It was really just like any other day for them since they stopped the end of the universe. Still, Wade couldn’t help but notice Logan’s strange behavior, and he has been trying to cut him some slack since they are still getting used to the new living situation, and them sharing an old foldout couch has felt like it’s put a strain on their relationship. Not in the way he had originally thought, it’s really that they just spend almost no time apart.
Logan walks around the house in Wade’s clothing still which he finds strange since they had just gone out to get him some ‘publicly acceptable’ clothing, as Logan likes to say. But as soon as they are behind closed doors Wade catches Logan in nothing but a stretched out hello kitty shirt and some boxers, which Wade finds endearing initially, yet still impractical due to him finding his shirts stretched out and somewhat unwearable for him for the future. Logan swears to him that his clothes are more ‘comfortable’ and while he doesn’t want to stress him out more during this transition period, it’s weighing on him.
“Hey Wolvie, I was hoping to have a little discussion about the clothing thing”
Logan looks back at him still in his shirt, as if this is entirely normal, “What about it?” He says, confused.
“Yeah, as much as I love seeing you in my clothing, like truly a dream come true. You are kind of destroying them a little bit.” Wade says as he looks back at the pile of unwearable clothing. “I wasn’t going to say anything, but it’s really getting out of hand.”
“Man, I didn’t even notice, I’ve just been so distracted with my preheat that I didn’t even notice how much I was taking.” Logan says bashfully. He also takes a moment to look at the pile, embarrassment flaring in his cheeks.
“Sorry, your what now?” Wade is genuinely confused, it was September in Hoboken, so it wasn’t going to be getting any warmer going into fall.
Logan’s brow furrows in confusion “What are you talking about, I’m going into heat next week, I’ve had this written on the calendar since I got here.” He points back to the calendar in the kitchen. And there it is in bright red ‘HEAT START’ Wade really needs to look at that more often.
“Oh my god, so you’re really like a wolf, Wolvie!”
“Well technically a wolverine is a real animal, but yes that is basically what is happening to me.”
“That still doesn't explain why you’re wearing my clothing.”
“It’s comforting, the compression is helping with the symptoms, and so does the familiar scent.” Logan looks down at the shirt he’s wearing, it does look a bit ridiculous with the hello kitty motif stretched across his pectorals.
“Well you could’ve just asked! I’m always available for some cuddles.” Wade opens his arms expectantly. Logan just stares at him.
“At least with the shirts I don’t have to deal with the mouth attached to the scent.”
“You wound me, but luckily I can heal myself, so what do you say?” Wade strides over to Logan's position on the couch, plopping down next to him and leaning his head on his shoulder.
“I guess I could make an exception just this once.” Logan moves into Wade's embrace, really taking in his scent.

This isn’t the only time Wade notices Logan’s strange behavior, at least the next time he’s able to make the connection to his preheat. He’s been doing a lot of research on what he can do for Logan to make him more comfortable, and oh boy is there a lot he needs to learn.
Something that was often listed was how ideally the animals would have a nest (Like a bird?). This was about as close as he could get to finding things in his universe that would make him happier (unless there was secretly more to his world that being led on), but he tries not to think about that and focuses on getting Logan more nesting materials.
He wants this to be a surprise for him, but Logan and him rarely spend any time apart, so he has to sneak out right after lights out, luckily Althea sleeps with noise-canceling headphones, so all he really needs to worry about is waking up Logan.
With years of mercenary training under his belt, he exits the building undetected and heads to the nearest store that’s still open at this time of night. He’s created a list of things he has seen that can help online, so pillows, blankets, and various soft items are what he’s hunting for. There were also some places that would emphasize the importance of the scent of the items, so he had planned on digging into that pile of unwearable shirts as soon as he got back.
He has finally walked up to the building and entered, honestly somewhat overwhelmed by the amount of aisles, but he perseveres for the sake of his Wolvie. Once he made it to the appropriate aisle he was noticing the sheer volume of different pillows and blankets. What kind would Logan even like? It would probably be best if he had just grabbed a few different ones, and returned the ones he didn’t end up wanting. He just started grabbing different ones, with varying textures and colors in hopes that at least one of these items would be up to Logan’s standard.
He walks up to the self-checkout.
“Any troubles finding anything sir.” The attendant says cheerily as if it isn’t eleven at night on a Tuesday. They seem a bit surprised at what he has picked out.
“No, not today.” Wade smiles, he looks at the mountain of blankets he’s picked out and leaves the store with several bags looking very proud of himself.

When he gets back to the apartment, he sees a dim light coming from the living room. And there’s Logan sitting up watching television, still clad in one of Wade’s shirts, this time with a Garfield printed on the front. Another one bites the dust.
“Wade, where have you been! And what's all that stuff you have with you?” Logan says sternly.
“Well, I was reading up on your preheat, and I saw you might need some nest stuff so I went out and got you a few things.” Wade says sheepishly. Still holding a monumental amount of blankets around him.
Logan gives him a perplexed stare, not only because of the amount of stuff in the apartment right now, but also confused as to why Wade would go through this much trouble for him. It’s not like he’s an alpha that eventually plans to use him to get his rocks off like in his old universe. It’s really just because Wade wanted to see him happier.
“Wade you idiot, I don’t need this much stuff for my nesting.” Logan’s eyes soften. “But the fact that you went through so much trouble for me makes me so happy.” He smiles. Wade smiles back at him and Logan pulls him into an embrace, nuzzling his nose into Wade’s neck and inhaling his scent. Wade isn’t an actual alpha so it’s not very intense, but it's perfect for him.
“This is great and all, but do I really need to go back and return all this stuff right now.” Wade brings his head up and looks at Logan.
“Maybe not right this second, but for right now why don’t you just lay with me on the bed.” Logan invites him in next to him, the television playing some old western movie.
Wade jumps at the opportunity to be with Logan, and as he starts to get comfortable, he notices a familiar white cat looking at him where he was about to lay his head.
Logan looks to see what’s stopping him and smiles, “What can I say, it reminds me of you.”
