weird looks. It almost seems like he’s smiling which is such a rare sight for Shouto. It reminds Shouto of how his dad sometimes looks at their mum.

He supposes it makes sense since Touya and Keigo have the same relationship as his parents.

And so a question pops into Shouto’s sweet, little head.

“So, Keigo-nii,” he innocently chirps, catching everyone’s attention. “When are you gonna get pregnant?”

*****

Since then, the happy couple decided that it would be better to hang out in Touya’s college dorm room where the Todoroki family can’t bother them and Keigo can’t be traumatised by Shouto’s innocently straightforward questions.

The room is nice. Quiet, cozy, not as spacious as the Todoroki household but it’s still bigger than Keigo’s room.

Touya gives Keigo his bed to sit on while Touya lies on the floor. There’s a second bed for Touya’s roommate but the two of them hardly cross paths except when they’re sleeping at night so Touya’s not too worried about him bothering them.

“It could be cute, y’know?” He muses, waving his hand around. “Tiny brats with your face, my eyes. I bet they’d be little heartbreakers.”

Keigo barely spares Touya a glance as he chucks a tiny bird plushie at his face. It lands in Touya’s hair instead.

“I never wanna think about that conversation ever again,” Keigo deadpans, pulling out his phone to snap a photo of the bird nested in Touya’s hair.

Touya grins and pulls himself up, folding his arms across Keigo’s lap. “You don’t think baby-making with me would be fun?” He tilts his head up just slightly, showing off the glint in his eyes as he enjoys watching Keigo’s face turn red.

Flustered, Keigo drops his gently pushes against Touya’s face. “W-we’re both guys. How would that even work?”

Touya’s lips pull at the edges as he excitedly wraps his arms around Keigo’s lower torso, pulling up his shirt slightly and shocking the younger one. He nuzzles against his stomach and plants little butterfly kisses along the exposed skin.

“Touya!” Keigo grabs a fistful of Touya’s white locks, but he doesn’t pull the older guy away. He squirms at the light kisses against his stomach, very slowly and teasingly trailing downwards.

Keigo’s breath gets caught his chest as Touya’s lips meet the hem of his pants. He lets out a little whine as Touya traces along the hem, no longer moving down but pressing very intentional pecks along it.

Touya looks up for a second, just to admire the red in Keigo’s cheeks.

“I can’t make babies with you,” he whispers, planting another kiss just below Keigo’s belly button. “But I can still show you how to have a good time.”

Touya’s hands trace back to the front of Keigo’s waist, coming to a stop by the buttons of his pants. Touya tugs a little at it, but his eyes remain locked on Keigo’s as he refuses to go any further, waiting for permission to do anything else.

Keigo feels his heart pound in his chest as he grips Touya’s hair. His stomach feels funny, tingly everywhere Touya leaves his lips. He wonders what it would be like to have his whole body feel like that. The thought is too tempting, curiosity overwhelming him as he dazedly nods his head.

Touya’s eyes immediately gloss over and his hands start to work at Keigo’s zipper. Keigo feels pressure and anticipation pooling somewhere in his body, somewhere lower, and his fingers grip tighter at Touya’s hair.

Just as Touya gets Keigo’s fly down, the door to Touya’s room swings open and covers the two in the hallway’s light.

Touya’s roommate, Geten, enters the room and fumbles with his keys to lock the door, not really noticing Touya. “Todoroki, you’re back? I thought you’d normally be with your boyfriend this time of…”

Geten looks up from his keys just to find the compromising situation Keigo and Touya are in. Touya’s face right in front of Keigo’s unzipped jeans and Keigo’s fingers laced through Touya’s white locks.

What a sight to see really. Definitely not every college-goer’s nightmare.

Geten sighs and reopens the door, locking it behind him as he leaves.

Keigo sighs into his hands and Touya just sighs in general.

*****

After getting walked in on so many times (twice, but who’s counting really?), Keigo’s kind of given up on making out with Touya. Who needs physical intimacy anyway when you could just have an innocent movie date at your boyfriend’s house?

Touya promised that no one would be home. His mum was taking Shouto to a play date with her mothers’ group, Natsuo had squash practice and Keigo said that Fuyumi and Rumi were going to be hanging out together. The Todoroki household would be completely empty and the two of them could finally get some privacy as a couple.

No mothers to hound them with snacks, no roommates to walk in on them, no little brothers to ask if they’re getting pregnant.

They could finally have a time of privacy, watching a movie that could lead to other things, who knows?

Touya turns out all the lights and draws the curtains in the living room, preparing a nice blanket for the two of them to share as they put on some romance film that they probably won’t end up watching.

Keigo snuggles up to Touya under the covers as the title sequence plays and Touya wraps an arm around Keigo’s waist.

Keigo tries to be little bolder, resting a hand on Touya’s thigh, catching his attention. A smirk tugs at his lips as he starts to move, the blanket shifting around them.

Then they hear the door open.

For fuck’s sake .

As Fuyumi steps into the living room, Keigo and Touya jump (literally jump) away from each other, landing on opposite sides of the sofa, Keigo almost face planting on the floor. When Fuyumi notices them, her face contorts in confusion because why is one of her best friends hanging out with her older brother without her?

“Keigo? What are you doing here?”

Keigo flusters, panicking as he fumbles to come up with an excuse. “I wanted to come hang out. But Touya was the only one home so he invited me to watch a movie with him.” He lets out a nervous laugh.

Fuyumi raises an eyebrow. “But I thought I told you that Rumi and I were hanging out.”

“I must’ve forgotten!”

“We told you right before school ended.”

“Did you now…” Fuck, Keigo is so screwed.

“Why don’t you watch the movie with us, Yumi?” Touya interjects, albeit too excitedly to seem normal.

Fuyumi shoots them one last stare before plopping herself down in the spot in between them, the blanket surrendered to her. She looks up at the screen.

“Since when do either of you watch romance?” She asks, narrowing her eyes at each of them.

“What do you mean? I love romance,” Touya lies.

“When I suggested Winter Sonata for movie night last month, you said you’d rather gouge your eyes out.”

Touya’s got nothing.

“I suggested it!” Keigo tries to save, giggling nervously as he wraps an arm around her shoulders. “You and Rumi kept talking about this one, I couldn’t help but be curious.”

Fuyumi pauses. “I guess that’s believable.”

Keigo and Touya let out a collective sigh of relief, leaning back into the sofa as Fuyumi immerses herself into the film. Keigo’s phone vibrates in his pocket and he finds a text from Touya.

[Touya <3]: I thought you said she’d be with Rumi??

[Keigo]: That’s what she said! Idk why she’s back so soon

[Touya]: We can’t just ask her, can we?

[Keigo]: IDK

“Why are you guys both on your phones? I thought you wanted to watch this movie,” Fuyumi says when she looks over at each of them.

“Roommate emergencies!”

“Food delivery!”

They both exclaim at the same time.

“Ooh! What are you ordering?” Fuyumi excitedly glances over at Keigo’s phone.

“No!”

Keigo chucks his phone across the room and the glass shatters as it slams against the wall and hits the floor. The three of them stare at the sight, mouth gaping and Keigo’s sanity probably crumbling to pieces.

“I think this was a bad idea,” Touya says.

Keigo sulks. “I think so too.”

*****

Keigo managed to convince the commission that he broke the phone on accident (technically not a lie) and that the next one wouldn’t suffer the same fate. Fuyumi was a little harder to convince. She was baffled by Keigo’s actions, but even after an hour of questioning, she couldn’t get anything out of him and let him off with a raised eyebrow.

The deception sat horribly with Keigo.

The not-so-happy couple finds solace at a burger joint the next day. Touya can’t stay for too long because he’ll have to go for a make-up class in the evening. Keigo’s feeling dejected that he can’t find a peaceful moment to enjoy with his boyfriend. Of course, he’s endlessly grateful for the warmth and love his family provided, he just thinks that maybe all this effort isn’t worth it.

“Maybe I should just come clean to Fuyumi,” Keigo suggests as he fiddles with his fries.

Touya looks up from his own meal. “You sure that’s what you want? If it’s about the phone, I can get you a new one.”

“It’s not about the phone. I guess I just feel drained from trying to keep this secret.” Keigo sighs. “Besides, I don’t really like lying to Fuyumi.”

He never wanted to lie to her and he really wants to be able to talk about his love life to his best friend. He just hopes that she won’t be too mad at him for keeping it a secret this long.

“If that’s what makes you happy, I’ll go along with it.” Touya reaches across the table and places his hand over Keigo’s. “Do you want me to do it or…”

Keigo shakes his head. “It should be me. I was the one who said we should keep it a secret.”

“Alright. Let me know how it goes. I’m behind you all the way.”

*****

When Keigo calls Fuyumi later that night, his heart beats so quickly that he almost can’t feel his chest. Confessing to Touya wasn’t even as nerve wracking as this, but Keigo needs to do this. If for anything, his respect for Fuyumi.

The dial tone rings a couple times before Fuyumi picks up.

“Kei! You got your new phone-“

“Fuyumi, I need to tell you something, and I want you to hear me out before you get mad,” Keigo blurts out without even letting Fuyumi finish her sentence.

There’s a beat of silence on the other end before Fuyumi responds.

“Uh, sure? Is everything alright?”

It’s now or never . If he chickens out now, who knows how else Fuyumi would find out? There’s no way she would ever trust him again, he has to tell her now.

Keigo takes a deep breath. “I’m dating your brother…. Touya to be exact. Not Natsuo, he’s too young. Definitely not Shouto either.”

“Kei…”

“And I know this must be sudden for you, and honestly some of it has been sudden for me too. But the truth is I’ve liked him for years now. Probably since the two of us first started hanging out. I know how it sounds but I promise I didn’t become your friend you just to get to your brother.” Keigo paces the floor, his hands gesturing wildly to a Fuyumi who can’t even see him across the phone.

“Keigo…”

“I truly, genuinely value our friendship and I always have. And I’ve always been so terrified of losing you as a friend which is why-“

“Keigo,” Fuyumi cuts in, firmly putting a stop to Keigo’s rambling. “I already know all this stuff.”

Keigo stills in his room, his feet rooted in place as his jaw hangs wide. “You what?”

Fuyumi continues. “I know everything. Well, except that last bit. You should know that I’d never leave you just because you like my brother.”

“Hold on a second. What do you mean you know everything?”

“It was pretty obvious. The both of you have been acting so weird lately. And you were always looking at him everytime you came over, so I kinda pieced it together,” Fuyumi sighs. “I could never hate you over something like this, I just wanted you to tell me yourself.”

It’s like a cinderblock was being lifted off of Keigo’s shoulders. All the secrets and lying were for nothing and Fuyumi is still his friend.

“I’m sorry for not telling you sooner.”

“No, I get it. It has been a little weird knowing that you’re dating my brother.” Fuyumi sighs. “Honestly, what do you even see in him?”

There’s a light-heartedness in her words that puts Keigo fully at peace, knowing that his friendship with Fuyumi is secure.

Keigo smiles. “Thanks for being my friend, Fuyumi.”

“Thanks for being mine.”

*****

Keigo nestles under Touya’s arms in the Todoroki living room. They’re enjoying the air conditioning with Fuyumi as Touya grills her on how she found out about them.

“So Shouto didn’t say anything?” Touya asks for the third time that day.

Fuyumi rolls her eyes. “For the last time, no! And I can’t believe you told him before me!”

“We didn’t tell him anything! He looked into my bedroom while we were hanging out.”

Fuyumi deadpans. “Hanging out.”

“Shut up!” Touya grabs a cushion and chucks it at Fuyumi. Fuyumi catches it and throws it back at Touya.

“It’s not like want to hear about you defiling my best friend!”

Keigo sighs. “I’m right here.”

“You better tell me if he’s not treating you right, Keigo. I’ll beat some sense into him if he does anything to hurt you.”

Touya scoffs. “I’m your brother. Why aren’t you on my side?”

“It’s because you’re my brother that I’m not on your side.” Fuyumi scoffs.

Touya poises to throw another cushion at Fuyumi when Shouto enters the room. His bright heterochromatic eyes look around the room and find Keigo nestled under Touya’s left arm while the right one aims a pillow at Fuyumi.

“Can I tell Fuyumi-ne that you were hugging Keigo-nii in bed now?”

Fuyumi looks scandalised, Touya releases his pillow and Keigo chooses to pass away.

***Bonus***

A couple days later, Keigo finds himself on a double date. He’s trailing slightly behind the group as Touya and Fuyumi bicker about which movie they’ll be watching. Meanwhile, Rumi backs Fuyumi up like the loyal, new girlfriend she is.

… Girlfriend.

“So… I know I never mentioned my crush on Touya,” he says as the three turn their attention to him. “But were you guys ever gonna tell me you were into each other?”

Fuyumi’s face turns red while Rumi sports a grin.

“I didn’t want to make the friend group awkward,” Fuyumi confesses.

At the same time, Rumi looks pointedly at Keigo. “Tit for tat.”

Touya’s just making gagging noises next to Fuyumi, earning him a whack on the head.

Keigo ignores that interaction, still staring bewildered at Rumi and Fuyumi’s interlocked hands. “How did it even happen? I never noticed anything!”

“Yeah, but you never noticed that Touya was into you so it all checks out,” Rumi mocks.

Before Keigo can pounce at her, she pulls Fuyumi into a run and the two dash away towards the cinema.

A warm hand grasps his and Touya smiles, nodding in the direction the other two ran off in.

Keigo grins back and chases after the the other with Touya right behind him.
