Summary
Wade pauses mid-sentence, catching Peter’s gaze. There’s something in the way Peter’s looking at him, something warm, like he’s memorizing every inch of Wade’s face. It's not the first time he's noticed, but it feels heavier now. A different kind of weight.

When did this happen? When did they go from just patrol buddies, just two idiots in masks, to this? Wade’s eyes flick to the TV, but his thoughts don’t follow. What is this, anyway? Best friends? Shower buddies?
Peter saved his life once, when they met for the first time. Wade’s died a hundred times, and none of them ever mattered as much as that one time Peter showed up. Why? And why does his dying affect Peter so much, when he knows he’ll just wake right back up? Why does Peter look at him like Wade’s the one thing in the world he can’t afford to lose?
Would he do anything for Peter? The answer comes without hesitation: yes. Anything. Wade would go anywhere, fight anyone, break anything, and he wouldn’t even ask why. Why does this nerd in red and blue spandex make him feel like this? He’s Deadpool.
Peter’s eyes flick back up to Wade’s face, and Wade’s brain short-circuits for a second.
