Work Text:

If anyone had asked Minho if he’d consider turning someone into a vampire ten years ago, he would have rolled his eyes and told them not to be stupid.
Being a sire, a good sire, was a lot of work that Minho just didn’t want to deal with… until he met Jisung.
When Changbin had brought him home and introduced him as a friend, Minho had scoffed.
Befriending a human was dangerous, stupid and in the end pointless.
But Jisung just had a way of worming himself into the hearts of people.

When he had found out about them being vampires, no, when the others told him, about a year after Changbin brought him home, Minho was sure he would drop the act and show his real face and tell hunters about them. He had been against it but Chan had made a decision so he bit his tongue.
But he had just tilted his head slightly in thought and said “Oh, now I feel kinda stupid that I didn’t pick up on that earlier…”

Jisung had just kept on going like before and slowly the ice around Minho’s heart had started melting away. It took him a while to fall but when he did he fell hard.
The first time they kissed was an accident at first, they had both been caught up in the moment. Jisung had asked Minho what it felt like to be bitten, Minho had told him that he didn’t know since he had been born like this so nobody had ever bitten him. Jisung blushed as he awkwardly asked Minho to bite him.
At that time Minho had already started developing a crush on him so he did the only thing he could to cope, he started teasing him.

“Jisungie, are you telling me you want me to suck on your neck? I didn’t know you were this promiscuous.” He said leaning over him.

“What? No, I, you, I didn’t mean it in that way, I just…” Jisung stammered, his face red as a beet.

“Ohhh, in what way did you mean it then? A human offering his blood to a vampire in that way, back when I was born, would be quite the gossip.”
In the end Minho ended up sitting on Jisung’s lap, his mouth hovering over the crook of his neck.

“Are you sure you want to try this, Sungie?” He whispered into his ear.
Jisung had given up on forming coherent sentences a while ago and just nodded.

Minho was as careful as possible when biting him, he only opened a small wound that was numbed almost instantly.
He took a few small sips that would hardly affect Jisung as he listened to his spiking breath and quiet whimpering.
Minho had pulled back and looked at him, he was sure his eyes were still glowing red, most people would be afraid.

But Jisung just pushed himself forward and kissed Minho in the heat of the moment.
Their relationship had really taken off after that.
After another year, Jisung approached him about wanting to stay with Minho and the others forever. He had lost his family very young and was just drifting through life until he met them.
He finally had a sense of belonging and he never wanted to lose that.
Minho was hesitant at first, scared to mess something up and failing Jisung as a sire.
They discussed if Jisung should ask Chan instead. Their leader had also never turned anyone but Minho felt that he was more cut out to take the responsibility.
But in the end, something inside of Minho was appalled at the idea that someone other than himself would turn Jisung.

The first weeks of taking care of a fledgling were harder than Minho had expected. While it could have been worse, Jisung was pretty high-maintenance during that time. Later Minho would find out that this was pretty common for fledglings.

Jisung clung to Minho every possible second, always hugging him and cuddling up to him even if he wasn’t feeding.
For someone who had never been bitten by another vampire before, it felt weird feeding a fledgling, Jisung still lacked restraint, always biting down on Minho’s neck with full force, greedily drinking until Minho pushed him away long enough for the wound to close up.

According to the others, whenever Minho went out to hunt, which he had to do a lot more often now that he was feeding a hungry fledgling, Jisung would grow anxious, distant and silent, constantly staring at the door waiting for Minho’s return.

Minho also felt something change inside of him. He obviously cared about Jisung before but after turning him this feeling was turned up to eleven.
He also didn’t like not having his fledgling in his sight. When Jisung accidentally broke a glass and cut his hand in the process, Minho felt like the glass had pierced his own skin.
When Jisung felt sad, he also felt it somewhere in the back of his head.
He fussed over Jisung so much that the others had started jokingly calling him “mom”.

These feelings didn’t disappear as time went on but they did not overtake every aspect of his life anymore as Jisung slowly became more self-sufficient as a vampire.
When Chan turned Jeongin, he told Minho he was experiencing something similar, although not as strong as Minho. Minho saw Jisung as his other half, his soulmate, while Chan’s feelings toward Jeongin seemed to be purely parental.

When Felix woke after dying with Minho’s blood in his system, Minho felt it immediately. A new bond being forged between him and his fledgling.
He wanted to go there immediately, see if he was alright, feed his hungry child, but this was different than turning Jisung.

Chan was Felix’s boyfriend, he should talk to him first. He had been beyond distraught when they had found him with Felix’s dead body in his arms. For Chan’s sanity, he had to talk to Felix alone before Minho could swoop in and take care of his fledgling.

An hour after Felix had woken up, Minho heard Chan softly calling his name upstairs.
He followed the call but still knocked on the door carefully before entering.
Chan looked like he had cried earlier but smiled at Minho when he entered.
He had been angry at first when he found out that Minho had turned Felix but in the end he realized that the alternative was losing Felix dying. Minho didn’t blame him, the whole situation had been emotional and stressful.
Felix looked at Minho curiously, his blond hair accentuating the glowing red eyes.

“Hey, fledgling. How are you?” Minho asked, keeping his voice down so as to not startle Felix with his newly enhanced senses.

“Minho-hyung!” Felix greeted him. When he opened his mouth Minho could see his pearly white fangs.

“Look at you, you must be so hungry.” He couldn’t help himself but coo as he approached him and sat on the bed next to Felix.
Chan moved away slightly to give them more space.
Felix nodded, focusing on Minho alone as he came closer.

“Of course you are, let me take care of you, sunshine.” Minho pulled him into his lap.

Felix seemed unsure what to do at first but at the prospect of his sire’s blood instinct took over.
Minho hissed in pain when Felix bit down on his neck.
He let him take a few gulps, slowly petting his back to ease him more into it.
Felix relaxed in his arms as he continued to drain Minho.

“Aren’t you a greedy one?” Minho laughed breathily as he started pushing Felix away.

“I’m not finished…” Felix whined and tried leaning over more to bite Minho once more.

“Oh? How curious. It almost sounds like you are making the rules here.” Minho raised his eyebrows and pushed Felix away and held him at an arm’s length.
“Honestly, you were so much more polite before.” He scolded lightheartedly.

“I-I’m sorry, I don’t know what came over me…” Felix apologized, looking genuinely surprised by himself.

“It’s okay, you’ll get used to it.” He assured him before looking over at Chan.

The coven leader seemed to be caught between watching them and giving them some privacy. Minho could imagine how hard it was for Chan, there was a reason why Minho had wanted to turn Jisung himself. While it wasn’t inherently and necessarily romantic or sexual, there was a kind of intimacy between sire and fledgling. He knew that Chan wouldn’t act on this jealousy bubbling in his chest, he was too much of a good person. Minho didn’t know how his relationship with Felix would develop but he doubted that it would turn romantic in any way.
He would always cuddle with Jisung after feeding him as young vampires always got a bit sluggish afterwards but he already saw that he would have to make some changes with Felix.
He could already see that Felix’s eyelids drooped slightly.

“Channie-hyung? How about you take over?” Minho asked, snapping Chan out of his inner struggle.

Felix looked over at Chan too and slowly shifted away from Minho and towards his boyfriend.
He basically fell into Chan’s arms and put his head on his shoulder.
Minho slowly got up, prompting Felix to look back at him.

“Where are you going?” He asked with concern in his voice.

“You took quite some blood, Yongbokie, I have to get that back somehow.” Minho explained.

“Oh, will you come back here after?”

Minho sighed, he’d almost hoped that Jisung’s clinginess when he was a fledgling was based on them being a couple, Jeongin wasn’t that clingy with Chan, but Felix seemed to be very attached to him.

“I’ll come back, don’t worry, now go rest up a bit.” Minho promised. He stood there for another second, watching as Felix cuddled up to Chan, and maybe that was why it was easier for him to leave him. He knew his fledgling was safe and protected, he didn’t need to worry about leaving him for a few hours.

The first week, Felix clung to either him or Chan at every waking hour, and at every sleeping hour.
He still had to sleep more than the other vampires, even Jeongin and Jisung still got tired a lot more often than the others who barely had to sleep at all.
Felix still kept a very human 8-hours-a-day sleeping pattern, which didn’t include quick naps after feeding.
He usually slept wherever he was, leaning onto Chan or Minho.
Jisung had started sleeping with Minho more again since Felix had been turned.
Minho didn’t know if this was because of a sense of jealousy or opportunity.

This led to Minho being glued to the same spot for a few hours sometimes, it was even worse when Felix’s and Jisung’s sleep overlapped and Minho just ended up crowded and unable to move for a few hours while Jisung was sprawled over his torso and Felix was resting his head in Minho’s lap.

He wouldn’t mind if it wasn’t so boring, carding through their hair and watching them sleep could only be interesting for so long.
But he never complained about it, if his fledglings needed to feel safe when sleeping, he would be there. Luckily, Felix was sleeping with Chan often enough.

The second week came with Felix testing out his new abilities, more accidentally than intended.
This resulted in multiple broken glasses (Jisung liked to point out that Felix broke more glasses than him), a broken controller (Felix promised to Changbin and Hyunjin not to touch their console until he got his strength under control), and unfortunately one broken rib (Felix had apologized profusely to Seungmin, it was supposed to be a playful jab to the stomach that resulted in Seungmin being hunched over clutching his side).

Felix also ran into doors, walls and people, misjudging the speed that came with being a vampire severely.
They hoped his clumsiness would lessen as he got more used to his new body, but in the end everything that broke was easily replaceable, or healed in a matter of hours.

In total, Felix’s first two weeks were demanding but manageable, Minho could deal with that.
The third week brought a new challenge for them, one Minho was less familiar with.

It started when Minho and Jisung were out to hunt.
Minho let the body of the middle-aged man he’d just drained fall to the ground. He would probably survive if anyone found him in time but he didn’t really care if he died or not.
Still, Minho found himself weirdly sad at the sight.

“Min, is everything okay?” Jisung asked.

“I don’t know…” Minho felt like crying and he was still trying to figure out what about hurting this man made him so sad when he finally realized where the feeling came from. He wasn’t really feeling sad, Felix was.

“It’s Yongbokkie. Something is wrong, we need to get home immediately.” Minho said, grabbing Jisung by the arm as he started running towards their house.

They arrived in a matter of minutes, finding Chan and Hyunjin trying to console both Felix and Jeongin.

“What happened? Did anyone get hurt?” Minho asked, a slight panic coloring his voice.

“Lixie got a call from his mom…” Hyunjin explained, confusing Minho more about the situation.
He’d thought Felix had a fairly good relationship with his family, what could his mother have said that upset him so much?
The idea that Felix's own mother said something that made him cry, made Minho angry.

“What did she say?” His voice was cold and angry.

“Wha- hyung! Nothing! Calm down!” Hyunjin’s eyes went wide at Minho’s anger.

“She- she misses me, an-and I wanted to visit her during my break but now…” Felix told him through tears before burying his face in Chan’s shoulder.

Minho’s anger lifted immediately, “Oh…”

That also explained why Jeongin was crying too, he also hadn’t seen his family since he became a vampire.

“Don’t worry, you’ll see them again one day. We just have to be sure that you’re not a danger to them.” Chan tried to calm both of them down.

He was glad that Chan was a turned vampire like them because Minho felt himself unable to relate.
While he also didn’t see his family in a few decades he didn’t find himself to miss them. Their relationship hadn’t been bad per se but he’d also never been that close to them.

He looked over at Jisung for help but his partner just shrugged at him.
Jisung had lost his family when he was very young, years before he’d even met them. Turning into a vampire had been his decision, it happened at a time of his own choosing. He’d been prepared and ready to leave his human life behind.
Jeongin and Felix on the other hand were turned spontaneously to save their lives.

“Most of us had to go through something similar, it gets better, I promise.” Hyunjin sat back down next to Jeongin and patted his back.
Minho and Jisung joined them quickly.
It took a while for both of them to calm down.

“Do you want to talk about it, Lixie, Innie?” Chan asked when they had both stopped sniffling.
When they didn’t answer immediately, both looking unsure, Chan decided to take the lead.

“You know, when I was turned it was also a bit unexpected. I survived a World War just to die of one of the last remnants of the Spanish flu. Talk about bad luck, right? The pandemic was over and I still managed to catch it. My sire was a doctor, I don’t think he was a vampire for a long time himself, he probably thought he would save me and that was it. He gave me his blood and left. I was alone for a few weeks, not even knowing what was happening to me. I caught rats to feed from, then Minho’s mother found me and took me in. Without my sire it took me a long time to adjust, too long, so I couldn’t really go back to my family afterwards. They were convinced I died.”

“What did you do then?” Jeongin asked.

“I kept my distance but I checked up on them over the years. It hurt of course but I watched them dealing with their grief and finding happiness again.” Chan explained.

“I’m sorry that happened to you, Channie…” Felix kissed him on the cheek.

“It’s okay. I am still trying to check up on my siblings’ children and grandchildren every few years and while I miss my family I’m glad to see that they are happy and flourishing. And now I have a new family that I love just as much.”
He petted through Jeongin’s hair and gave Felix another kiss.

“So, do you want to tell us what is worrying you so much?” He put the question back on the fledglings.

Jeongin sighed, “It’s been a year and a half but I still can’t control myself around blood. I’m afraid that it will take so long that I can’t go back to my family after all because I won’t look my age anymore… I’m sick of finding excuses why I can’t visit them.”

“You’re doing great, Innie. You’re so much better at this than I was.” Jisung jumped in before Chan could say anything.

“It’s true, Jisungie still fed off my blood sometimes at your age.” Minho added, which earned him a betrayed look from his partner.

Jeongin managed to laugh a little at that.

“J-just because it was cozy and you offered!” He defended himself.

“And I would still feed you if I didn’t also have to take care of Yongbokkie.” Minho teased.

“Anyway, you’ll get there Innie. We’re all here to help you.” Chan assured the young man.

“What about you, Yongbokkie?” Minho asked his own fledgling.

“I also want to see my family obviously, but it’s also that I just realized that I can’t just go back to my normal life even when I can be around humans. I can’t finish university because all of my classes are during daytime, my parents were so proud of me when I was accepted and now I have to tell them that I can’t finish my degree. I don’t even know what to tell them exactly. I put so much effort into it and now it was all for nothing. I loved being out in the sun and going to the beach, eating at cute little cafés, and… and so much more, and now I can’t do these things anymore…” Felix wiped another stray tear that escaped his eyes away.

“Oh, fledgling, don’t cry.” Minho tried calming him down, “I’m sure we can find alternatives for you.”
Felix let go of Chan briefly to fall into his sire’s arms.

Minho ran his hand through his hair and whispered calming phrases like “It’s going to be okay.” to sooth him.
They stayed like this until the sun rose and both Chan and Minho were caught in a pile of their sleeping fledglings.

After five weeks, Felix managed to detach himself from Minho after feeding more consistently. By now, Minho was also only feeding him twice a week instead of every second day. Felix also managed to be separated from Chan and Minho for a slightly longer period, as long as one of the others were still with him, he didn’t want to be alone.

They decided that it was time to take Felix outside for the first time since he turned. They decided on a park nearby as it was unlikely that they would meet anyone there in the middle of the night.
Chan and Minho both did not want to leave Felix out of their sight for the first time he was outside and Jisung wanted to come with Minho so he wouldn’t become too overbearing.

Minho scoffed at Jisung’s reasoning when he brought it up, he wasn’t overbearing.
Just ten minutes later, he had to admit that Jisung might be right when Felix nicked his own lip with one of his fangs and Minho immediately started fussing over him.
He could hear Hyunjin snicker behind his back, “He’s almost even more of a mother hen than with Jisungie.”

“Hyunjinnie, are you hungry?” Minho asked him in a sugary sweet voice, pulling some tissues out of a box on the table.

“Hyung?” Hyunjin asked, confused by the question until he spotted the tissues.

“No! Not again!” He yelled and tried to run away but Minho was faster as he grabbed Hyunjin’s face and stuffed the tissues in his mouth as revenge for the comment.

The next night they got ready to leave as soon as the sun set.
Felix had been looking outside through their UV-proof windows for the whole day as if this would make the sun go down more quickly.

“Come on! Hurry up!” He called when it was finally dark outside, already waiting at the door, ready to leave.

“Kids these days…” Minho grumbled jokingly as Chan, Jisung and him followed Felix to the door and put their shoes on.

Chan took Felix’s hand and locked their fingers together as they stepped outside. Minho wasn’t sure if this was to ground him before going outside or to keep him from immediately running away.

Jisung also grabbed Minho’s hand and leaned towards him, “Relax, everything is going to be fine.” He said in a reassuring tone.
Minho was indeed a bit tense. Theoretically, it was impossible something bad could happen, there were three of them to keep an eye on Felix and their surroundings.
He could feel Felix’s joy when they stepped outside.
And while there was a buzzing excitement underneath his fledgling’s skin he managed to keep himself under control until they reached the park.

“What’s that? Can you hear that?” He asked, looking around to find the source of a high-pitched squeaking.

“Oh, it’s bats, see up there?” Chan answered, pointing at a small shadow setting itself apart from the dark sky.

Felix looked up, fascination showing in his face, “You never told me how cool everything looks at night for you!”

“Don’t blame them, Channie-hyung probably doesn’t even remember how shitty humans’ vision is at night and Min never had that issue.” Jisung laughed, letting go of Minho’s hand.

He looked around briefly to check if they were alone.
The next moment he was holding Felix’s phone, “How about you try to catch me?” He teased before disappearing.

“Hey! Wait!” Felix yelled and let go of Chan’s hand before zooming after Jisung.

“Stay in the park!” Chan reminded them as they ran off.

They watched them for a while until Chan finally spoke up.
“I’m glad they have fun.”

Minho looked over to him, trying to read his expression. He was clearly happy but there was something else behind his eyes.
“Did you have any doubts about it?” He asked.

“Can’t hide anything from you, can I?” Chan let out a little self-deprecating laugh.
“I was afraid he couldn’t handle it, I feel stupid for doubting him like that but after his breakdown about missing his family and his human life…”

“Yongbokkie is really resilient but I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t worried for a short time.” Minho assured him.

“I don’t think I apologized to you yet…” Chan looked to the ground briefly.

“Apologize for what?” Minho couldn’t recall if Chan had slighted him recently.

“I snapped at you pretty badly when I found out you turned Felix… I never apologized. I’m sorry, Minho. I was so scared that all of this would change him, that he wouldn’t be the same anymore. And, ugh this is so stupid, I think I was jealous that you turned him, and that he’s so dependent on you but you’re doing a good job as his sire.”

“You big idiot…” Minho shook his head, “You didn’t offend me, so you don’t need to apologize.”

“Still, I’m sorry.” Chan repeated.

“Fine, apology accepted. Watch out, they’re coming back.” Minho said and took a step back from Chan.

Before Chan could react Jisung had put Felix’s phone in his hand, which was followed by the latter colliding with Chan, causing them both to fall over and roll on the ground.
When they finally came to a stop, Felix collapsed on Chan’s chest laughing.
Jisung popped up next to Minho again.

“Looks kinda comfortable down there, right?” He suggested.

Minho raised his eyebrows, “Is that your way of telling me that you want to roll around in the grass with me?” He then added with a whisper in Jisung’s ear, “Or do you prefer a roll in the hay?”

“Hyung!” Jisung complained and blushed slightly.

“I love that you’re still so easily flustered.” Minho gave him a short kiss and then sat down on the ground with him.

“Just because we have company…” Jisung sat down with him and put his head on Minho’s shoulder as Minho put his arms around him.

“Barely, they are way too caught up in their own thing to count as company.” Minho said and nodded towards Felix and Chan who were still laughing and whispering sweet things to each other as they lay on the ground.

“I don’t know when he last had some quiet time, I missed this.” Jisung said, slipping more into Minho’s lap to cuddle.

“Yeah, the last month has been pretty busy…” Minho agreed, aside from their hunts together they had barely spent any alone time together.

“Now that Lix is more independent, maybe we can go out again? Remember that Japanese place that we’ve wanted to try?” Jisung suggested, looking up at him with his adorable doe-like eyes.

“Ohhh, honey, have I neglected you too much?” Minho cooed and kissed Jisung’s forehead.

“I mean, a little bit…” He said.

“I’m sorry. I spent too much time worrying about my new fledgling that I forgot about my baby.” Minho chuckled mischievously.

“Alright, let’s have a real date night soon.”
Jisung smiled at that, “I’ll keep you to it.”

The next two months were filled with ups and downs.
Felix loved going outside, experiencing the world with his vampiric senses.
Chan even took him on a small trip out of the city to a nature reserve. Minho was a bit anxious to let them leave alone, he had to remind himself that his fledgling was safe with Chan. Jisung helped him take his mind off his worries. It also helped that he could only feel positive emotions flood through his bond with Felix.
As soon as his fledgling returned, he couldn’t help but fuss over him slightly, even feeding him outside of their schedule just to calm his nerves.

After a while Minho could handle letting Felix go outside with one of the others instead of him and Chan. It went fine the first few times, Chan and Minho could resume their jobs at the club most nights while Changbin, Hyunjin, Seungmin or Jisung went back to the park with Felix.
Minho had almost grown comfortable letting his fledgling out of his sight when he suddenly felt distress over their bond. He was filling in for Jisung at the bar when he was so overwhelmed with aggression and panic that he broke the glass he was holding.

“Hyung, are you okay?” Jeongin asked.
A few patrons were eyeing Minho with confused looks.

“I need to leave. I have to find Yongbok…” He said, looking around for Jisung to come back to the bar so there would be someone to keep an eye on Jeongin in case anything happened.

“It’s okay, hyung. Go, I’ll just call Jisung-hyung.” Jeongin assured him and took out his phone.
Minho could just nod before leaving.
He had to keep himself from using his vampiric speed until he was out of the club before finally rushing home.
Before he arrived he could already feel his phone vibrate as Hyunjin tried to call him.
He and Changbin had been with Felix tonight, taking him back to the park as Hyunjin wanted to find inspiration for a new painting.
Hyunjin was waiting for him in front of the house.

“What happened? Where is he?” Minho asked immediately when he arrived, surprising Hyunjin with his sudden appearance.

“He’s inside with Changbinnie. I’ll tell you more later okay. I think he really needs you now.” Hyunjin quickly told him.

Minho quickly ran inside where he found Changbin sitting with Felix, petting his back in a calming way. Dirt stained both their clothes, even Felix’s blond hair was partially brown from earth stuck in it.

“It’s okay, it’s not your fault. Stuff like that just happens. You did really great.” He could hear Changbin say.
When Minho entered the room, Felix looked up to him, his hands trembling as he reached out for Minho.

“Oh come here, fledgling. Tell me what happened.” Minho opened his arms, a second later Felix was already clinging to him.
Minho sat down with him, hugging Felix close.

“Do you want to talk about what happened?” Minho asked sweetly.
Felix didn’t answer, he just shrugged his shoulders.
Minho looked at Hyunjin and Changbin for an answer.

“We were surprised by some teenagers who walked home through the park. Felix actually did really well at first. But one of them tripped and scraped her knee.” Hyunjin explained.

He could feel Felix hugging him closer and Minho started petting his back soothingly.
“It’s okay, I can imagine what happened then.” He said.

“I hurt Hyunjinnie…” Felix mumbled guiltily into Minho’s shoulder, where he was hiding his face.

“It’s okay, I told you. It barely even hurts anymore…” Hyunjin assured him.

“Felix almost ran off towards the blood but Hyunjin stopped him, Lix broke his arm…” Changbin told Minho.

“And Changbinnie too…” Felix mumbled again.

“I’m also okay, Lix. You didn’t seriously injure anyone, I was worried I hurt you accidentally.”

Minho looked at him questioningly.
“I threw him to the ground to hold him there until the kids were gone. He lashed out and broke a few of my ribs…”
That explained why they were so dirty, Minho thought.

Felix’s voice was shaky, “I really wanted to kill them and drink their blood. It’s like I forgot everything and there was just blood and those keeping me from getting it… I felt like a-”

“Don’t call yourself a monster, because it’s not true.” Minho interrupted him.

“But, I-” Felix wanted to argue but Minho didn’t want him to solidify the thought.

“Do you think I’m a monster? Or Channie? Or any of the others?” He asked.

“No, of course not…” Felix immediately answered.

“Exactly, so there are no buts, you are not a monster, you are just young and still learning how to control yourself, it will get easier with time and exposure. And Jinnie said you did so well controlling yourself before they fell and scraped their knee. You should be so proud of yourself.”

“Really?”

“I wouldn’t lie to you, fledgling. Now, is there something you want to ask me?” Minho knew Felix had to be hungry after this.

“Hyung? Can I have some blood?” Felix asked shyly, clearly still embarrassed about almost losing control.

“Of course, fledgling.”
Minho felt Felix’s sharp teeth dig into his neck and let him drink.
They stayed like this until Chan finally arrived and took his boyfriend upstairs to sleep.

Felix started to get hungry more frequently again after another month, they all knew it was a sign that Minho’s blood couldn’t satisfy the young vampire anymore. It was time for them to show Felix how to hunt and feed himself.

It was again something neither Chan nor Minho wanted to miss as the first hunt was a major milestone in a vampire’s life.

They also wanted to be there in case something went wrong.
They brought Felix to one of their usual hunting grounds, the club.
The VIP room was far enough away from most people while also overseeing everything.
Felix was clutching Chan’s hand tightly, the other doing the same to ground the young vampire and keep him from getting too overwhelmed by the amount of humans close-by.

Minho smiled, “You’re doing great, fledgling.” He praised.

“I know there is a lot going on at the same time but you have to focus and look at specific people.” Chan explained.
Felix nodded, but his attention was mostly taken up by the crowd.

“Don’t worry about choosing anyone, we’ll make sure it’s not someone who doesn’t deserve it at least a little bit.” Minho commented, following Felix’s eyes to see who he was looking at.

At the prospect of blood even the most righteous, moral person could forget themselves but that’s why Felix wasn’t alone. Chan and Minho would keep him from doing something he’d regret afterwards.
Felix’s wandering gaze stopped at a middle-aged man who sauntered up to the bar.

Chan had spotted him too, “I’ll have to talk to the bouncers about letting banned people in.”

“You know this guy?” Minho asked.

“He harassed Lix, it’s actually how we first met.” Chan clued him in.

Felix’s face hardened as he stared at him.
“Him.” The fledgling decided.

“We have a winner.” Minho laughed and called up Jisung at the bar.

They watched as Jisung told the man to go up to the VIP room as he had caught someone’s eye and was invited.
The man grinned sleazily and made his way up to the private room.
Chan and Minho got out of direct sight from the door, leaving Felix on the couch.
The man entered, eyeing Felix curiously.

“Hey there, beautiful, I heard you wanted to see me.” He said and closed the door behind himself.

Felix was biting his lip trying to restrain himself from immediately jumping him.

“Wait, I know you. You’re that pretty thing that brushed me off a few months ago. Finally changed your mind so I can show you a good time?” He confidently sauntered up to Felix.

He didn’t even notice Chan and Minho behind him.
As he got closer, Felix’s control slowly started fading.
His eyes turned red with hunger and he had to open his mouth slightly to make space for his growing fangs.

“What the fuck?” The man took a step back again, bumping into Chan who now held him in place for Felix.

“Go ahead, fledgling. Just do it exactly like when you bite me.” Minho encouraged Felix.

“What are you freaks? What are you doing?” The man yelled.

Felix took a deep breath, taking in the scent, and rushed up to the man, viciously biting his neck.
The man’s mouth was contorted in a silent scream that never came as the numbing sensation of the bite took hold.
Felix groaned at the heavenly taste of the blood.
Minho could feel the satisfaction over their bond.
The man would have collapsed if Chan wasn’t still holding him up.
Felix continued to drain him until there was no more blood to take, caught up in his instincts he bit down on the man’s flesh a few more times as if this would coax more blood from the empty body.
When he realized he couldn’t get more blood, Felix released the man and looked around, searching for a source of more blood. There was blood all over his face and hair, he still had to learn how to feed more cleanly.
Chan let the dead man drop to the ground and took Felix into his arms.
It took Felix another second to snap out of it, briefly struggling against Chan’s hold before blinking and calming down. His eyes turned brown again as the blood settled in his body and his hunger was sated for now.

“You did great, Lixie.” Chan praised and kissed him.

“I killed him…” Felix realized, the emotion in his voice was unclear but Minho could feel it over their bond. He was confused more than anything.
“It was so easy…” Felix continued, looking at Chan and Minho questioningly.

“It was, one day you’ll learn to resist enough to not kill the humans you feed on.” Chan said, brushing Felix’s hair away from his face.

“I feel like I should be more conflicted but… I don’t think I’m sad or anything…”

“You knew he was a bad person. I think it’s our psyche protecting us from breaking. We know we have to feed, so as long as we don’t kill people we would feel bad about, it doesn’t 100% register with us.” Chan tried to reason.

Minho had assumed something similar for quite some time. It was not in their nature to care about humans but they still had morals. As long as they didn’t spiral too far out of control and their victims aligned with their morals, it was almost impossible for them to actually feel bad.

“Let’s get you cleaned up, yes?” Minho suggested, guiding Felix to the bathroom adjacent to the VIP room.

If anyone had asked Minho if he’d consider turning someone into a vampire ten years ago, he would have rolled his eyes and told them not to be stupid.
Being a sire, a good sire, was a lot of work that Minho just didn’t want to deal with but now Minho knew it was worth it.
He loved taking care of his fledglings, it brought him more fulfillment than anything else in his life.
He wanted to spend the rest of his immortal life with Jisung, and he wanted to see Felix grow and thrive like a father would want to watch his child.
Jisung had already joked that Felix should call him and Minho dad, sometimes even calling Chan his son-in-law.
Minho was sure his instincts were playing a trick on him but he would swear that their family had been missing a member until he turned Felix.
But now the eight of them were together and it was perfect.
