Work Text:

After the X-Men fought Apocalypse, and Peter was finally able to tell Erik the truth about their relationship, he was still left on bedrest because of his broken leg. He needed his legs, that's mostly how he used his power. Instead, Peter's trapped in his room for weeks because some stupid ancient douchebag snapped his leg in two like he was nothing more than a twig.

Kurt's been coming up to his room frequently to check on him. Most of the time when Kurt came in Peter was playing video games. He started out reading comic books, but he got bored after the first few read throughs of all of them. Peter was sitting in bed with his back propped up with pillows playing Super Mario Bros. when Kurt BAMF’d into the room to check on him and get his textbook for his next class.

Every time Kurt came in, Peter would say hi. If he just popped in to grab something and immediately left, Peter would still say hello and goodbye to him because it entertained him. He was so terribly bored that just the smallest amount of conversation meant so much to him.

Whenever he could, Kurt would stay with him. He'd help Peter move around by teleporting him to the cafeteria for meals and helping him to the bathroom so he could bathe.

Peter felt bad for being such a burden on the demon. Several nights Kurt would stay in his room with him in case he needed anything. He'd curl up next to him on the bed with his tail wrapped around his body and fall asleep next to the boy so he could be woken up if Peter needed something.

One time, while Kurt was asleep, Peter got curious. He rested one hand on Kurt's back and slowly rubbed circles into his fur while watching TV. Kurt snuggled into him closer and stretched his body around Peter.

The older boy smiled and softly scratched the fur on the back of Kurt's neck while watching him. He kept stroking Kurt's fur until he fell asleep too. When Peter woke up, Kurt was gone. He still checked in as frequently as before, but he wouldn't look Peter in the eye.

Peter felt bad, he shouldn't have done that without Kurt's permission. He tried apologizing, but Kurt BAMF’d away as soon as he opened his mouth to speak. While he was stuck in his bed because of his leg, Peter knew he wouldn't be able to get Kurt to talk to him.
