Summary
"What does that mean---tame?"
"It is an act too often neglected," said the fox. "It means to establish ties."
"To establish ties?"
"Just that," said the fox. "To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you, I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other."
---Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

Comment by Prince_of_Elsinore:
I have the utmost respect for this piece. Not only is your turn of phrase devastatingly perfect (I especially appreciated the grotesque and vivid description of Mycroft's metaphorical insides), but you manage to lead the reader convincingly through desires and events most of us will never experience. Though Sherlock's feelings may be foreign to us, you make them, to the extent that it is possible, comprehensible, all while never losing sight of either the "objective" reality of the situation nor the important subjective experience of it. In the end, Sherlock's conviction of the unnaturalness of it all and his own abnormality, along with the desire to just retreat into his own world, are so tangible it aches. I desperately want to know how it will end, though it doesn't seem like there's any possible happy ending.
Is literally everything I think, but in a much more well written way.

The one with the fox Sherlock rescues. Weird, but sweet, and terribly sad.

Soooo.... this one. Not for everyone. But damn good writing, and the characterization is lovely and painful. If you like a terrible mean Mycroft then this is your Mycroft. Mostly, my heart wept for confused little Sherlock. He tries so hard to do the right thing and it ends up going all wrong and he knows it but he doesn't know how to fix it.

Ok. Here's another FUCK YOU IF YOU JUDGE ME for bookmarking. Because, this. This is so well written, I talk about it all the time. I'm tired of trying to remember the tags to search it. So here! Bestiality, handled with loving care. It's beautiful. Judging ending tho, which prompts hilarious conversation after I rec this. 'Seriously Mycroft? You're fucking your own brother in that other fic. Fuck you and your judging face.'
