Chapter Text
Tim and Lucy arrive at the hospital where they run into Grey, Nolan, Bailey, and Luna.
“Hey. We heard the good news about Aaron.” Tim says. “Glad to hear surgery went well and he’s stable and awake.”
“Me, too.” Grey adds.
“The thought of losing him the same way we lost Jackson had my stomach in knots.” Lucy says. “But we’re no further in finding the shooter.”
“Anything positive on the riddle front?” Bailey asks.
“Not yet. The front half is deceptively simple, but the back half is a head-scratcher. Angela and Wesley are deep into it.” Luna says
“Typical Lopez. Working while she’s in labor.” Tim says
“Sounds about right though. If she knows she can help she’s going to.” Says Grey. “Let’s let night shift work on any leads we may get during the night and pick back up in the morning.”
“Sounds good.” Tim says. “Lucy and I are going to go see Angela, we’ll check in on Aaron too.”
“Before you go, Lucy I have something for you. Actually Tim, maybe you should give it to her.” Grey says.
Grey looks over at Tim and reaches into is jacket pocket and hands what looks like a jewelry box to Tim. Tim already knew what it was. Tim turns to Lucy and opens the box.
“Well, it looks like you won't be needing your patrol uniform anymore.” Tim says with a smile on his face.
He's looks at her and hands her a new badge that says detective on it.
“Ohh my god. I didn't even think the scores were out yet.” Lucy says with excitement and a huge smile on her face.
“You came in first.” Grey says. “I got your badge yesterday evening and we were going to give it to you this morning, but then everything happened with Aaron. So from now on you'll be working with Harper and Lopez. Congratulations Detective Chen.”
“Thank you sir.” Lucy says as she takes off her old badge off her hip and replaces it with the new one.
Tim pulls her in for a playful hug and a kiss.
“You're very welcome. Now go check in on Angela. I think Nyla might be with her and Wesley too.” Grey says.
Tim and Lucy looked at each other and gave each other a nod.
“Since we're on the subject of good news, why don't we keep it going? Lucy would you like to continue?” Tim says.
“Well, we were going to wait a couple more weeks, but why not now?” Lucy says. “Anyway, I’m pregnant.”
“Congratulations you two.” Grey says. “That's amazing news. How far along are you?”
“I had my first Drs appointment yesterday to confirm that I was actually pregnant. They did an ultrasound. I'm seven weeks and due November 5th.” Lucy says.
“I have no doubt that that y'all will be great parents.” Bailey says.
“Thanks, Bailey.” Tim says. “I guess we'll head to see Angela. See you guys tomorrow? Unless something comes up tonight.”
“Yeah, so keep your phones close.” Grey says
“Will do.” Lucy adds.
Tim and Lucy make their way to the elevator to head to labor and delivery. Tim pulls Lucy in for a kiss while waiting for the elevator to open.
“Can you believe the next time we are coming to this floor we'll be having our own baby?” Tim says with excitement.
“I know, I can't wait.” Lucy says as he goes to give Tim another kiss.
They arrive at Angela's hospital room.
“Knock knock.” Tim says. “Can we come in.”
“Yeah, come on in.” Wesley says
“Hey.” Angela says as she’s at the end of a contraction.
“How you doing?” Tim asks
“Hurts like hell, but I’m hanging in there.” Angela says. Contractions are 5 minutes apart and I’m 6 centimeters dilated.
“We heard Aaron was out of surgery. Awake and stable.” Nyla says
“Yeah.” Lucy says. “We’re going to go see him after we leave here.”
“Are you any closer to finding the shooter?” Angela asks as she was barely able to get it out because she was at the start of another contraction coming on.
She leans in to Wesley as she’s trying to breathe through the contraction.
“Damn, that was probably the most painful one yet.” Angela says.
“To answer your question, no we’re not.” Tim says. “Grey said to let night shift work on it during the night.”
Nyla looks over at Tim giving him a look seeing if it’s okay to bring up Lucy making detective.
“Well, at least I’ll have another detective helping solve this case.” Nyla says while looking at Lucy. “And help while Angela is on maternity leave.”
“We’ll be happy to have the help once I’m back too.” Angela adds
“Congratulations Detective Chen.” Says Aaron as Celina is rolling him into Angela’s room. “I’m going to miss riding with you on patrol.”
Everybody whips their heads around with a look of shock.
“Aaron what are-.” Angela says being cut off by her next contraction. “Damn, I think they are starting to get closer together. What are you doing here? You should be in bed.”
“I was tired of lying around. I’m sore but the doctor says I’m going to make a full recovery and it’s fine for me to leave my room as long as I’m in a wheelchair.” Aaron says. “I heard you were here having the baby so I wanted to come see you.”
“I tried to talk him out of it but he wouldn’t listen.” Celina says.
“It’s good to see you’re doing okay.” Lucy says as he reaches down to give him a hug. “I’m going to miss riding with you to. But this is something I’ve wanted for a while.”
“Should we tell them the other good news?” Tim asks Lucy.
‘“Might as well.” Lucy says
“What other good news? Nyla asks
“I’m pregnant.” Lucy says with a smile on her face.
“That’s amazing news.” Celina says as she reaches over to hug Lucy. “Congratulations.”
“Thanks Celina.” Lucy says
“Like I told Lopez and Wesley, Aaron makes a great girls name.” Aaron says.
“You also spoiled the gender of the baby when you said that.” Wesley says. “We were wanting to be surprised.”
“Yeah, sorry about that.” Aaron says
“We don’t even know what we’re having yet.” Tim says
“We should be able to find out at our next appointment.” Lucy adds
“What’s your due date?” Angela asks
“November 5th. I’m seven weeks along.” Lucy says
A couple hours later Tim and Lucy are back home and cuddled in bed. Tim has his hand over Lucy’s belly.
“Are you ready to become a mom?” Tim asks Lucy
“Yeah, but I’d be lying if I said I was nervous about the birth part.” Lucy says “Seeing the pain Angela is going through right now…. But knowing I’ll have you by my side I know I’ll be okay.”
“You’ve got me every step of the way during this pregnancy and birth.” Tim says
Lucy smiles and gives Tim a kiss. Tim’s phone starts to ring with a FaceTime call.
“It’s Wesley.” Tim says “Hey, everything okay?
“Yes, everything is great.” Wesley says as he holds the phone over Angela and their newborn daughter. “She’s here.”
“Awww she’s adorable.” Lucy says “What’s her name?”
“Meet Amelia Grace Evers.” Angela says
“Congratulations you two.” Tim says “How are you feeling?”
“Just tired and a little sore.” Angela says. “All in all I’m good. Lucy, before you know it this will be you.”
“I know.” Lucy says. “We can’t wait. Get some rest.”
“You need to rest too.” Angela says. “The first trimester can sometimes be the hardest part of your pregnancy with morning sickness and tiredness. Tim you better take care of her.”
“Ohh I will” Tim says.
“I’ve been a little bit more tired than normal but I haven’t had any morning sickness yet.” Lucy says
“That’ll come in about another week or so and sometimes come on full force or it won’t be that bad.” Angela says. “With Jack it was awful but with Amelia it wasn’t that bad.”
“Thanks for the advice Ang.” Lucy says. “You two have a good night and we’ll talk to you tomorrow.”
“Goodnight.” Wesley says
“Night.” Tim adds then hangs up the phone.
“Wow.” Lucy says. “That tiredness just hit me like crazy all of a sudden.”
“Let’s go to sleep then.” Tim says as he has his arm open so Lucy can snuggle up to his chest. “Come here.”
“I love you.” Lucy says “I can’t wait to watch you become the best dad.”
“I love you too.” Tim says “And I can’t wait to watch you become the best mom, and one badass detective.
Not long after Lucy was out like a light in Tim’s arms.
