Summary
Modern AU, 1999. Cersei is 17 years old, in her final year of primary education before attending university. She grows up in King's Landing, attending the same circles that her mother, Joanna Lannister, had as a girl, very close to House Targaryen. She has little to no knowledge regarding her mother's family or her biological father, a man she is told died before she was born. Joanna refuses to divulge any information regarding Cersei's father or her own family of origin, citing a dispute of inheritance and the two are severed from most ties to the Westerlands. When Cersei is small, Joanna marries Reynard Reyne, a wealthy oil tycoon from Castamere in the Westerlands who legally adopts Cersei and gives her his name. After their union, Joanna insists that Cersei remain in the capital, the only home she had ever known, to attend the same schools her mother had.. until this past summer. Joanna's sudden insistence upon Cersei spending her final year of school in the Westerlands is a peculiar one, but not one Cersei can refuse if she is to access her trust when she turns 18. Little does Cersei know, her identity will become radically altered during this time when she meets Jaime Lannister, a boy who transforms all.
