Watching Kaito sitting on the ground, struggling to keep himself upright while dozing off, was utterly miserable.
He's always roaming, haunting, watching over them. Looking and staring and only piping up when he has something to say to Mafuyu.
Pathetic.
Rin walked up to him. She hesitated kicking his side, but instead bent down and lightly tapped his shoulder.
His head snapped in her direction so quickly she briefly thought he must've broken something.
"What do you want?"
Rin doesn't really know how to word it that well. To be your pillow is probably too straightforward.
"You look stupid not being able to nap. Let me help."
Sure. That works.
Kaito gives her the most incredulous look she's ever seen on him, like she's stupid and she says stupid things to his face and that's all he'll know her for starting now.
"Come on." she says, sitting down and dragging him along with her. Kaito is ridiculously tall, but if she makes him fall against her, she can manage just fine.
Kaito's head drops in Rin's lap, he makes no sound.
"You're not more comfortable than the ground."
Except his bitching and whining, obviously.
"Shut your mouth, this'll still be better for you."
"I don't need to sleep."
"No, but you clearly want to, so stop being annoying already."
Kaito doesn't move. Rin thinks she imagines him nuzzling into her thigh a little bit.
"Next time, just go ask someone for a blanket or something. I might look stupid but you look desperate."
She punches his shoulder, "Go to sleep or I'll make you."
He does. Her legs go sore way quicker than she expected.
She'd do it again.
