Work Text:
Jo had zoned out when Choji had started to play with his hair. They were sitting together in the theater, listening to reports from the other Shishitoren boys. Tensions were on the rise near Bofurin’s territory and they had been upping patrols.
He knew he needed to be paying attention, it was part of his job. He and Choji had started to restructure Shishitoren after everything. Things had started to go better and they were on top once again - but at least this time they were together. He was supposed to be paying attention and giving his advice for situations, but he couldn’t, not when Choji was messing with his hair the way that he was.
His head was on his thigh as he sat between his legs and Choji was running his fingers through his new haircut. The way his fingers ran over the fresh fade and then still threaded through the fluffy strands on top. It was the most relaxed he had ever been and all because he finally decided to cut his hair.
Cutting his hair had meant so much to the both of them. The final sign that they had changed and they had changed for the better. He had done this out of love. It had always been about love for Jo, even if it wasn’t reciprocated until just recently. He had always done anything to care for Choji and he had always tried to prove how much he loved him.
If it hadn’t been for those fights against Bofruin, Choji would have never known how he felt. He would have never known how much he did for him. He had been so close to just leaving - going on his own, unable to hide how much he cared for him. But now he was here, between the thighs of the man he loved, and for the first time in a long time, he felt loved.
He was balancing between sleep and wakefulness, a tender place that he could only ever reach when he was with Choji. He had never been able to sleep around others - too many years of people taking advantage of him when he slept - but it felt natural to be this relaxed with the other man.
Choji leaned down to kiss his forehead, making him smile. The meeting had to be over or Choji just gave up with formalities. He blinked slightly, letting his eyes adjust to the brighter lights.
The way the light shone around Choji made him look like an angel; his angel. Choji had been the brightest thing in his life, his sun, his reason for his happiness.
He was peppering kisses around his forehead and cheeks. “I like your hair,” he mumbled.
“I can tell.” He laughed a bit, reveling in the way that Choji was kissing him. “Did I miss anything important?”
“No.” He continued to pepper his face in kisses. It had been years since he had seen Choji so happy and he was so glad that this time they were sharing their happiness. “Though you’re going to need to go speak to your Othello-kun.”
“Ugh, drama for another day.” He reached up to run his hands through Choji’s curls. “May I have a kiss, sunshine?”
The smile on Choji’s face was infectious and Jo couldn’t help but to mirror it. His happiness was Jo’s happiness. His sunshine. His love.
Choji pulled him into a gentle kiss, love obvious from every touch. Happiness had been robbed from every single thing in their life and Jo was so glad that they had found happiness again. They had carved out this little bit of happiness and it was theirs to keep.
