Summary
Sometimes, Evan remembered the cold, lonely life he'd led before his death. A life of being bullied by his own older brother, a life where the light in it had been snuffed out after his little sister went missing, a life where he knew his sister was dead instead of "missing". A life where his mother had left them, and then gone and died. A life where his father didn't love him and beat and hit and yelled and abused.
A life of misery. And tears. So many tears.
A life of pain that ended in agony.
The bite of '83. The way the jaws of his own father's beloved creation had closed around his head, his brother laughing as he held him in place.
His brother, had gone silent only a few seconds later, as Evan felt the crunch of his own skull caving in. The world had gone black, but he'd been alive still. He died months later, in a hospital bed, trapped in a coma with endless nightmares until his overworked young heart gave out.
His brother had been there that day. Begging for Evan's forgiveness. Michael had been his name, Evan remembered. Elizabeth had been his sister's.
But that was the past. That was his life alive. He now had a new life dead.
