“You- you guys have nicknames for each other?!”
“Awh.. that’s so cute though,” Yaya smiled. Gopal looked like as if had seen a ghost. “callin’ the cute one ‘angel’, hmmm?” Ying teased. “What of it?” Fang glanced over. “It’s just..” Gopal shivered as he looked over at Fang then at Boboiboy.
Fang roll his eyes. “You’re hopeless.” “Oh please,” Ying crossed her arms. “Angel, really?” “It’s better than what you call Yaya,” Fang looked away. “Wha- WOW.” Ying was beyond offended.
“What are they on about now?” Ochobot asked. “Ahaha.. um…” Boboiboy looked away as he lightly scratched his cheek with his finger.
“Hays.. why do we have another mission..? I thought the previous one was our last?” Boboiboy sighed as he and Fang walked through the thick forest. “Then again.. this gives me the change to use my new fusions..” he mumbled. “Mn, but be careful, your watch might over energize like last time,” Fang said as he looked over. “It’s still not clear on how that happened.. even dad doesn’t know,” “Don’t worry too much,” “Mn..”
As night fell, the two continued to venture through the sea of trees. Fang looked over his watch, checking the holographic map— yellow dot in front of a purple one.
“Still far..” “How far?” Boboiboy Solar asked, glancing behind him. His eyes unseen from the reflection on his orange visor.
“3.5 kilometers at most..” “Hays..” Solar sighed. “Maybe we can talk?” Thorn suddenly popped out. “Why are you suddenly out?” The raven haired looked over at elemental in green. “Got bored in the watch.. plus no one else wanted to join Solar,” Thorn smiled innocently. “Yeah right,” Solar rolled his eyes.
Fang couldn’t help but sigh as the two began bickering. “Not even a kilometer close,” a third elemental hummed.
“Halilintar?” Fang was surprised to see him out. “Got sent out,” he shrugged. Solar clicked his tongue. “What we need right now is light, no one else,” Solar commented as the light orb above them flickered. “I can make my own light,” Halilintar said as he summoned his lightning sword, its red hue lit up his side of the trail. “Anyway.. preserve your energy, we don’t want another marching band incident,” Fang sighed. “In my defense, Solar was being stupid and fed the plantasaurus rex with light,” Thorn huffed.
“Whatever.” Solar rolled his eyes.
“Logic, logic, can’t even plan properly,” Thorn lightly clicked his tongue. “That was so long ago.” Solar grumbled. “And still it affects you,” Thorn hummed, enjoying how he managed to annoy Solar.
”You-“ “Sol,” Halilintar glanced at him. “Tsk.” Solar looked away. “Hehe~” Thorn had his tongue out at the side of his mouth. He sure knew how to get under Solar’s skin.
Once a few more petty banter here and there, Thorn switched out with Gempa. Thank the stars. Damn knows what would happen if Thorn stayed longer.
The rest of the way was quiet. Only the muffed sound of their walking was heard together with the quiet humming of Halilintar’s sword.
“We’re near..” Fang spoke, Halilintar nodded lightly and moved to the back of the group.
“We’re here,” Fang paused, making the three elements stop in their tracks. Solar and Halilintar merged back with Gempa, retuning as Boboiboy again.
“Tsk.. we got mislead..” The raven haired looked back down at his watch. “Nearly no light passes by too,” Boboiboy’s eyes wandered around. “Let’s camp for the night,” Fang said, the other nodded.
Laying down on the sleeping bag, Boboiboy looked up at the lace opening of the tent.
“How long have we been doing this?” He broke the silence with his quiet question. “Which?” Fang sighed as he finally got to lay down. “Saving and stuff..” “Saving Earth 7, galaxy, 5, everything else..? probably 4 or so,” Fang answered. Detailed as always.
Silence...
Fang sighed before glancing over at the other. It had been a year or so since Boboiboy stopped wearing his hat, to be honest, it was weird. He always had that orange dino cap on him, it changed color and position depending on the element and fusion.
“What’s with the sudden question?” He asked.
“Just..”
“Wondering..”
Fang looked up at the laced opening of the tent. Bright two moons, one was slightly bigger than the other. “Weird, huh..?” “The moons?”
“Us,”
Fang paused. “What do you mean?” He glanced over. “We started as rivals, and now..” Boboiboy turned to face the other, his brown eyes meeting Fang’s red ones. “Ah..” the latter felt relieved... “Mn.. crazy..” he hummed quietly.
“Hey..” “yeah..?”
“Do I ever.. make you regret things..?”
Fang froze. He felt his heart drop to his stomach.
”What do you-“ “I mean.. I’ve nearly died so many times, then..”
“There’s seven versions of me, and then six more..” the brown haired sighed. “I just..”
Just then he felt a hand on his cheek. “Fang..” “You’re so stupid..” “Huh-“
“The only thing I regret is not being able to protect you... every version of you.” The raven haired spoke as he gently caressed the other’s cheek.
“We’re still young and we're still fining things out. We also grow with each other. So.. quit the doubts, alright..?” After a short silence, the other gently reached onto his hand and nodded softly. “Sorry..” “Don't apologize, angel.. alright..?” Just as the two leaned in...
“YAH NO KISSING!!” They froze.
The two looked at their watches and— right... The intercom. “What the- we were both..!” Fang sat up. “Hehe~ thanks to the new system we can mute and unmute anyone,” Gopal hummed pridefully. “Haya, Gopal.. they were having a moment.” Ying’s voice was heard. “Oh please, as if they will,” Gopal crossed. Fang’s eye twitched. “You two-“ He looked like he was about to strangle the two. Boboiboy chuckled at the scene as he turned off his own watch.
He sat up before leaning close to Fang. “Give us some alone time, yeah?” Boboiboy hummed lightly before turning off the intercom from Fang’s watch. “Tsk.. those two..” the raven haired's eyebrow twitched. The other chuckled before gently wrapping his arms around Fang’s right arm. “Nevermind them..” the sudden physical affection made Fang soft. He sighed before laying back down, their sleeping bags closer than earlier.
“I swear.. why did Yaya even agree to become Ying’s girlfriend,” Fang grumbled, Boboiboy chuckled. “Says the one who was annoyed when they wouldn’t confess to each other,” the latter hummed, Fang sighed again. “Something wrong..?” Boboiboy looked at him. “It’s just..” Fang held the other’s hand, gently squeezing it.
“Just know I care for you, alright..?”
“Fang..”
“I care for you as you, you as your elements, you as your elemental fusions, you as your flaws and all that..”
He paused.
“I care a lot, Boboiboy..” Boboiboy’s heart skipped a beat. Fang had never been the word of affirmation type but more of gift giving— as observed by Boboiboy and the rest of Kokotaim.
“Pfft.. baby..” “Yah.. stop.. I’m being serious..” Fang looked at him. “I know.. and..”
“I cherish everything you say..” Boboiboy smiled softly. ”Truly, I do...”
“Hays.."
"You’re fucking adorable, angel..” Fang lightly kissed the other’s forehead. “My boyfriend just kissed me on my forehead..” Boboiboy mumbled teasingly. “Will you sing me a lullaby too, like before?” He added.
“You..” Fang’s hand went over to pinch his boyfriend’s cheek, making Boboiboy chuckle. He reached for the raven haired’a hand and held it close. “What? I’m just being grateful..” “Mn.. sounds like sarcasm,”
“But I am..”
“Hays.. come here, angel..” Fang pulled Boboiboy closer before gently kissing his cheek. “Sleep now..” “Mn.. good night..”
“Ah.. so that’s why..” Ochobot glanced at Boboiboy and then at Fang. “Haha.. yeah..”
“Couple are so cringe, you all should die.” Gopal looked at them with a deadpan face. “And you wonder why you’re single.” Fang rolled his eyes.
