Chapter Text
“Keep an eye on him, I need to check something.” Kinich said as he started to walk away.
“H-hey! You dare leave me here to babysit this Abyss scum?! What do you think I am?! I’m not a babysitter and you don’t get to give me orders!” Ajaw shouted.
Kinich ignored the pixelated dragon’s retorts and walked away.
“Are you listening to me?! I swear I’ll kill you and get your body! It will belong to me, the Almighty Dragonlord K'uhul Ajaw!”
Ajaw let out an angry shout as the dendro wielder vanished from sight.
“You are such an interesting pair.” Sanka mused as he remained seated where he was in the cave. “I want to learn so much about you two.”
“You are not learning CRAP! Abyss scum!” Ajaw shouted, waving his arms about.
“Oh? But what’s the harm?” Sanka asked, “I’m currently your prisoner, and it’s not like I desire to harm Natlan or it’s inhabitants, I simply want to learn about you two, about Mister Kinich, and you, Almighty Dragonlord.”
“Hmm…. depending on the questions, I’ll allow it.” Ajaw huffed as he remained glaring at the abyss lector in disguise.
“Wonderful!” Sanka mused, “Then my first question, I heard a lot about you, and the most interesting part is just what you spoke of earlier.”
“Eh?” Ajaw deadpanned.
“I heard you two have quite the rocky partnership, and that you declare you’ll kill Kinich, constantly. Yet I heard and saw you aid him quite a few times, even with capturing me.” Sanka said, “I want to know why you help him, if you just want to kill him and take his body.”
“And why, in the name of the seven archons of teyvat, would I tell you that?” Ajaw asked.
“Because, if you help me, I can eliminate Kinich for you.” Sanka said, “Well, more or less steal his soul away and his body can be yours for the taking.”
“Ha! Once Kinich hears about this, maybe he won’t be such a coward and erase you from existence!” Ajaw snapped, “Having the gall to tell me you’ll kill my servant! Such disrespect!”
“I do not mean you any disrespect, Almighty Dragonlord.” Sanka said, “But why do you reject it? Don’t you want his body?”
“You Abyss scoundrels are all so stupid and primitive.” Ajaw scowled, “Kinich and I have a contract, and I, the Almighty Dragonlord K'uhul Ajaw, keep my promises.”
“In what kind of contract does one party have to help the one they’re trying to eliminate?” Sanka asked, ‘It doesn’t make sense.”
“Pffft, why would anything makes sense to monsters like yourself?” Ajaw asked, “I doubt you’d understand what I’m saying here, so I’ll break it down. Our contract states that as long as I help Kinich and he serves me to the letter, then I will get his body when he dies. That’s it.”
“But he obviously doesn’t listen to your orders,” Sanka said, “He’s not fulfilling his end of the bargain, which means you are more than within your right to not abide by yours.”
“You! Always such stupid and hideous answers! Nothing less from Abyss Order Scum!” Ajaw shouted in anger. “Kinich is my humble servant, he is through and through despite how he acts, and I will NOT tolerate you trying to put things in my mouth and act like you know more than I do about my own servant! Until the day he dies from a challenge he cannot overcome even with my generous aid, then I shall claim his body for myself! He is but a human, he cannot keep beating my challenges forever.”
Sanka sighed, “Such a curious pair, so so curious . I haven’t been so curious about a pair in a very long time. Perhaps I don’t understand your relationship with Mister Kinich.”
“Yeah, know your place!” Ajaw hissed.
“But I can learn more.” Sanka said, “And figure out exactly what this contract details of you two.”
“Are you threatening me?! Me?! The Almighty Dragonlord K'uhul Ajaw?!” Ajaw demanded.
“No no no, I would never dream of threatening a great dragonlord.” Sanka mused before smiling darkly at the dragon. “My only question, since you two are not tethered at the hip, and that Mister Kinich is very much a loner of his own. How would the threat go if it was him under threat?”
“You… You dare look down on my servant like that?!” Ajaw shouted before laughing, “You Abyss dredges are even dumber than I thought! As if Kinich, a worthy servant of the Almighty Dragonlord, would fall to you and your little pests of pals. That’s not only an insult to Kinich, but an insult to me as well!”
“My apologies, but I do mean it.” Sanka said, “Perhaps the chance to claim his body will come sooner than you think.”
“You-!”
“I’m back, making such a ruckus while I was away?”
Ajaw and Sanka turned to see Kinich come back, his clothes slightly tossled and a few bandages on his arms and cheek.
“And what caused you to be in such a sorry state?” Ajaw asked, shifting his focus away from the abyss lector completely.
“Just clearing out obstacles.” Kinich sighed, “Your little friends have been dealt with, don’t think any of your buddies will be coming to help you.”
Sanka laughed, “Oh? You defeated them so swiftly, color me impressed. I was right to look into you, Mister Kinich. Such an interesting vision wielder.”
Kinich let out a small huff, “Let’s go, I have more questions and I doubt this is a safe place to further interrogate you.”
“Aren’t you curious about what we were talking about, Kinich?” Ajaw asked, flying in front of him.
“If it doesn’t concern me, I don’t really care.” Kinich said, closing his eyes for a moment, “I just want to know if he’s related to all the incidents regarding our tribe recently.”
“I’ll be happy to answer your questions, as long as you answer mine.” Sanka said.
“I already said it’ll cost you if you want information from me.” Kinich said, crossing his arms. “Unlike me, you don’t have any type of leverage at this moment.”
“Perhaps not, but I might one day.” Sanka said, “I am oh so very curious about you, Mister Kinich. I am willing to pay any price to learn about you.”
Kinich let out a small scoff before turning away, Ajaw glared at the Abyss Lector still but remained silent.
Sanka couldn’t help but smile to himself, what an interesting pair, he is curious to learn more about them, and what this could mean for his research.
