Work Text:
Izuku and Katsuki found themselves drawn for another team-up mission together. This time they found themselves with Uraraka, Froppy and Hawks, and all was well. Well, it was until a steel crate formed around the two boys, quickly encasing them.
“What. The. Fuck.” Katsuki stated, as he blankly stared up at the roof of the crate that now trapped them. Katsuki was sprawled against the crate as he tried his best to keep no-contact with Izuku, who didn’t have much of a choice but to lean near him with the proximity.
Izuku was currently scanning the crate, his brain was already working, trying to find some sort of escape route.
“Why don’t you just use a small flick of air force or something?” Katsuki said bored. Apparently he had quickly accepted this situation and leaned against his hand. Izuku nodded, his usual determined look in his eyes.
“I’ll try.” And so he tilted around, basically sitting on Katsuki at this point to get the angle, aiming his finger at the roof before sending out a small air force, not strong enough to hit the two in the crate.
Nothing.
Izuku sighed, “It’s quirk proof.” Katsuki grumbled and pushed Izuku off him, making the poor boy hit his head against the top. Izuku found himself once again hovering above Katsuki, mumbling to himself as he thought of any possible escape.
“It’s gotta be that damn villains quirk right? I would hope he wasn’t hauling something like this around.” He said as he watched Izuku’s brain cogs turn. The boy sent a quick nod in response as he flawlessly pursued his thinking.
Though what Katsuki didn’t know is that Izuku’s mind began to wander. Originally he was trying to think of escape routes, but the heat from Katsuki’s body distracted him. I mean, he never got to be this close to Katsuki.
His eyes continued to drift to Katsuki, trailing down to his chest, but he darted his eyes to a random corner in the plain looking crate. Has this corner always looked so fascinating? Izuku mentally slapped himself before getting back on track. Right. Escaping.
That’s when Katsuki started to grumble and twitch, like a bomb ticking down.
“Kacchan? No-” And he exploded.
“Dammit just let me out already! Why do I have to be in here with shitty Deku?! I should be fighting the villain right now!” He yelled, sending a punch to the side, not even a dent was made in the box.
Izuku quickly grabbed his wrist “Kacchan! Stop, you're just going to hurt yourself! Let’s stop and think so we can get out quicker and find the villain. Okay?” Izuku tried calming the raging boy down, and Katsuki stilled, but continued to glare at him mumbling a few “Yeah I know”.
The space between them was silenced once more, and their heavy breaths mingled and intertwined with one another. At this point Katsuki was manspreading, his legs rested against the side of the box, forcing Izuku to sit right dab in the middle. Izuku huffed. Of course Kacchan is taking up most of the space…
Izuku wished he could at least have a bit more space, maybe so he could have something to lean against? Maybe he should just lean against his leg… and run his hands up them-
No.
I need to figure out how to get out of here! Not having these silly thoughts! I’m better than this, I’m Deku!-
There was a creak. And then, the box shrank.
The two boys were caught off guard and suddenly their bodies were forced into one another, squishing together.
“Shti!” Katsuki exclaimed with wide eyes, he clocked this box straight away. “Don’t tell me it’s going to slowly shrink until-” He grunted and looked away. His words caused Izuku to shiver and panic washed over him.
Before he could even think, Katsuki somehow, despite the little space, punched into the roof of the box. “Kacchan!” Izuku called out, despite Katsuki’s face, and ears, being right in front of him.
“What?! We don’t have any more time to think! We need to get out now!” He matched him, yelling as he continued to punch into the steal. Izuku furrowed his brow, grabbing onto Katsuki’s arm.
“Come on! You know better than not to do this! You’re just going to get hurt!” He said, with brow quickly turned upside down, showing his worry. This only pissed Katsuki off more.
“We have no choice Deku! Do you want to be crushed alive?!” He called out, punching harder, Izuku heard a small crunch from beside his ear, and he felt a warm liquid drip onto his shoulder.
He clenched his teeth and grabbed his bicep. “We can get out! I’ll think of something so just stop!” He growled, his fingers digging into Katsuki, who repaid his glare. He dropped his now bloodied hand, letting it rest by his side.
But clearly that didn’t work as his hand rushed forwards, punching with more force ever then before. Izuku was quick to react, his hands found their way around both of Katsuki’s wrists and slammed them behind him.
“I told you to stop!” He yelled as he applied more pressure against his body to keep him still. “Let’s just think.” Izuku breathed out with a small shaky smile. Izuku this time held him until he confirmed he’d obey, and once he did he let him go, his hands drifting over to the sides, feeling the material of the box, were there any hidden buttons? Gaps? Seams?
Izuku’s new found determination fueled him, and Katsuki could see the fire in his eyes. So he huffed and rested his eyes, knowing Izuku had this. But he flinched, his eyes snapped open as he felt Izuku’s warm breath against his neck.
Katsuki grinded his teeth as his eyes gradually peered over at Izuku who had let his head flop against the wall behind Katsuki.
“What happened to thinking?” Katsuki asked amusedly, Izuku sighed.
“It’s useless. We’re stuck in a steel, quirk proof, box. It’s impossible.” Katsuki’s hand lazily hovered over the ends of Izuku’s hair, wrapping around the front of his body as he did. Izuku didn’t notice this action, and Katsuki hesitated, eventually resting his hand on the floor.
Another creak, and another shrink.
The two boys' cheeks were now squashed against each other, and Izuku pulled back a bit. Wait bad idea-
They now faced each other, and their lips ghosted over each other. Both of them stared at each other, wide eyed, not expecting this development. But Katsuki’s face quickly returned serious, his hands found their ways against the small of Izuku’s back, they couldn’t fit comfortably anywhere else.
The fluttering feeling in Izuku’s heart disappeared as the truth of the situation hit him again. They had gotten nowhere, and the box was close to turning them to stew. Katsuki noticed the panic in Izuku, but also the slight agitation that was forming.
“Don’t worry. I won’t let us die here.” He stated. Surprisingly calm. Izuku nodded, putting his full trust in him. And then the box paused again, and Katsuki smirked.
Izuku looked up at him, a brow raised, but he was almost scared. Kacchan’s smirking… he’s up to no good isn’t he? Izuku sighed at this thought.
“You know, you’re pretty useless Deku.” Katsuki said, his smirk completely vanished, leaving Izuku confused.
“What? Kacchan now’s not the time for this! And I'm not… At least I tried to think of a way to escape! You just sat here punching the box the whole time!” Izuku huffed, getting fed up with Katsuki and the thought of his nearing death.
Another creak.
“No, it's shrinking more! Dammit, think Izuku, think!” He cursed himself as it became hard to breathe, his lungs being crushed in between Katsuki and the hard steel above him which kept slowly and slowly applying more pressure.
Katsuki was feeling the same effects, but it seems his mind was elsewhere as his next words exited his mouth.
“Kiss me.” Izuku froze, every ounce of pain and panic leaving his body.
“What?!” Izuku squealed, that same squeal he lets out when something truly baffles him.
“Do it!” Katsuki demanded, and at this point Izuku was stuttering this and that as his face flushed redder and redder.
Izuku's eyes immediately darted to Katsuki’s lips and then back at his eyes then back down. Was he serious?
“Why? RIght now?! I can’t-” But oh did he want to as he looked down at his lips, he knew it was such a strange position to want to kiss him right now, but seriously this whole time, the closeness, the heat of his breath, his body. Had really, really done numbers to him.
He was really thinking about it, even though he was confused, he wanted to give in. But he was still unsure… why now? Why did Katsuki even want to?
“Please, Izuku?” Izuku’s eyes darted back up to Katsuki’s, the vulnerability in his eyes was painfully obvious, and it did wonders to Izuku. And god, the use of his first name? It’s like cupid struck him in the heart all over again.
“Okay, you’re getting it.” Izuku didn’t even give Katsuki time to react, he closed the small gap between them, meeting the others lips. Of course his lips are soft. Izuku chuckled to himself as his hands found their way into the other's hair.
The other happily accepted his lips, matching the pace. Izuku felt like he was out of this world, he couldn’t believe this was actually happening…
And maybe he was out of this world because he felt cold? He pulled away to assess the situation, why was he suddenly feeling cold? And it was when he made eye contact with Uraraka he realised what had happened.
The box had disappeared into thin air, leaving him straddling Katsuki in the middle of the street. Uraraka, Froppy and Hawks awkwardly looked down at the two, who were once just a steel box. Passers-by also stole curious glances, some covering their children's eyes.
In a flash Izuku was floating away, trying to explain himself with an awkward rub of his head and a bright red face. Katsuki had to jump up to catch him and make sure he didn’t float away.
“See? I had it under control the whole time.” He huffed proudly, crossing his arms once Izuku was safely on the ground again.
“How?!” Izuku whined, still flustered and confused with well… everything!
“I figured out how that stupid box worked. It reacted whenever we argued.” He stated, suddenly looking all too similar to the nerd emoji he used to mock Izuku over text.
“So that’s why the box was shrinking faster at the end? But then- why’d we have to kiss?!” Katsuki sighed, back to his usual demeanour.
“Since it was quirk controlled, I’m guessing it was some weird bullshit about trapping two people who disagree together.” Katsuki grumbled out the last past. Izuku’s cheeks eventually cooled down as he began thinking about the quirk.
“So the quirk puts two people in a small box together to sort out their issues? I’ve never heard anything like that…” Izuku thought, his muttering about to come out. “Wait, but how was… you know… kissing meant to solve our problems?”
Katsuki shot him a raised brow, “Seriously? Don’t act like I didn’t see how you were looking at me in the beginning. No wonder we were victims.” And with that he chucked his hands behind his head and began walking away, the other heroes awkwardly following along as they whispered to each other.
“Yeah, no wonder.” Izuku said sarcastically under his breath, but despite that, he was happy he got to share that moment with Katsuki. So he happily caught up with Kacchan and the others.
