Chapter Text
Timmy looked upon the city, it had been a while ten thousand years since he had been here last but it was only about twenty years for earth. Timmy was at the same age as he was when he left all those years ago, he chose to not grow up, despite it being ten thousand years, he wasn't ready to move past the age of eleven, not yet and his parents were more turn willing to let him stay that age for however long he wanted… Even for eternity.
Timmy jumped and landed on the ground, he had learned much in ten thousand years… What truly happened to his old parents, what the fairies were really like, he wasn't supposed to but he overheard his parents talk about it around five thousand years ago. A part of him felt bad for his old parents but he could barely remember them, the only thing he remembered was all those times they abandoned him and left him. He was loved by his family and honestly despite knowing what he knew now, he doesn't think he'd change a thing.
Timmy took a deep breath, this was his first ever mission and he can not screw it up! If he did it would take forever for his parents to allow him on another.
Timmy was so far the only adopted human child to learn all about the nitty gritty. Cosmo and Wanda were terrified of his reaction to the truth but he just shrugged it off, he barely remembered his human life and the parts he did remember were miserable. He understood why Cosmo and Wanda did what they did, and he was happy that it turned out this way.
“That was a really steep jump, You shouldn't have jumped that far down. We've been through this, we allow you on this assignment as long as you didn't do anything reckless.” his mom scolded
Timmy groaned “But that was a really cool move! I want to look cool while being on my first mission.”
His mom was in her human form with crossed arms fixing him with an unimpressed look “This is serious Timmy, you can not be taking risks like that. You need to stick to the plan.”
“What's the harm in having a little fun?” he asked annoyed
His mom pulled out her wand “It's not too late for me to send you back.” she warned
Timmy groaned an sighed “Fine, I'll stick to the plan, no more risks.”
Wanda gave a nod, before taking his hand “Your part should be relatively simple, You need to be on the look out for Mrs. Helen Smith and Mr Arnold Smith, once found, you will lead them to this secluded alley and I will take care of the rest.” she explained “I will be watching you from the shadows just to make sure you're safe, can't risk anyone hurting my baby boy.” she cooed at him and he giggled
“Ok, that's enough mom, don't worry I won't fail.” Timmy promised
“Just stay safe.” she reminded him as the radio began to beep and Wanda picked it up “Yes?”
“This is Green Bird to Pink Bird , I have successfully dismantled all cameras and I am watching from above, is Pink Fledgling ready?”
Wanda nodded, “This is Pink Bird to Green Bird, I am heading to the shadows and Pink Fledgling is currently on his way to find the targets.” she replied ending the call and dissipating the invisible and soundproof bubble around her. She moved through the shadows keeping a sharp eye on Timmy. Wanda knew he was well prepared, they had trained him well and it wasn't like he was on his own or doing any fighting, he was just the lure but she still couldn't help be worried.
Wanda couldn't imagine how Cosmo must be feeling, it took a lot of begging and convincing from her, Timmy, Big Daddy and Mama Cosma for Cosmo to allow this. Despite her worries, she knew he was ready to take his first steps, he had wanted this for a while and had been very dedicated to his training. He passed all his tests and all the drills and practices with flying colors.
Timmy was making sure to keep an eye out, he has had it drilled into him to always be aware of his surroundings, that some people had no problems hurting children.
Timmy smirked as he spotted the couple and went up to the looking all innocent “Excuse me Mr and Mrs?” he quivered his voice, sounding afraid and desperate. “I… I'm lost! I don't know where my mommy is.” he lied as tears welled up in his eyes.”
“Scram kid.” the wife huffed as the husband bent down “Of course we'll help, tell us what happened.” the husband cooed
Timmy nodded, keeping up the facade “I… I think I remember seeing her go this way.”
The wife rolled her eyes but begrudgingly followed her husband as Timmy led them to the desired destination. Once they arrived at the destination, Timmy disappeared into the smoke leaving the couple confused and realizing something was wrong but they found quickly they couldn't leave for whatever reason, it was like an invisible barrier kept them in.
“Good Job Timmy, you did excellent on your first mission.” Wanda praised kissing his forehead and led Timmy to the portal, gently pushing him through to the Fairywinkle headquarters. Wanda gestured for the men to follow behind her as she walked out of the fog with a serious look, the couple look fearful probably realizing there was no escape and that they had been tricked.
The man pulled out a gun and tried shooting at her but Wanda remained unfazed as she dodged with elegance.
“What do you want with us?” the woman demanded from behind her husband. “I knew we shouldn't have followed that kid! But you always have to have a bleeding heart for kids don't you!?” the woman yelled at her husband.
Wanda just shrugged “I'm sorry, it's just business, someone needs you dead.” she points to the woman.
“If you want her you have to get through me!” the husband said standing protectively over his wife.
Wanda laughed “Oh that won't be an issue.” she said as she quickly blew some fairy dust into the man's face, making him fall asleep instantly. “Usually I would enjoy more of a fight but I have a kid to get back to. I am a caring mother, unlike you.” she gestured to herself before pointing at the woman.
The woman stood terrified, she realised that whoever was in front of her was no human. “What are you?” she demands to know
Wanda looks at her with a look of boredom in her eyes “The last thing you'll ever see” she states before putting the woman to sleep with fairy dust and ending her, usually she wouldn't put people to sleep but she really did have a kid to get back to so she had to kill quickly, she didn't have the time to play like she usually did. Wanda snapped her fingers garnering the men's attention as she turned around “You know what to do.” she simply states as she walks through the portal with a smile on her face as if she hadn't just killed someone.
This was a big celebration, considering the eldest of the next generation of Fairywinkle had gone of his first assignment.
Wanda frowned as she didn't see Timmy. “Hey… Where is Timmy?” she asked Cosmo
Cosmo pursed his lips “He said he was going to the bathroom a minute ago but I was just about to follow him, something seemed off with him.” Cosmo says as he headed to a secluded corner with Wanda trailing behind. “Thought I'd find you here.” he called out as he spotted Timmy sitting alone looking unhappy.
Timmy jumped a little “Dad? Mom? How did you know I was here?”
Cosmo laughed “C'mon Timmy, we've known you for ten thousand years, we can tell when something is upsetting you and we know what spots you like when you want to get away.” he says as he sat next to Timmy and Wanda leaned on the wall next to them. “So, son, what's wrong?” he asked.
“It's about the mission.” he admitted
Wanda's eyebrows knit as she looked worried “What about the mission? It went well, you did your part perfectly.” she praised.
“I don't know… Everyone's celebrating me like I did something but I didn't really, all I did was lead someone to the spot, anyone could have done that. I just wished my role was more important.” he explained
Cosmo looked to Wanda, she was the expert in all things Fairywinkle.
Wanda sighed and sat down, grabbing Timmy and sitting him in her lap. “I know how you feel kiddo, I felt like that on my first assignment. Big Daddy was really protective of me, still couldn't help but see me as a little girl. It took a lot of begging and pleading for him to agree and when I was allowed, I was disappointed to find out that my role was also just the lure. I was still happy though, I was still allowed to actually go on a job, but I did screw up, they didn't fall for my bait and the others had to act quickly to catch the people, despite the fact I didn't even do my part successfully.”
Timmy looked at her with widened eyes “You screwed up your part!?” he asked shocked, it was hard to imagine his no nonsense and highly skilled mom making any mistakes, even when she was young.
“I did, I felt like a failure and yet I was still greeted with a party. Even though I screwed up. I felt down on myself just like you do now! I felt like I didn't deserve the praise. But big Daddy and my uncles found me and explained it to me, it's not really about how big or small the part I played in was, or the fact I screwed up. The fact that I was so determined, that I was taking it seriously, that I was finally entering the Famy business, it was still something to celebrate. That I should focus on what I did accomplish instead of what I didn't.”
Timmy smiled a little “I think I understand, even if I played a small part, I still took my first steps into the family business and that's something to celebrate.”
Wanda nodded and cuddled him “Feel better?” she asks
Timmy nodded “I think I do…”
“I know you want to rush into things, I felt like that to, so did big Daddy, but these assignments are dangerous and we have to take every precaution to ensure that no mistakes were made or else we could get caught and have our organization exposed and potentially risk exposing Fairy World. Not only that but you're human so we have extra reason to worry about you. We just want to make sure everything goes smoothly and you are safe.” she explained
Timmy nodded, he still felt down at the fact he wasn't ready but he took comfort in the fact that at one point, Wanda and even Big Granddaddy felt like he did and look at them now, waiting did suck but he knew one day, his patience will pay off and he'll be leading his own missions just like his mom does.
