“Harvey… you gave me permission to point the finger at you. Give me permission to go.” Harvey doesn’t miss the way Mike’s voice trembles, but doesn’t break.
The moment stretched into what feels like hours but can’t be more than a few heartbeats. Harvey searches Mike’s eyes and only finds hurt and sadness in them.
“If this is what you really want, I’m not gonna stop you,” He finally says, even though the words sound alien to his own ears. Like he wasn’t the one who spoke them.
Mike lets his head hang low, his hands hidden in his pockets. He’s avoiding Harvey’s eyes. “What I really want, I can’t have. It was never on the table.”
