“Do you want to see Pretty Woman on Saturday?”
Robin presses herself up from her slouch on the other end of the sofa, expression bright.
“Oh, yeah, let’s go! I have that awful mixer Saturday afternoon and Julia Roberts seems like the perfect-“
“Wait,” Nancy says, and Robin’s mouth stays half open as she quiets. “I mean, can I take you to see Pretty Woman on Saturday?”
“Can you…” Robin asks, confusion obvious, and Nancy fights the urge to crawl across the sofa to kiss her.
“Can I take you out? On a date?”
“On a date?” Robin repeats, eyes shifting to stare down blankly at the book in her lap, and she’s obviously talking to herself, the way she does sometimes when she’s reading a line of Greek that won’t quite work itself out for her, so Nancy gives it a second.
A blush blooms on her cheeks, beautiful, and when her eyes look up at Nancy, the blush stays but her expression softens into one that Nancy knows well.
