Ace of Spades
The Prologue
“Need a drink, Lenni?” The bartender looks at the man expectantly. Lenni doesn’t respond at first, looking out the window. For a moment, the man doesn’t think he’ll respond at all. “Jack Daniel's, thanks.”
It’s raining in Cyber, and it’ll rain for the rest of the day. The rain usually causes blackouts due to the whole place being made of technology. This time, every single light stays on. They pass him the drink, “Are you going to stay for a while?” Lenni shakes his head, “Gotta check up on my brother.”
The bartender nods before going to check up on the other customers. He sighs and adjusts his gloves, grabbing his umbrella. He leaves a tip before grabbing his drink and leaving the building. It’s pouring and it's definitely irritating him, but he doesn’t pay too much attention to it. Besides, he has an umbrella anyways.
“Son of a.. Are you serious?” The umbrella slips from his hands and is swept away. He shakes his head and steps out into the rain, instantly getting soaked. Though he’s getting drenched, he admires the city and its bright light. As he walks home, he attempts not to step in any puddles.
Lenni ends up stepping in one anyways which gets him more annoyed. He walks up the front steps to his house and freezes, the door is unlocked. He locked it before he went out. Something was wrong, and it freaked him out. He bursts into the house and looks around, looking for any sign of his brother.
“KORA!? WHERE ARE YOU?” There was no response at all. He knocks on the door to his room, hoping he was just having a bad day. He opened the door and the entire room was trashed. There was only a note left on his bed.
He picked it up and all he could read was that Kora had been taken away from Xan. He lost his mind. Lenni stormed out of the room and picked up his ax. He knew where exactly to find him, he’s dealt with the manipulator before.
He bolted out the house, running without stopping. Xan was a monster, the most well known of them all. He only used the people he talked to, treating them like experiments. After being subjected to so much psychological torture, he knew this by now. He had to help his brother, he would get rid of anybody in his way.
But most of all, he’ll get revenge on the man that ruined his life.
