Chapter Text
It was a rainy Saturday at N109 Zone when Mephisto decided he wanted to go out due to boredom. Sylus wasn't around to order the crow today as he was out due to a business meeting. Mephisto's used to moving around, but it seems like his 'master' does not have anything for him to do today.
He'd love to stay inside the big mansion, to be honest. However, the twins are getting on his nerves, if he even has that. They got this new card game from Linkon City and they've both been cheating on each other. It seems like they're having so much fun but all Mephisto wanted to do was to eat those kitties to stop the two from being loud. 'They look tasty', he thought to himself.
Standing on his metal perch, looking out the window, he realized he also won't enjoy flying around N109 Zone. The heavy rain would just weigh him down and it won't be a pleasant time, he's already heavy considering he's made of metal too.
So, Mephisto found himself at a sunny Linkon City. He doesn't go here much, unless Sylus has something for him to fetch. So, this is his first time to actually explore the city. The city is alright, just too bright and loud for his liking. Plus, there's a lot of people. He tries to avoid them as much as possible since they're not very pleasant to crows at all. Also, the fact that he has bright red eyes would probably send them into orbit. He cawed at that funny thought.
Mephisto found a secluded area in a forest nearby, there weren't any people so he landed on the ground. Looking at the ground, he found some random items. He likes to collect shiny things and give it to Sylus, though the latter would just put his gifts in a box near his desk. Mephisto doesn't know if he liked it or he wanted to get rid of it. That doesn't stop him from getting him more though. Sylus doesn't complain anyways so he continued, maybe he'll find something nice today.
While minding his own business, a piece of bread suddenly dropped near him, before he heard a voice.
"Poor guy must be so hungry, you can have my bread!" the voice said, Mephisto cannot help but look up at the source of the voice. He found himself staring at a woman. As soon as they made eye contact, her eyes widened.
Oh, here it goes
"Are you a demon?!" she shrieked, jumping as far as she can away from the bird.
"No, you idiot" Mephisto cawed back, unfortunately for him, she won't be able to understand what he said. Not wanting any drama, he ignored her and went the opposite way. Though it seems like the red-eyed crow caught her curiosity so now she's following him.
"Are you a new type of wanderer?!" she spoke, suddenly pointing a gun at him, seeming like she's ready for a battle. "But I don't sense any fluctuations" she mumbled before lowering her gun.
"Leave me alone, please." he cawed, continuing what he was doing on the ground earlier. He still hasn't found something to bring home.
"I've never seen a crow with red eyes before" she said, talking to herself. A few minutes of him ignoring her presence, she finally lowered her guard. Maybe she finally realized I won't do anything to her.
"Are you looking for food? Do you not like the bread?" she bent down near him, holding a piece of bread. Mephisto doesn't really need to eat, he's a mechanical crow afterall. He doesn't know why it's not registering in this human's head that he doesn't eat as it was so obvious that he's made out of metal. 'Maybe she's stupid' Mephisto thought to himself.
He cawed at her, hoping she'll leave him alone.
She suddenly stood up and walked away. Mephisto felt relief, he can finally be at peace. So he continued searching, he found a shiny paperclip, he knows what's it called because he already gave one of that to Sylus. He remembered his master looking pleased with his gift.
"Uhh a paperclip?" Sylus looks amused, Mephisto cawed. "Thanks?" Sylus placed it inside his drawer, not the usual box where he puts his other gifts. Mephisto assumed he really liked it that's why he placed it in a different box. Unbeknownst to him, Sylus just placed it among his other paperclips. Mephisto made a mental note to collect all paperclips he can find. Sylus, on the other hand, cannot really complain as he suddenly has an infinite amount of paperclips for his paper works.
Mephisto picked up the paperclip with his beak when suddenly it was taken from him and tossed away, somewhere he may never see again.
"No! Don't eat that, that's not good for you!" he heard the same voice again, the woman's back and she's holding some cheese slices and a bottle of water. 'Is she trying to shortcircuit me?' Mephisto thought.
Annoyed that he lost the paperclip, he can't help but feel angry at this woman who can't seem to mind her own business. So he flew up and attacked her.
"Oww! You bitch, get back here! I'm trying to feed you and this is what I get?" was the last thing he heard from her as he flew away from that obnoxious woman. He laughed, seeing how messy and angry she looked. She looked like she was ganged up.
He hoped it will be the last time he'll see that girl.
But fate has other plans.
And that's where the beef among the two started.
