Work Text:

taehyung arrived to their table with a new person. typically, jungkook wouldn't mind, taehyung always brought new friends to their table, but they wouldn't last for too long due to the two best friends being oddly weird and rude (jungkook's part, it wasn't that he was trying he just came off as an asshole to everybody it just happened). so, when he arrived with a friend to their table at first jungkook didn't mind at all. the guys name was park jimin, he had dyed brown hair and the brightest smile he had ever seen. he was cool for the first few weeks. jungkook would brush his presence away, because honestly jimin wasn't that big of a deal to him.

jungkook didn't want to sound cheesy, he never was the one to develop feelings much less admit them, but when jimin burst through the doors of their first period class drenched head to toe jungkook's heart dropped to his stomach in a painful guilty way.

jimin was panting, shoes squeaking against the tiled floor. his books wet from the heavy rain outside. jungkook wanted to puke.

the class was silent as jimin made his way to the teachers desk. jungkook could tell he was flustered and embarrassed to have arrived wet from the rain. he didn't spare the younger a single glance as the teacher took the tardy slip from his hands. there was a look of pity on her face when she told him to go sit down. it all kind of hurt jungkook.

he forgot the agreement they had together about jungkook picking jimin up from home since he didn't have a ride to school. the moment he burst into their class jungkook had flashbacks to their conversation yesterday. he had no reasonable explanation for leaving jimin waiting and he bet if he checked his phone he'd have multiple texts from him asking when jungkook would pick him up. jungkook felt like shit and he felt like bigger shit at the thought that he had no right to feel like shit when jimin was drenched.

he wasn't sure whether to approach the elder. to be quite honest, he didn't want to face jimin's wrath or disappointment. he had never in his few months of knowing jimin seen him angry, and it made jungkook feel even worse than before. he really didn't want to be the one to cause jimin to be angry or maybe cry (he looked like an angry crier, which was even worse than someone who was violent when angry. at least jungkook could defend himself if they decided to throw punches. how would he react if he saw tears? the thought of that just made jungkook all awkward and lost).

after a few minutes the class went back to its normal chatter. it was a work day and students typically wasted the time to talk to each other more than work. jungkook shot a few glances at jimin who was staring at his book as if it just insulted his whole family. he just sat there completely frozen. jungkook frowned deciding that maybe it was best for him to approach jimin and ask for forgiveness. he wasn't sure what to say, he dropped his stuff in front of jimin snapping him out of his trance. he awkwardly sat down trying to gauge out what jimin was thinking.

jimin didn't greet him with a polite smile like he always did, instead he looked up at jungkook expressionless, and that was all it took for him to wish he had a time machine to begin the day again. "jimin, i am so sorry," jungkook began, "i forgot and i have my phone on silent. i didn't mean to leave you hanging."

jimin didn't reply, instead he just kept staring at jungkook as if he was planning ways to make him suffer. he finally opened his mouth, "you owe me lunch for the whole week or else i'll never forgive you."

jungkook almost sighed in relief, but he stopped himself. he wasn't sure why he was so relieved to have known jimin forgave him but somehow he was.

jungkook labeled that day 'the time i discovered how forgiving park jimin is.'

he wished that was the end of the story, that there was nothing else to say about jimin, however jungkook could give anyone various reasons why the story hadn't ended yet.

when taehyung met jimin, they became inseparable. they were each other's halves, they'd finish each other's sentences and read what they had in mind like some weird lovey dovey couple, except they weren't a couple (the thought of them being a couple made jungkook want to gag. it was like incest). they were just two dorks who were probably platonic soulmates.

it was disgusting and jungkook was always third wheeling when they were around. as if they were the ones who knew each other since they were ten not jungkook and taehyung.

jungkook would never admit he was jealous but he was, and it was pretty obvious. the thing was, he wasn't sure who exactly he was jealous of. was he jealous of jimin taking his best friend away? or jealous of taehyung? or jealous that he wanted something like that too?

for a while he convinced himself he was jealous of jimin.

also, for a while he had a small crush on taehyung. he reasoned with himself that maybe he was jealous because jimin started to get closer to taehyung more. it all made sense in jungkook's mind. there had been a few times he thought that taehyung was cute, and a few times they almost kissed each other, so it all made sense. he settled with he had a crush on taehyung.

both jimin and jungkook sat in silence. jungkook played with his cafeteria teriyaki that was cut up hamburger pieces, tasteless rice and teriyaki sauce. it was the only good thing on the menu that day, jungkook actually kind of liked it and low key always looked forward for the days the lunch ladies made it.

there was a semi awkward silence surrounding them, but jungkook refused to acknowledge it. he could tell jimin was very aware of it by the way he avoided eye contact and occasionally moved too much in his seat.

they both waited for taehyung to arrive and break the ice. he was always an expert at that. jungkook guessed taehyung hadn't suspected the slight dislike he had towards the elder. he wanted to keep it that way, he really wasn't up for friend counseling hosted by taehyung. jungkook could tell jimin wasn't up for that either.

jimin finally said something, "you like taehyung."

jungkook was a little taken aback by the sudden statement. he scrambled for words, "yeah," it was a lame response. at least it was something though. he wanted jimin to know that it was true. he did like taehyung, but why did it make him feel wrong?

jimin nodded, his eyes landing on his food, "oh," it was barely audible.

friday nights were reserved for both childhood friends. they occasionally hung out at each others houses wasting their time consumed in video games or on bed scrolling through the internet and every once in awhile sharing out a funny joke they read.

friday nights were reserved for taehyung and jungkook.

not taehyung, jungkook, and jimin.

jungkook was a little irritated that taehyung thought it was okay to invite jimin without informing him, because the next thing he knew he was grumpily going through his phone while both taehyung and jimin danced to a girl group song (jungkook was trying so hard to not let his eyes linger towards them both. the first time they did, he'd start with watching taehyung then transition to watching jimin. he wondered why jimin was more interesting, he guessed it was because he was used to watching taehyung dance and not jimin).

jimin would steal curious glances at jungkook. it only put him on edge. anymore platonic soulmate bullshit by tae and jimin and jungkook was convinced he might just explode in front of the two elders. didn't they have enough of each other? why couldn't jungkook have taehyung all by himself without jimin putting himself right in between the two like he belonged there? everything was just putting jungkook down. he didn't want to sound like a pussy, but he really wanted to go home. at least there he could be sad over being ignored in peace with no pop songs interrupting his depressing monologue in his head.

he continued pretending the contents on his phone were more interesting than the rolls of their hips. he would join in but he was in a sour mood, he didn't feel like putting the other two in a shitty mood too.

finally after a while of dancing they were tired. jimin tried to involve jungkook into the conversation, it only resulted in a very irked jungkook. he could smell the pity emitting from the smaller boy.

jungkook got it, he felt bad for stealing taehyung away from him, but could he please be less obvious?

eventually taehyung had to go home, leaving jungkook and jimin alone in the living room of the taller boy's house. they sat in silence, waiting for jimin's mom to pick him up. they'd peek out the window on their right hoping jimin's mother would save them from their awkward interaction.

jimin moved in his seat, an indication that he wanted to voice something in his mind. jungkook raised an eyebrow at him for encouragement to spit it out. jimin set his lips in a straight line, looking away from jungkook.

"i don't like taehyung, if that's what you think," jimin said. he fidgeted with his fingers, finding the edge of the table more interesting than jungkook's face.

the younger thought the reassurance would make him feel better, like now that he knew maybe he'd have a small slot of a chance to be with taehyung. however jungkook didn't feel a thing and it scared him a little, so he opted with a reasonable explanation to it, "you're lying."

jimin's eyes flickered up at jungkook in shock. he opened his mouth, eyes wide probably from what jungkook had said. jimin was unsure of what to say back.

it was all the confirmation jungkook needed. he ignored the disappointed feeling in the bottom of his stomach (he told himself it was because it meant taehyung would probably choose jimin over him).

"i'm not lying!"

jimin wanted to say more but before he could a car appeared in jungkook's driveway. jungkook peaked from his window. he was glad the conversation was over. "is that your mom?"

"yeah," jimin gathered his things and headed to the door. he looked back at jungkook who was reaching for the remote control, not one bit interested in walking him out and saying goodbye. jimin paused deciding whether to say one more thing before leaving.

he chose not to.

jungkook was disappointed.

when jungkook kissed taehyung, they were at the younger's house. it was a pretty nice day, the sun was shining, occasionally a gust of wind would slither its way in through the small opening in the window. it was all great.

jungkook seemed at peace, it would have been all perfect if they weren't studying.

taehyung read through a few story problems out loud for both of them to hear. his tone clearly showing how tired he was of studying. he sighed once he finished reading, "let's take a break. i'm bored," he shut the book throwing it near his back pack. he then proceeded to lay beside jungkook.

they both stared at each other agreeing that studying was boring, they'd much rather be doing something else.

they laughed for no particular reason. after their laughter died down they went back to staring at each other. taehyung wore a sweet smile on his face. jungkook was content and warm thanks to the smile.

taehyung moved closer to him. his eyes then laid on jungkook's lips. he suddenly found his lips quite endearing

he felt his heart quicken its pace. he suddenly became conscious of the humid air, and his sweaty palms curled up into fists. taehyung chose him after all.

they met each other halfway. taehyung tasted of syrup and french toast. they moved their lips in sync. tae placed a hand on jungkook's neck drawing him closer and letting his fingers thread through his black hair.

the younger wanted more, he gripped onto the elders hips, enjoying the way tae's fingers scratched at his scalp in a pleasant way.

the sound of lips moving against each other echoed his room. he wasn't sure whether he liked it or not.

the kiss was slow at first, then it gradually became aggressive. soon taehyung rolled his hips against jungkook's, bubbling a moan in the bottom of his throat.

taehyung tasted of syrup and french toast, and for some reason it wasn't enough.

he settled with it anyway.

jimin didn't say a single word when jungkook seated himself, instead he continued eating his salad filled with excessive amount of dressing.

the black haired boy pretended it didn't offend him. he should have been used to it by now, but it always took him by surprise how quiet jimin was near him, as if jungkook would explode if he just pressed the correct button.

a few minutes after, taehyung greeted jimin with a grin on his face before pecking jungkook on the lips.

jimin looked between the two in bewilderment. jungkook noticed the tint of hurt in his eyes but decided not to comment nor think about it. "a-are you two together?" jimin asked.

taehyung's eyes formed those pretty crescents on his face, "are we?"

"yeah," was all jungkook said. it felt wrong.

"yep! we're together," taehyung said, his excitement filled the entire cafeteria but somehow it didn't make jungkook feel any better.

jimin plastered a smile on his face, "that's great," any more words and his voice would have wavered. jungkook knew that. he ignored the guilt crawling its way on his skin.

jimin didn't come to school the next day.

jungkook forced himself to believe he had nothing to do with why he didn't come to school. he continued the day with his fingers laced around taehyung's pretending everything was okay.

once he was finally home he sent jimin the homework from first period. he hoped it'd spark a conversation, but he only thanked him and nothing more.

it pissed jungkook off a little, he wasn't sure why. it wasn't like he expected them both to talk like they needed to get something off their chest, but why did it feel like it did?

jungkook didn't dare let himself think any more further than that.

jimin was back the next day. jungkook saw him struggling to open his locker while taehyung enthusiastically chatted right beside him. jimin tried to pay attention to both his locker and taehyung but it was proving to be a difficult job. their was a look of aggregation on his face, but he didn't tell taehyung to stop his pestering.

jungkook was amused at the scene. he decided to approach them. "hey, tae," he kissed his cheek. "where were you yesterday?" he directed his question at jimin.

jimin glanced at jungkook before going back to his locker, "i got sick," liar. all he did was lie. why couldn't he just say what he had in mind?

"we missed you!" the blond haired boy admitted. jimin finally opened his locker, tae held it for him.

at those words it caused a purse of lips from jimin in displeasure. he refused to let out any reaction after that. jungkook wondered who he was pursing his lips at, "i'm sure you guys were fine without me."

jungkook wanted to laugh but he kept his mouth shut. "p.e. isn't the same without you," tae playfully frowned, "also, are you okay? you look tired."

retrieving his books, jimin shut his locker and turned his body towards the two childhood best friends. his eyes landed on jungkook, he was expressionless once he let out his reply, "i'm fine," it sounded forced.

jimin began to distance himself a little. of course jungkook was he first one to catch on, guilt in the pit of his stomach. he was a selfish asshole for hurting jimin. the thought of both jimin and taehyung together just didn't sit right on jungkook. it was pathetic of jungkook to snatch tae right out of jimin's hold, but to be fair jungkook liked him too, he took him first. it sounded childish, he didn't like thinking about it.

taehyung was the first to voice the issue over jimin, "do you think we make jimin uncomfortable?" he questioned. they both were cuddling in the corner of the sofa bundled up in a blanket to ward off the cold from the ac. jungkook ran his fingers through taehyung's blond hair. he aimlessly watched the television.

"what do you mean?" he tried to sound disinterested but in reality the conversation caught his attention. he didn't want taehyung to sense his sudden mood change.

"like us together? he's bisexual so i don't understand why he'd be uncomfortable," taehyung explained in confusion. he let his fingers caress the nape of jungkook's neck.

they were only a few inches away from each other's lips. tae's eyes dropped to his lips but didn't do anything to close the little distance between the two.

jungkook had to muster all his energy not to imagine why jimin was uncomfortable. even a tint of curiosity would leave jungkook wondering why he was so fucked up. jungkook's life was slowly spiraling itself out of control. he wasn't sure whether everything was going the way he wanted it to go. he couldn't keep a grip anymore. he needed to be grounded, he just wasn't sure how.

he kissed taehyung's temple in a reassuring, domestic manner. it did nothing to soothe jungkook's thoughts, though. in fact it only sent more worry.

taehyung hummed in satisfaction instantly dropping the subject. jungkook was glad, anymore talking and he might have exploded.

jungkook 9:04pm

what was the homework for first period

jimin 9:38pm

i don't remember.

jungkook 9:42pm

i don't believe you

it had a double meaning.

jimin 3:47am

i don't either.

soon it became more than a month with taehyung. everything was settling itself back to normal.

dating taehyung was exactly like being best friends with him, excluding the amount of affection received by the elder. jungkook sometimes couldn't help but wonder whether they were better off best friends than partners. he didn't let himself think any more than that, he knew he'd start to question everything.

jimin seemed to have gotten used to them being together. however, every once in awhile he'd look away from the two with a frown on his face, clearly not comfortable yet with their status.

jungkook would think about it, wondering why jimin never made the first move. jungkook took taehyung right under his nose and the pathetic thing was jimin didn't do a single thing about it beside distance himself, pretending everything was okay when jungkook knew it wasn't. he was a horrible liar. his fake smiles did him no justice. the scary part was jungkook could pinpoint every fake smile that passed jimin's lips.

taehyung was cradling jungkook leaving sloppy kisses on his neck. he went up, tugging gently on jungkook's bottom lip. his hands went up and down his arms soothingly, rolling his hips in a teasing way to elicit small moans from the black haired boy.

jungkook relaxed against his touch dipping his head back, and trying to get jimin out of his mind, he couldn't though. his thoughts would harbor on the short boy with thighs too thick, and a nice little ass. suddenly he could almost feel him on his skin. it made his dick twitch in interest. jungkook was disgusted with himself. he hated it.

he focused on the matter at hand. he sucked bruises on the base of tan skin drawing out a deep moan from tae. he continued his action, thinking it was a good distraction. his fingers tugged the hem of taehyung's pants. the blond stopped him abruptly, leaving jungkook slightly confused and flustered, "let's not."

"okay," he didn't want to push it.

"let's talk," tae said detaching himself from jungkook. he positioned himself on the bed, a serious expression on his face. he could tell tae was biding his time by the way he let his hands feel the softness of jungkook's sheets.

jungkook didn't feel up for talking, all he wanted to do was touch and feel warm skin on his. maybe forget how fucked up he was for just a day. he didn't want to hear a single word coming out from taehyung's mouth (the exceptions of course would be dirty talk).

"about what?" he finally voiced himself

taehyung didn't even take a second to respond back, "this isn't working out," he didn't sound one bit of sorry, like he was talking about the weather.

jungkook should have felt disappointed or sad, but he didn't. he was thinking the exact same thing. he licked his lips, "why?" he asked even when he didn't want to know. he wished he could say he didn't know why it stopped working out but he knew exactly why, he just wasn't ready to admit it. maybe if taehyung said it, it would make it all feel better to face.

"we don't like each other," taehyung shrugged. that was very true. they didn't like each other that way. "we mistook this for something else. the funny thing is it's clouding up your thoughts," he tapped jungkook's forehead playfully.

jungkook really didn't get what he meant but he nodded anyways in agreement.

taehyung could tell he didn't quite catch what he said, but he decided not to elaborate. he sighed giving jungkook one last kiss on the lips which he gracefully returned back. "i have to go, we're still hanging out on friday right?"

"isn't it my turn to bring the weed?"

"that's right," tae grinned picking up his jacket. "i'll bring jimin."

jungkook labeled that day as 'progress.'

it wasn't really surprising for the two childhood best friends to continue talking to each other as if just a few hours ago they weren't shoving their tongues down their throats.

for what seemed like forever (but really only happened when they started dating), jungkook finally felt like the weight on his shoulders lessened by only a few. it was better than before. he still wasn't in the best condition.

he didn't feel like he was lying to himself anymore. how hypercritical of him for accusing jimin of being a liar yet lying all along about his feelings towards taehyung. he guessed he had to give jimin some credit for saying everything was fine in order to keep on being friends with both of them, along with causing no problems.

jungkook wondered why jimin always kept on coming back, maybe it had to do with the fact that he had no friends (and also he liked taehyung too. at the thought of that jungkook felt a little queazy).

when jungkook arrived to the cafeteria settling himself right in front of jimin like always he knew jimin sensed something different. he curiously peered up from his burger.

jungkook raised an eyebrow, basically daring him to say something—anything. he almost didn't see it, the small curl upwards on jimin's lips. jungkook couldn't remember when a genuine smile was directed at him, it set a fluttery feeling in his stomach. something he liked very much and wanted to feel more of.

the younger grinned to himself, toying with his fork. suddenly his day wasn't going so badly.

they didn't say a single thing. just smiling at each other probably looking like huge dorks. jungkook kind of enjoyed it.

taehyung arrived a few minutes later, letting his books fall on the table with a loud sound. he sighed dramatically exasperated, "my history essay is really kicking my ass right now."

"i'll help you with it if you want?" jimin offered.

taehyung's expression spelled out hopefulness and relief, "really?"

jungkook didn't say a thing. he pretended it didn't hurt to know that the moment they broke it off jimin instantly took the opportunity to be alone with taehyung. it almost seemed like a game to him, jungkook wasn't willing to play anymore.

"of course!" jimin's smile grew wider. his eyes shaping into half moons on his face.

jungkook's breathing hitched slightly. taehyung picked up on it, he sported a look of amusement aimed at him. jungkook was a little confused, he cleared his throat brushing off the glance.

"finals are coming up and i really need an a," taehyung said opening one of his books and retrieving a folded piece of paper. he sighed once again, "i hate finals."

friday arrived sooner than jungkook expected. before he knew it he was knocking on jimin's door patiently waiting for someone to answer. since jimin had no ride taehyung suggested jungkook to pick him up from his house.

it wasn't like jungkook could say no, he remembered the time he forgot to pick jimin up for school. he thought it was another chance to not bring jimin down like he did last time. so of course he agreed for his own selfish reasons.

jungkook would harbor another thought about jimin, wondering why he was still friendly with jungkook when all the taller would do was treat him like shit. jungkook couldn't figure out why, it just didn't make sense. did jimin really want to become friends so badly he excused all the shitty things jungkook did to him, was he that lonely? jungkook frowned to himself, jimin was too sweet for his own good it made jungkook nauseous. people constantly stepped on the shorter boy, taking advantage of him because he was an easy prey, it pissed jungkook off feeling slightly protective of him even though he was basically doing the same thing as everybody else was.

jimin peered out the little crack of the open door. once he recognized the boy, he opened the door wider stepping out into the frigid weather. he closed the door behind him, then he hugged himself in order to feel a little more warmer than before.

jungkook wanted to wrap the boy in a blanket, and kiss ever expanse of open skin including that warm tan opening on his neck. he wanted to leave marks, and leave jimin with swollen pink lips. he wanted to do a lot of things but he quickly shook them away. he didn't want to linger too much in his head.

once inside the car and on the freeway jimin decided to say something, "i don't like taehyung. i know you think i do, but i really don't."

jungkook resisted the urge to take his eyes off the freeway and face the brown haired boy. he didn't know how to reply to that. relief settled itself in the pit of his stomach. it didn't make sense because he knew he didn't like taehyung either. jimin sounded genuine as if he needed to get his point across and apologize for the misunderstanding.

jimin took the silence as a reply, "why did you two break up?" he never really brought up the break up. his voice was hesitant not sure whether he truly wanted to know or not.

jungkook cleared his throat, "we don't like each other."

"oh."

"yeah," he lamely replied. through the corner of his eye he saw jimin glance at him. jungkook tried not to have a bubble of hope appear in his chest. it was all pathetic. "i... don't really care if you like taehyung. it's not my problem anymore." funny, he really did care and it was most definitely his problem.

jungkook didn't know what he expected, probably for jimin to deny his feelings for taehyung or for him to say something along the lines of 'good, cause it shouldn't be your problem,' but he didn't expect jimin to nod settle with the slight amiable silence between the two.

in the driveway jimin wasted no time to hop off and run to taehyung's front porch. he didn't even knock just turned the knob and went in.

jungkook took his sweet time to get out, not really in the mood to get high anymore. when he opened the door of taehyung's house he was greeted by the sound of pop music blasting from small speakers in the living room. tae had his windows open, therefore his house was basically freezing, but tae didn't seem one bit of fazed by the cold. jungkook learned from the amount of cuddling they did (even when they weren't dating they still cuddled) that taehyung was a human heater so it wasn't that surprising.

"jungkook!" taehyung greeted grinning ear to ear with his rectangular smile.

"hey," jungkook unzipped his backpack revealing weed to both tae and jimin.

"you gonna get high with us jimin?" taehyung asked.

typically jimin never got high because he was afraid of his parents ever catching him, but that never stopped tae from asking him each and every time. he always said it was manners, in case jimin ever changed his mind about 'rebelling against his tight ass parents.'

the smaller boy looked between the childhood best friends unsure of what to say. "no one is gonna pressure you. it's cool if you don't wanna," jungkook shrugged, "i forgot to bring a lighter, where's yours tae?"

"i'll go get it," taehyung scurried away searching for one.

jungkook brought out a pipe readying everything. "i'll do it," jimin said.

the taller raised an eyebrow at him, "are you sure? you don't have to."

"yeah i'm sure," jimin nodded his head.

taehyung entered the living room with a lighter. he threw it at jungkook who swiftly caught it with one hand. he adjusted the weed on the pipe not wasting a second to light it up and inhale. he passed it to tae then heading to the window and exhaling it all out. his throat burned a little but he ignored it legs jittery from the adrenaline. he waited for the pipe to be passed to him.

it was jimin's turn after tae smoked and jungkook felt obligated to help him out. jimin pressed his lips on the pipe his hands shaking from nervousness, "relax," jungkook mumbled, his mouth probably smelled like weed.

"okay," jimin said taking a deep breath before pressing his lips on the pipe once again.

the black haired boy lit it for him watching him, "hold it in and then exhale." he did exactly that. jungkook watched in awe as the puffs of smoke escaped jimin's mouth. jungkook wanted to tell him how gorgeous he looked getting high but he didn't.

after a few minutes jungkook could feel his whole body buzz in excitement. his legs moved at their own accord to the beat of a rap song playing. all three boys were high at this point. taehyung was yelling out the lyrics of the song while fist pumping. jimin laughed at the scene. he couldn't stop laughing causing jungkook to watch him with a bright beam on his face at the rays of sunshine radiating from jimin's giggles.

"keep dancing, jungkook!" taehyung whooped encouraging him to continue.

the younger obeyed, aggressively dancing. he moved his feet swiftly through taehyung's carpet floor. jimin's eyes would not leave his body, his mouth wide.

jungkook directed a hip thrust to jimin who laughed and quickly looked away, probably embarrassed. tae was clapping and shouting compliments at him but jungkook wasn't listening, gaze on jimin as his dance became more smooth and sensual. he was so close to giving jimin a lap dance it was ridiculous. a part of him was telling him to stop that instant, but he couldn't, not when he was high and couldn't stop moving

the song ended and jungkook dropped himself right beside the brown haired boy.he was breathing hard, and if he looked any more closer he would be able to tell the blush on the apples of jimin's cheeks. "that was nice," jimin shyly looked up through his lashes.

"thanks," jungkook said.

they listened to the music for a while. they watched taehyung feel the sofas up claiming he couldn't find the lighter anywhere. they didn't feel like helping him out. jungkook stared at jimin, "hey, jimin..." he began.

"yeah?" jimin replied with a gentle smile on his face. jungkook felt warm inside, having the urge to wrap his arm around the shorter boy's waist and plant kisses on the knuckles of his hands.

"you're pretty," he admitted.

jimin's face grew red. he looked down at his knees fidgeting on his seat, "really?" his voice cracked in the end.

jungkook giggled, "yeah. i wanna kiss you," his mouth felt loose from the words. finally saying the truth felt so good.

"okay," it was an invitation.

jungkook took it. lips against the others. it felt warm and gentle, something jungkook didn't know he was craving until that very moment. his hand was jimin's cheek caressing gingerly. it all felt so right. tasting each other's mouths as if it'd be the last time and maybe it would be so jungkook didn't take any chances. he tried to engrave the taste of jimin's mouth in his mind; he was all weed and a tinge of caramel from the candies he was consuming before.

they kissed for a while eventually jimin moaned against jungkook's mouth snapping him out of the trance.

once their breathing normalized they began to giggle. "let's do that again," jimin grinned.

and they did.

jungkook labeled that day 'the time everything felt correct.' it was cheesy, but true.

on monday jimin wouldn't look him in the eye. it irked jungkook, but he didn't push it. he knew kissing him was a stupid idea. jimin probably felt guilty and it only pissed jungkook even more.

jimin would avoid any sort of contact with jungkook. if the younger looked further than the look of discomfort jimin sported he'd be able to tell the looks of hurt and anger, but he didn't.

"why are you two so freaking complicated?" taehyung asked jungkook during their study session in his room.

"what?"

"you and jimin need to set things straight," taehyung explained. it made no sense, well it kind of did.

"set what?" jungkook furrowed his eyebrows together. he pretended he had no idea what his best friend was talking about. maybe he'd drop it if jungkook acted confused.

"you like jimin, but you're too air headed to realize that," taehyung rolled his eyes in annoyance, "you never liked me. you just let your mind pretend that you did—which was stupid by the way— and now you're probably confused as hell."

"he likes you though," jungkook frowned.

"that's what you think," taehyung sighed collecting his notebooks. "i can't study right now. good luck on finals."

taehyung let the door shut itself behind him. jungkook sat there dumbfounded with the realization that tae was right.

he wasn't jealous of jimin, he was jealous of taehyung.

his stomach fluttered a bit at the thought of liking jimin. yeah, he was jealous of tae.

he let himself fall on his bed. he stared at his ceiling, thoughts directed at the short boy. everything was puzzling itself together. if jimin had feeling for him then that would explain the constant reassurance from jimin that he didn't like taehyung, it would explain the fact that he would always come back to them even when jungkook was being an asshole.

he unlocked his phone. he wasn't sure what to text jimin. they weren't exactly in good terms at the moment. he guessed jimin thought he was using him. he wouldn't blame him for thinking that.

jungkook 7:40pm

what was our homework for first period

jimin 7:43pm

why are you asking me? why do you always ask me this?

jungkook 7:43pm

you always pay attention

jimin 7:45pm

please stop this.

it had a double meaning.

jungkook couldn't when he finally realized the obvious.

the next day went uneventfully. jimin proceeded to avoid until jungkook caught him alone in the halls. jimin was the first one to say something, "why are you here?"

jungkook was taken aback, "i wanna talk."

jimin looked up, his expression revealed vulnerability. jungkook could feel the boy wrapped around his finger waiting for him, he wanted to puke and punch himself for being so blind. "i don't want to talk to you right now," jimin was so tired, jungkook could tell from the expression on his face.

when finals arrived jungkook tried letting out a word near jimin only for it to be rejected or ignored. he was at the point where he was going to give up and just wait for jimin to come around. he was afraid that maybe jimin realized that he wasn't worth it.

he would probably end up never admitting his feelings towards jimin because he moved on thinking jungkook wasn't worth it anymore. he wouldn't blame him though, jungkook knew he wasn't worth any effort.

he tried to focus on studying for finals, his head was spinning from the excessive amount of information he crammed into it. he usually always studied a day after, it was starting to become a nuisance.

a knock disrupted his studying (not that he didn't mind). "come in," he said.

the person behind the door took a moment to open the door. "hi," jimin greeted, "your mom let me in."

jungkook's actions stammered. he wasn't expecting to see jimin in front of him just yet, "h-hi," was all he could say back. his palms suddenly became slightly sweaty at the sight of the short boy with his brown sweater and ripped jeans. he looked really good, but jungkook tried not to think about that too much.

jimin bit his lip unsure of what to do with himself. he stood there awkwardly looking around jungkook's room. he motioned the elder to sit next to him by patting the side of his bed. jimin obliged, slowly sitting down. jungkook waited for him to say something. he didn't want to push the shorter boy. he was probably vulnerable at the moment judging by the way he chewed on his bottom lip and his eyes were slightly watery. "so, i got a c in math."

jungkook's mind was blank. he didn't know what to say to make the boy feel better. he really wasn't expecting jimin to talk about finals, he typically vented to taehyung who was always the best at giving advice, "oh, it's okay. i think you're still smart."

"that's the thing though," jimin replied back instantly. he didn't face jungkook looking straight at the door. the younger only stared at his side profile trying to fish any sort of emotion. "you get an a and you're the smartest person in the world but the minute you get a c you're an idiot. 'you didn't try enough, c's won't get you anywhere in this world.' i don't get why parents are like that. i try my best i really do. i always do but just... this time i made some mistakes, but my parents won't leave me alone about it."

two months after taehyung brought in jimin into their group they discovered how strict jimin's parents were. they never wanted him to come home with anything below a b or else they made it their mission to shove insults into the brown haired boy until he was left crying on taehyung's shoulder wondering why he wasn't good enough. it angered jungkook how cruel they were to him.

jungkook wasn't always good at comforting so he racked his brain for something to soothe the boy. he was failing though, so jimin continued his venting, "why hurt your kids feelings? i don't understand that, jungkook. why do they instantly hurt their own flesh and blood, but not a strangers? parents don't treat their own children the way they deserve."

jimin stopped there shifting his body to finally face jungkook. the younger was lost for words, "you don't treat me the way i deserve, yet i keep coming back."

jungkook's heart sped up along with something dropping in his stomach, "i know," jungkook began, "i wanna treat you the way you deserve."

jimin paused staring at jungkook as if searching for any ounce of lie in his eyes, "what took you so long to realize this?"

"tae straight up told me."

"you hurt me," jimin whispered.

"yeah," he agreed in shame, "i did. it just took me too long to realize it."

jimin sighed taking a hold of jungkook's hand and lacing their fingers together. the black haired boy squeezed jimin's hand in a reassuring manner. it was his way of telling him that he was being honest for once in his life. he didn't feel like he was lying to himself anymore, everything just seemed so right at that moment. it was so cheesy to think, jungkook would never say it out loud.

jimin picked up on it a smile spreading through his lips. it was contagious, jungkook mimicked the action. "don't ever do that again."

"i won't," jungkook swore. he was in too deep by the way the shorter boy gave the most sweetest and brightest smile it left jungkook's body all tingly. he let his thumb swipe through jimin's skin enjoying the way he felt.

"okay," was all jimin said before pecking jungkook's cheek. at that instant jungkook could tell jimin placed his emotions on his palm to keep for as long as he could. he was so trusting, jungkook thought he needed to return the favor.

jungkook wanted more from the kiss but didn't test his luck, he settled with what jimin gave him. the elder noticed and he giggled giving him a quick kiss in the corner of his lips before kissing both his cheeks again, then his nose, then his jaw, finally landing on jungkook's lips. it didn't last long, but jungkook liked it a lot. he could definitely settle with it.

he let out a breath of contentment landing his eyes on the shorter boy, with his free hand he let it caress jimin's cheek. he hesitantly kissed jimin unsure whether he'd push him away or not, he didn't instead he melted into the kiss, turning completely pliant against jungkook's hold.

when they distanced themselves it was only by a few centimeters as they hovered near each other. jimin was blissful, eyes still closed. he looked beautiful, all open for him to read and hold. jungkook couldn't get enough of the feeling. they continued hovering each other never touching. jungkook could see the effect it did to jimin. his breath stuttering every time they were so close. jungkook watched in awe never stopping his actions.

jimin eventually closed the gap between them kissing jungkook one more time, this time it was more sensual. eventually a moan of satisfaction was heard from jimin. the younger was pleased by the sound not being able to stop the smirk. he made it his job to hear more, so he broke the kiss moving his mouth to the base of jimin's neck. he peppered kisses along the tan skin until finding a specific spot and gently biting and licking to elicit noises from jimin.

after a while jungkook admired his work. marks on jimin's neck and his swollen lips. "i can get used to this."

he never wanted it to end. he labeled that day as 'the time park jimin was brave.'
