Or maybe, they thought something was evil even though it was just a force of nature, pure and overwhelming and difficult to explain. The wolf used to be considered a messenger spirit, but then was thought to be a menace. Humans hunted it off the land for their own gain without knowing that the wolves were just trying to survive in harmony with everything else.”
“Huh.” He’d never heard her say so much at once.
“So, that’s why I think I understand them. There are things more important than us out there, Garō. There are things in nature that carry on with their divine order, no matter how humanity struggles against it or tries to cast it out.”
