"We never met but he's all I see every night "

Summertime was always a joy to embrace but brought sad moments as fall meant it was time for College to start , North didn't have much friends growing up till he met Babe and Way in school .
Then eventually he met Winner and Dean but Then again he didn't need to meet anyone else because people tend to be hurtful people , not everyone but a majority of the time they couldn't be trusted .
It was always them till Dean met Winner in school and their friend group grew a little , that was until Dean suddenly transferred when the school was doing nothing to stop his bullies .
Then the friend group was just him with Alan and Way and his best friend Babe , which North still was unsure about but still let him in .
But that was 2 years ago .
"North! It's time to go , don't make us late again " Babe leaned his face in front of North who pushed him way , he cleaned the grass off his pants and looked to see Way was walking towards them but he was deep on his phone .
"Funny , never thought I would see the day when Babe didn't want to be late " was his reply and he waved high to Way who suddenly gasped and quickly hid his phone .
"Spill and talk " Babe called out before starting the walk towards school , North felt out of place as they knew each other longer before North moved to the city so he just went back into his thoughts .
"Pete liked my story - I never should have posted it " Way's words brought him back into the present time , North smiled but just stayed silent the whole way till they arrived at the school .
"Don't tell Winner but I found out that Dean is coming back for college , he's not ready for Winner to know yet " Alan had texted the group chat which made Way smile as he was close friends with Dean .
They all were but Dean and Way had a special bond , "Won't Winner be mad when he finds out we knew and kept it from him?" North suddenly asked as they were heading to the class room , he looked to see Dean was arriving but he wasn't alone .
There was someone he didn't know or never seen before walking with Dean into the building , he wanted to go and ask but they waited .
North wondered why his mind was on that stranger that came with Dean , as when they reunited later that person never came and Dean didn't mention it so he would do his best to forget it .
"I should go , I promised Winner and Pete I would meet them for lunch " North spoke as the friends were doing a study group during the first break , but he looked to see Dean's face change at the mention of Winner's name but didn't say anything other than nod at North .
"Weird " North thought .
{later that day }
Dean had finally reunited with Winner which they all were happy for , but there still was a lot of tension as Dean refused to talk to him and Winner was trying his best not to let out what he was feeling .
"Hey, why don't we get some dessert after class ?" North asked Winner as a way to keep his mind distracted today until Dean finally talked to him , his friend nodded and stood up with him but looked at their friend one more time .
"Must be nice " North thought in his mind , he just wished both of them would talk out what they were feeling , so they could get their old friend group back and not have any tension .
Except for the PeteWay situation but that was normal , "North , how - do you get someone to talk to you again ?" Winner suddenly asked which pulled him into the present time , he rubbed his back as they sat down at a nearby table .
"You talking about Dean?" North asked and looked around but that is when he saw the stranger again , he wondered who that was and why he was with Dean earlier .
Were they a thing?.
"Yeah, why did he leave? Was it cuz of me or something else?" Winner asked.
That was not something that he knew but North still wrapped his arm to hug his friend , "just give Dean time okay? He will open up to you again I promise " North smiled and looked up to see that person walk right by him and accidentally spill their drink all over him .
But they kept walking .
"Hey!"
The person turned around and gave him a look that made North a little mad , "you spilled your drink on me " he stated and grabbed towels to clean his shirt and Winner stood right behind him to help fight this person if needed .
"You asking me or telling a statement " the person replied .
"Sonic , be nice " the person behind him said and Sonic turned and looked at the two of them , he sighed and rolled his eyes before handing a tank top out of his bag .
"Here , use this and I'm sorry for your loss " Sonic replied and walked away , North didn't know if he should be thankful they gave him a shirt or be mad with the tone and attitude they gave him .
"North let's just get back to our college " Winner replied and started dragging him away , one thing was sure and he hoped that this Sonic person never showed up to him again .
But he wondered why or How Dean knew him , "you guys are back , did you go get some dessert or clothes shopping " Way asked with a laugh as they walked back to their friend group .
"Don't " Winner mumbled but they all see North just scoff before sitting down next to Way who was sitting next to Dean who looked up when he saw the noise , but he just smiled at them before turning back to his book.
North watched as each of their friends left and it was just him and Way as away was freaking out over something that had to do with the school president Pete .
"So what happened? Why did you suddenly change shirts and Winner said don't ?" Way asked as he finally calmed down , North just laid down on the grass and sighed .
Way looked and saw that it was something bad so he laid down next to his friend , he turned off his phone and looked over at North .
"Ran into a jerk at the dessert place , he was going to just walk off unless I called out to him " North finally spoke , at least he would never run into that Sonic person again.
"Did you punch him?" Way asked .
"Why is that your first response always , you said the same thing when Winner made Dean mad years ago " North chuckled and smiled , still he placed the memory in his back mind because they were never going to see each other again .
At least that is what he thought .
Across the city , Sonic closed the door to his apartment that he shared with friends from his childhood and collapsed down on the couch .
"What happened?" Charlie popped his head out as he was also trying to focus on not burning the food , his brother was not back yet from college and Charlie wasn't starting for a few more days.
"Bad interaction at the place today , just want to forget it " Sonic placed his hand across his forehead , he would go to school next year but for now it was time to just relax .
"I'll head to bed , you staying up till Jeff gets home right ?" Sonic asked but he knew that was the routine for them , when one of them was out at night because it felt safe .
"Sleep well , Jeff is making breakfast tomorrow before class but join us okay?" Charlie called out but Sonic was already in bed, and felt something off but ingored it as he went to sleep .
{the next morning }
Sonic mostly stayed in the back behind the brothers with headphones on his head , he only knew them and Dean and didn't really know the rest of the friend group so he was going to stay quiet for now .
That was until he saw one of the friends there , it was the same guy from earlier .
"You- wow didn't change clothes" North finally spoke and smirked which made Sonic roll his eyes , they both stared at each other until Dean finally spoke up .
"You- two know each other?" He asked .
"No" Sonic rolled his eyes and just started walking off, he texted his roommates he would be back later but just wanted to explore the campus a little bit.
North on the other hand at first was mad that he saw the jerk from earlier but now he kinda was glad to see him , if he knew Charlie and Jeff as well as Dean then maybe as their friend too that he should get to know this Sonic guy.
if only it was that easy.
