Chapter Text

                        Chapter 1

The sun shined gently down on Mobius; the shine created a peaceful atmosphere. Yet, despite the calming appearance, there was a slight disturbance as one of the inhabitants stormed through the park. His vibrant azure fur glowed as the sunrays caught him through the leaves of the trees. His triangular ears twitched as he picked up snippets of conversation around him, as he tried to get rid of the irritation he felt.

“Is that…”

“… anyways, I can’t wait for that movie.”

“I wonder what he is…”

“…Sonic the…”

Finaly, he arrived at the edge of the park, but it was no use as he is still slightly upset. And it’s all that fakers fault, as he sat down on an empty bench, his feet barely touching the ground as he reminisced about earlier. His expression soured as he recalled his conversation with the ultimate jerkface. Perhaps overreacting a bit, but Sonic did not care. He knew he could totally use chaos control without an emerald. Despite what Shadow told him earlier in their lovely conversation. Which the more he thought about it the more indigent he got, as he flashed back to it.

“Hey Shadow, my older and wiser friend, how are you doing?” Sonic asked with a somewhat too casual tone, as he walked up to the black and red hedgehog. Shadow, sensing something is amiss, only gives Sonic a blank stare. Which Sonic continues with his usual wit, “This is the part where you say, ‘I’m doing good, how are you doing.’” But Shadow only raises an eyebrow, clearly unimpressed, as he folds his arms across his chest. Sonic, not being one for silence continues on, “Well, I’ve been thinking-“. Finally, Shadow responds, cutting Sonic off mid-sentence.

“Get to the point.” That was rather rude Sonic thought, as he crossed his arms over his chest, copying Shadow before continuing. However, it didn’t go unnoticed by Shadow who gave a slight eye roll as sonic opened his mouth,

“You know how I used that fake emerald to teleport out of that capsule that was sending me to my doom?” Sonic paused, expecting Shadow to say yes, but when nothing was said he continued, “What if I tried that without an emerald.” To which Shadow answers.

“Absolutely not.” and already knowing Sonic is going to ask why, he continues, “ The fact that you managed to do that is a mystery, but to try it without any form of help would be a fool’s errand, and dangerous” Shadow finished, red eyes meeting green as he hoped sonic would drop it.

“But you can do it without an emerald, and you’re okay… Mostly.” Sonic said while his lips curved upwards. Shadow, however, was less amused, but before he could respond, Sonic’s gloved hand shot up, wagging his finger at the taller male. “Ah ah ah, I’m not finished yet. I don’t see why you think I can’t do it. After all, you and I are like two peas in a pod.”.  Sonic continued as he poked Shadow on his tuff of chest fur. “Plus, anything you can do-“ using the finger he just poked Shadow with to poke his own chest,” I can do better.”. Sonic finally finished, content with his reasoning.

Shadow frowned slightly as he thought of an explanation that is simple enough for Sonic. “First of all, my skills are far superior then anything you can do.”. Shadow paused so he could uncross his arms, then poke Sonic in his chest before continuing, “Secondly, I was created to be able to manipulate chaos energy to the extent I can. While your body cannot handle the stress it will put you through. It will tear you apart.” Shadow finished, but seeing the look on Sonic’s face, knew he was not about to drop it.

Sonic, not liking being told he can’t do something, responds, “So what? I wasn’t made in a lab. I don’t get why you think I can’t do this when I did it before.” Using more bite than he intended too, Sonic internally winced at his comment about a lab.

Shadows left fist clenched by his side, while the other came up and poked sonic again with way more force. Which caused Sonic to take a small step back. “ Just drop it. You have no idea about what you are talking about.”

Sonic felt irritation flare up as he went to poke Shadow, again. “Well, why don’t you tell me then.” But before Sonic’s finger could find its mark, Shadow grabbed it and twisted it. “Ow! Ow! Ow! Stop it! Sonic whined, as Shadow moved his hand down, forcing Sonic to go down with it.

“Only if you promise not to try and chaos control.” Shadow said bluntly, a small, barely noticeable smirk on his muzzle, as he heard Sonic’s whines.

“No way dude, you can’t maaa- okay, okay, okay!” Sonic finally conceded, as the twisting became too uncomfortable. Shadow held on for another 3 seconds before finally releasing his hold. Sonic glared up at him, while shaking his hand. “You know what, screw your chaos control, I like running better.” Sonic said, as he turned away from Shadow, pointedly not looking at him.

“Whatever. Next time you have an idiotic question, bother someone else.” Shadow gave one last look at Sonic, before disappearing in a flash of light. Which left Sonic alone, he sighed as he decided what to do next. Sonic decided to think of a solution on the go, as his leg muscles tensed, and he shot out. Leaving behind a trail of blue as he zoomed through the forest, eventually stopping at the park. Which leads to his current situation.

Sonic snapped back to reality. Standing up from the bench. He looked around at the thinning crowd. His lips in a tight line. “I can do it.” He turned to his left, eyes narrowing as he spotted a spider on the grass. “Shadow is just jealous that he isn’t as cool as me.” A pause, then Sonic continues, “What am I doing.” The spider crawled along the grass, leaving the tiniest indents on nature’s carpet. Sonic turned away, and took a walking pace, but no matter how much he tried to think of anything else, the thought of chaos control kept coming back. His ears flicked once, twice, “That’s it!” Sonic exclaimed, no one tells him what he can and can’t do. Sonic does not heed Shadows warnings, as he plans to chaos control.

He already knows the perfect spot to teleport to. If Shadow wanted to be such a downer, then he’ll just teleport to his living room. Sonic’s remnants of irritation faded away as he imagined the surprise on Shadow’s face. Sonic smiled as he bent his knees and got into an athletic stance. Can never be too careful Sonic thought as he knew that what he planned would surely startle Shadow, and he did not want to be clobbered, so he needs to be ready to dodge. “Well. Here goes nothing” Sonic closed his eyes as he tried to think of the same feeling he felt when falling from the ark. He instantly noticed how much more difficult it felt and had a flicker of doubt. But it was quickly washed away, he didn’t stop for anything. Breathe in, “Chaos control.” And in a flash, he was gone.

Sonic could not articulate what he felt into words. His body seemingly felt like it was being pulled in all directions, while simultaneously being compressed. But more than anything, he felt how the energy around him began to feel strange, and different, yet not exactly unfamiliar.  His final conscious thought being that maybe he should have listened to Shadow. As darkness overtook him, he stopped feeling.

Sonic awoke, not with a startle but a low groan. He is distinctly aware that he is laying on a hard, cold, and uncomfortable floor. Somewhere in his mind he thinks it’s a little rude of Shadow to not at least put him on a couch. Sure, he technically broke into his house, but Shadow at least could be little more hospitable. Sonic tries to sit up but is hit with a sudden case of exhaustion. Feeling too tired to even open his eyes, much less move his limbs. Sonic laid there, on his stomach, for what felt like an eternity, but in reality, it couldn’t have been longer than 5 minutes. He really wants to roll over since the hard floor is pressing into his stomach. However, he finds that he can barely move his arms and legs, so he starts small. He wriggles his fingers first, feeling movement, he moves on to his toes.

Now he feels silly, just lying there and wiggling his fingers and toes. With much effort he opens his eyes. He can’t see much since his face is pressed into the floor, but he does see a blurry image of the floor, and it’s definitely not hardwood. Sonic feels a slight twinge of panic but it gets overtaken by sleepiness. “ Shasow.. Shads. Not funny.” Sonic mumbled out, his voice muffled and distorted by the floor and his exhaustion. He soon succumbs to his exhaustion and dozes off.

“Beep-beep whirl!” The sound of whistles and beeps woke Sonic up, again, as he sleepily lifted his face, his peach and blue colored fur all matted and unkempt. He opened his mouth, his chompers on full display as he let out a loud yawn. Once his mouth closed, he rolled over into a sitting position, eyes finally opening. The first thing he noticed was that everything around him was metal and he appeared to be in some closet?  That won’t do. “Boooop- weep!”. Sonics ears flattened against his head as a high-pitched beep invaded his senses. He turned his head to the source of the sound and paused. There was a little black robot. Rolling back and forth as it chirpped at the organic lifeform. For Sonic the pieces were all falling together. A metal closet, no reciliation as to how he got here instead of Shadow’s place, and lastly a robot. He was definitely dealing with Eggman, which is fine by him. In a blink of an eye, Sonic stood up and kicked the robot, sending it flying into the wall, and breaking into pieces.

“Someone’s not on their A game.” Sonic quipped to himself as he looked down at the broken machine. “Not my problem.” Sonic told no one in particular, as he looked around the room. He spotted a door and made his way over; he didn’t see a handle but as he got closer it opened automatically. With a shrug he walked through and into a hallway. Sonic wasn’t too sure as to where he was, it certainly didn’t look like any of Robotnik’s previous bases. He put his hands on his hips and looked up as he announced, “Aright Eggman, rest time is over. Bring it on!”. But he was met with silence, “Uhmm.” Sonic moved his left hand from his hip to his head and scratched the top of it. “Anyone there?” Sonic, not one to wait around was just about to pick a direction and go. When he heard a soft mechanical whine, and around the corner came another one of those little black robots.

“Beep-whirll!”

That’s something, Sonic thought as he prepared to dodge whatever attack it could conjure, as it rolled to him, its little wheels moving it along. Much to Sonic’s surprise? Disappointment? It just rolled on by, ignoring him. “Hey! Come back here!”, Sonic shouted at the little robot. It just kept on moving. Sonic frowned as he shot forward, going from still to holding the little robot, almost instantly. He titled his head when he examined it, his quills jostled slightly.

“Beep! Whirl!!!”. The machine continued to let out loud frequency sounds, causing Sonic to grimace. He turned it around at all angles, careful not to catch his fingers on the rotating wheels, as the robot fought for freedom.

“Hah! Is this the best you got? Come on Eggman, don’t leave a hog waiting.”. But the only sound was the small motor of the robot. Beginning to get annoyed, well, more so than he already was, Sonic threw the chittering bot into the wall. Its shell cracked at impact, sparks flew out, as it fell to the floor. Its wheels turned one last time before its light flickered off. Something didn’t set right with Sonic as he wandered down the hall. Eggman is a megalomaniac, yet there weren’t any logos, signs, or even an announcement about how he is about to be obliterated by the mad doctor. Very strange. “Enough games, what’s going on!” Sonic once again asked, but when there was only silence, the unease in Sonic grew.

“Fine! Be like that.”. As he walked, he noticed a door up ahead. Curiosity peaked; Sonic walked towards it. He didn’t see a handle, but he assumed it was like the other one that opened on its own. And he was proven right as the door opened with a swoosh, and even before he walked in, he noticed some different robots. His brow furrowed as he stared at the different ones, completely different then Eggman’s usual creation. A robot about the height of him rolled on by with its three wheels. Sonic didn’t even see a weapon. “ Uhmm… Are y’all goanna attack me or..?” Sonic trailed off, as the robots kept doing what they were doing, his foot tapped against the floor, his impatience growing.

With a shrug, Sonic shouted, “Take this!”. He curled up into a ball and revved up. He shot forward like a bullet, his quills shredding through an unsuspecting robot like a scythe to wheat. As he cut through it, he uncurled and landed, sliding just the tiniest bit, as he found a new target. It was another one of those weird three wheeled machines. “I’m still waiting for a challenge.” Sonic once again yelled to no one. He shot forward again, this time he jumped and while he was still in the air, he twisted his lower body. And he unleashed a devastating kick to the machine, metal crumpling and sparks flying at the point of impact. The machine let out a desperate whirl, as it toppled over.

Sonic wasn’t done, as right after the kick he curled back into a ball, and rammed right into a weird human looking machine, sending scrap everywhere. He then uncurled and landed on his feet, with a smile on his muzzle. At least these robots are more fun to smash than the previous ones. The other robots are just now noticing what is happening and are beginning to act accordingly.

“Whirl-wooo-beep!”

“Bweep-ahhh!”

Sonic eyes swept among the panicking robots. Wincing at the loud beeps and screeches they made. He locked onto another of the weird three-legged ones, and he let the background fade away, as he accelerated just under the speed of sound. And like before he curled up and rammed into it and sent it flying. Its metal body crumpled like an empty can. He hit the ground still curled up, then bounced up and straightened out, as he internally debated what to do next. Well, it’s not even a challenge. What game is Eggman playing at? Sonic thought to himself; he was too distracted by the loud pitches and whirls that he didn’t hear the swoosh of the door opening behind him. “Come one, talk to me Eggman.” Sonic once again said, still unaware of the door opening behind him. “I’m being series.” Sonic already locked onto another target, and with a spin dash, he obliterated it.

“Uhhh. What in the..?”

Sonics ears turned to the confused voice, as his eyes widened slightly. He then turned around so fast it looked like he paused time to do so. Green eyes then meet a Person? Whatever it was it was in a suit, its face hidden behind a helmet. Sonic didn’t really know what it was, but if it’s from Eggman then it can’t be good. So, he decided to take care of it, whatever it is.
