Tethered strings

Summary:

Shoto is struggling and there is no help.

Work Text:

Shoto todorki stopped hoping for a happy life a long time ago, he was five years old and four feet tall when he was faced with the fact that life would never be fair and that people like him, creations like him, never have happy endings.

And he had accepted that, he had accepted the fact that he’d be trapped in his fathers shadow for the remainder of his perfectly designed existence, always obeying..always fighting.

Being endeavours puppeteered creation.

Which is why he doesn’t know what to do as he stands in his new and empty apartment at the age of nineteen, having not spoken to his Father in months.

It had been a year since he and his classmates had graduated from UA, a year of being a sidekick whilst trying to start building a reputation away from his father, and he had finally gotten the courage to live on his own.

But where does he go from here?
He knows he wants to be a hero, but is that even plausible?
His family drama is like a stain on his entire being, the public doesn’t forget.
Should he want them to?

Does he deserve the right to be a hero, after everything that had happened?

He doesn’t know, deep down he knows that blaming himself fixes nothing, it won’t erase the past.
But he can’t help but resent his own existence, he cant help but feel like the catalist to the downfall of his hellish family.

The downfall of Touya.
The name sends a spike of grief and anger through his chest.

He pushes thoughts of Touya away, he feels the phantom strings tighten around his chest, he feels them encircle his neck.

He daydreams of a life without strings.
