A Witch of the Absolute Solver

Summary:

Uzi's life hasn't been the greatest. Losing her only friend, her mother, was a huge blow. Khan decided it would be best to move, get away from the home that was filled with distant memories and have a fresh start for Uzi's final year of High School. However, Uzi wasn't optimistic, the desire for friends was there, but she would have preferred to keep a low profile. Though, life had other plans for her- when Uzi meets someone who desperately needs help with math on her first day, it leads to Uzi being dragged into a fight with a demon from the depths of hell, hunting Uzi Doorman herself.

Chapter Text

A low rumble echoed against the silent nature. Virgin floral laid at rest until large, deformed appendages started to sink its deep claws into the Earth, doing everything it can to find a balance within its grotesque form. Everything about this being was disgusting, its flesh looked as if it was permanently melting off, its eyes were glowing yellow, and the abnormal amount of appendages sprouting from places a creature from this dimension shouldn’t have is haunting. Each of the arms had some sort of sharp end, the bones of the creature having been shaped to become objects of destruction. It bellowed, using all its strength to climb, to walk, to pull itself forward. It desperately needed a host. It didn’t have much energy left and it was exerting all of it just to exist. It needed flesh. It needed bones. It needed blood.

A young girl, around the age 13, head covered in a fluffy mess of platinum blonde hair tiptoed quietly. She didn’t want anyone knowing that she was outside, wanting to quickly pick some flowers for her sick mother to help her feel better. Her thought process was her mother could scold her after she had gotten the flowers. Though, her mom couldn’t be that upset when her only daughter was holding a bouquet of flowers she valiantly journeyed through the nature out behind their house.

A beautiful patch of wild lilies came into view, her smile widening as she quickly made haste to pick a few different colors. Before she could even pick her 6th flower, a growl emitted from the darkness behind her. She froze, believing that it was possible a wild animal had traveled all the way to civilization by accident. However, the noises it made weren’t something that was normal for any animal she knew of. The smell hit her first before anything, it felt like it was burning her nostrils. Her small hands covered her nose, falling forward onto the ground in a hunched position to try and relieve the pain. Her eyes welled with tears, streaming down her cheeks as she tried desperately to compose herself to run, but it was futile as the searing heat was overwhelming her olfactory system.

Fear overwhelmed her muscles, the creature made crying sounds that sounded disturbingly similar to a baby that was calling for their mother. It wailed louder and louder as the sounds of bones cracking and muscles tearing got closer and closer. The girl was hyperventilating now, the feeling of her own flesh melting pulsating through her senses as she tried desperately to try and crawl away. However, her muscles were too weak, years of cancer treatment having taken a massive toll on weak frame.

“M…ommy….brother….-”

Her voice was like a quiet cry of the night. No one was around to hear her plea for help as she was consumed by the flames of hell. The creature’s appendages ripped out its own core, hovering above its victim as it shoved the amalgamation of flesh and tissue into her body's mouth. It melted, falling to the ground with a loud thud. Silence came. Not even the birds or insects made a sound.

The little girl's body twitched, her golden eyes opening wide as her body struggled to get onto her own two feet. An eerily, inhuman smile was plastered on her face. Her ankle turned sharply, the snap of the bone echoing as her eyes fell to her broken limb. The smile didn’t falter, she lifted her leg into the air, examining the dangling foot that had been snapped from the host. In an instance, it made a loud crunch, snapping back into place, as if it never broke in the first place. With a manalical giggle, she put her leg back down and started walking, more like stumbling, towards the direction of her home. The creature was using its host's memories to find its new shelter.

The small bouquet of lilies were left behind in its wake, the manalical giggles slowly fading away into the distance as the remnants of the creature's old body fizzled into the ground, leaving patches of scorched earth behind as evidence of its previous host.

A loud, recurring beep echoing in the messy room. A groan exited from our protagonist's throat as she slammed a tired fist onto the annoying machine. Uzi stretched her stiff limbs, wincing a bit from her crying muscles after moving heavy boxes for the last 48 hours. Khan, her father, decided it was time to move. Uzi wasn’t fully against it though, the house that used to be her own oasis from life became something unbearable. School was hell, home life was horrible, nowhere was safe ever since her mother passed away. Violet eyes wandered to the framed photo sitting on the end table next to Uzi’s bed, she gently grabbed the frame.

It was an old photo of mother, father, and Uzi. It was back when she was 11, visiting Japan for the very first time and actually having the opportunity to learn more about her culture. Back then her hair was longer, a thick mane of black hair. Her hair was put up, various traditional pins decorating her hair. The traditional kimono was a lavender color with a beautiful flower design decorating the base and going upward in a pattern. Uzi remembers the memory fondly, wishing her mother was still around. Nori had promised after Uzi graduated high school, they would take a trip together to Japan for the entirety of summer before Uzi went off to college.

That unfortunately will never come now.

She put the frame back down, pushing herself off her bed. Uzi’s room was a mess, it was put together haphazardly with untouched boxes littering every corner of the room. The father and daughter barely moved into their new apartment 2 days ago and she was already heading off to school. Transferring from Insert School name here high to Copper Academy, was going to be a drastic change. First, Uzi was going from a public institution to a private one. Khan’s security business really skyrocketed in the last decade, leading the Doorman family to have more money than any of them ever had in their lives.

Nori was estranged from her family in Japan, she had escaped a cult and fled to the United States when she turned 18, meeting Khan not long after, who was also estranged from his own family. Uzi’s never known any other family than her mom and dad, but she’s never cared to really know about anyone else. Uzi was content with just her parents, now she can barely stand the one she’s left with. Ever since Nori passed away a year ago, Khan and Uzi have barely interacted. He’s put himself so deep into his work, that his security doors are basically his children, treating his biological daughter like she’s the weird step-kid.

Stumbling into the bathroom that was connected to her room, Uzi stared at herself in the mirror for a bit. In recent months, her skin has become a bit paler from her lack of sun exposure, but it was still a fair color. Her dyed purple hair was recently touched up, but the teen was too lazy to bleach her roots so they’ve grown back. Uzi kind of liked the way it looked, black roots to purple ends looked cool, at least in her opinion. She had a few piercings on her face, an eyebrow piercing on her left eyebrow, a septum, and then finally snake bites. Khan was never a fan of Uzi altering her appearance, but Nori was always supportive of allowing her daughter to do whatever she wanted with her body.

Thinking about her mom wasn’t helping Uzi’s mood at all, but she couldn’t help it when her mother was involved in everything. A huff of air exited the girl's nostrils in frustration, turning away from the mirror and stripping the clothes off of her body to take a quick shower. She quickly put her hair up, having no motivation to wash it, or dealing with the fact that it takes five hours to dry fully. The shower was quick but satisfying. The warm water against her aching body felt cathartic. Stepping out of the shower, she wrapped her body with a towel and headed back into her room that could only be described as chaos.

Unlike Copper Academy, Uzi’s previous school didn’t have a strict dress code, it was kind of like the Hunger Games but an educational institution and no bloodshed. It was run down, the bathrooms barely worked unless you jiggled with the flush operation for 5 minutes, and the teachers only taught there because they were the worst society had to offer for their respective career fields. It was honestly impressive how much they sucked at teaching. However, with the ability to afford the tuition and the pity of having to withstand such a terrible curriculum, Uzi was accepted as a transfer student and now has to wear the most expensive outfit she’s ever own; a school uniform.

The material was soft and stretchy, made to be breathable and to be worn multiple times. However, Uzi had a dislike for the way it fit on her. The uniform consists of a blue blazer that’s form fitting, but it didn’t look very flattering on her due to not having time to have it tailored to her proportions. It was clearly made for body types that are European, however Uzi is on the petite and short side. Standing at a whopping 4’11, a size small was still big on her. Uzi was never a fan of how big things always look on her, wishing she was taller or was able to actually gain weight. No matter how much she ate it was always a struggle, but no matter, letting herself get engulfed in those thoughts would only get her into a foul mood and she would like to actually make friends.

Shuffling the blue blazer off, Uzi readjusting the white button up that came with the uniform, it also being on the bigger side and looking a little off. She grumbled, grabbing the skirt and putting it on. What was nice about the uniform was that it was customizable based on gender and preference, Uzi was able to ask for a longer skirt and they delivered. It was high waisted and went down below her knees. She tucked the white shirt into the skirt, continuing to stare at herself in the full body mirror.

Uzi really hated this uniform, but didn’t have much of a choice. She was feeling frustrated, huffing out an irritated sigh and stomping over to her desk chair, she begrudgingly grabbed her favorite jacket and put it on. The jacket belonged to her mother, one of the only items she brought with her when Nori originally immigrated to the United States. Nori gave it to her daughter when she was 14 and wore it everywhere, it always helped Uzi feel more grounded, more comfortable, especially in public. Uzi couldn’t give any fucks if wearing something that wasn’t the uniform, if they try and give her shit about it then they can just suck her di-

“Uzuki!’

Khan’s voice has always been loud, snapping Uzi out of her stance and groaning, “What!”

“Breakfast is ready, get out here and eat before school!”

Uzi raised an eyebrow towards her closed door, wondering what universe she was living in for her father to not only be home by cooking food. Normally it was Uzi fending for herself, either going to the grocery store herself to get ingredients or living off of the leftovers she would get from volunteering.

“Okay..” Uzi mumbled, mainly to herself. Her voice wasn’t loud enough to be a reply back to her dad, continuing to take her time getting ready since she was currently apprehensive to trust her father's abilities in the kitchen. Nori was the one who did all the cooking, Khan doesn’t have a single talent for the culinary arts.

Uzi finished getting ready about ten minutes later. Along with the uniform and her iconic zip up, she wore a black and gray beanie to conceal her unruly hair, wore black steel toed boots that she got for her 16th birthday from her mother, tucked into the boots were a pair of leg warmers that were a stripped pattern of two different shades of purple, and finally wore some light makeup to accentuate the alternative look she was going for. The only downside to her look is that Uzi loves to wear the zip up, well, zipped up. However to combat against the possibility of getting in trouble, she decided to wear it unzipped. It made the graphic logo of a battery and crossbones look a little off, but it can’t be helped.

Heading down the stairs, her olfactory senses immediately succumbed to despair as the scent of something burning was swiveling in the air. Rounding the corner from the stairs to kitchen, Uzi found her father scrambling to try and salvage whatever amalgamation he tried to conjure up. Whatever it was, it is unrecognizable now, Uzi was honestly a little impressed with how badly Khan messed up.

He gave her a sheepish grin, “Well..I tried making bacon and eggs..”

“Dad…I’ve been vegetarian for the last 2 years.” Her voice was monotonous, giving her father a dead look as she walked past him to the fridge, grabbing out a pre-made meal and sticking it into the microwave, “Plus, I don’t even think that’s bacon and eggs anymore…”

Khan looked towards his daughter with a dejected look, his eyes wandered back down to the skillet that had the remnants of charged egg and bacon, “I didn’t know you pre-made your meals.”

“There’s a lot you don’t know, dad.”

A pinch of guilt hit Khan’s heart, he knew deep down he hadn’t been the best father over this last year, Nori was always better at understanding Uzi and being a mediator between the father and daughter, however, with her gone there was now a rift in Khan and Uzi’s relationship he didn’t know how to mend by himself. He watched his daughter grab the tupperware out of the microwave, opening a drawer and then another, swearing underneath her breath as she tried to locate where the silverware was now located.

Khan opened the drawer to his left, “Looking for the silverware Uzi?” His daughter paused, giving the older man a weird look, “You never call me Uzi, what changed?”

“I thought it’d be nice…your mother always called you by Uzi and maybe, well I thought..” he hesitated, dropping the burnt skillet into the sink, “I don’t have to call you-”

“You can.” Uzi quickly interjected, not really thinking before she spoke. The teen would never admit it outloud, but she has been desperately missing the closeness of her family from before Nori passed away and even though her only living parent was hard to get along with sometimes, he was still her dad and wanted nothing more then to be close with him again, “I don’t mind, it’s weird hearing no one call me Uzi anymore..”

Khan gave his daughter a small smile, “Okay Uzi…why don’t I give you a ride for your first day? I won’t be able to for most days, but I took the morning off so we could spend some together.”

Uzi pondered for a second, picking at her food, apart of her was still apprehensive at the change of heart her father was displaying, but the yearning for a parent again gnawed at her heart, “Okay yeah, sure, we can do that..I guess.”

“Wonderful! Oh and remember Uzi, no boys-”

“Bite me! You know I don’t think about that shit!”

“Language!”

Uzi groaned, shoving a bite of her food into her mouth, “bwite meh.”

Noah was quick to finish up eating his breakfast, it felt weird sitting by himself at the table in the mornings. Cynthia, his little sister, has been acting off the last few days. His mom’s think something is wrong and her brain tumor came back, so they rushed off to the hospital with Cyn for a check up. Dread was the only emotion that Noah could feel, he was scared that his sister would have to go through treatments again and never have a chance at having a normal life. There wasn’t much he could do either than go to school and wait for any news from either of his moms.

The screen on his phone flashed, it was a message from Veronica in the groupchat containing all of is friends;

V!: N, you’re next on the kidnapping list!!

Thad!: Why are we kidnapping N???

Lizzy!: dumbass we’re just picking him up

Thad!: But why call it kidnapping?? :(

Lizzy!: cuz its funny duh

Doll!: I’m after N, right?

Lizzy!: duh! V finally getting a car for her 18th birthday fuckin rules, no more bus for any of us!

Thad!: I still had to take the bus though :(

Lizzy!: no one wants to get up at 5 am to take you to your morning classes little bro…

N!: I’ll be waiting outside on my porch! :)

Doll!: Any news about Cyn yet?

N!: Unfortunately not, neither of my moms have gotten back to me yet. :(

Doll!: That’s unfortunate, do you think they’ll be home once school is over?

N!: Most likely, why?

Doll!: Maybe we can go get her a gift together and bring it to her? I know this is scary for her.
Noah smiled at his phone, sitting on one of the lounge chairs that his mother, Jessica, insisted that they have. He’s known his friend group since elementary school, so naturally all of them know about the cancer and constant hospital visits and all the scares that Noah has endured since he was 8. It’s nice knowing they all view Cyn like a little sibling too and want to make her feel better too.

N!: That’s a wonderful idea! Is anyone else interested?

Thad!: Count me in N&M’s! No after school practice today since we had it in the morning today bro!!!

Lizzy!: me and v are so down! She even offered to drive to the super nice mall outside the city to get that one stuffed animal cyn hasn’t stopped talking about wanting, the $200 on your mom’s keep telling her to wait till her birthday for

N!: Are you guys sure you want to get something that expensive for her?

Lizzy!: ofc we do, she’s practically our sister too, anything for that sweet angel

“Hey bitch! Get in!”

Before Noah could respond to Lizzy’s text, the real Lizzy was in his driveway, waving towards him from the passenger seat of Veronica’s new car, a Mazda3. It was nice, very sleek and in pristine condition. It was black of course, and the interior was already decked out in Veronica’s own personal taste. Noah sat in the passenger seat, watching Veronica reapply her cherry red lipstick in the pulldown mirror.

When Noah was younger, he used to have the biggest crush on Veronica, who wouldn’t to be honest. She’s around 5’11, not as tall as Noah but still tall compared to other people their age, and strong. Veronica is a talented aerial gymnast, having powerful legs and toned arms. Her hair was always kept short because of her sport, but her facial structure was built for the chin length bob. Veronica kept her hair a silver color, loving how it gave her a vampiric look due to her eyes being a natural red. No one is really sure how that happened. To match her crimson eyes, she always wore cherry red lipstick. It always complemented her paler skin. However, that crush left when Veronica came out 3 years ago as a lesbian to everyone and he respected that immediately, even getting a point where last year he told her about his crush on her, to which she responded;

“I know.”

They both still laugh about it.

Noah was pretty sure Veronica has a crush on Lizzy, they two spend a lot of time together and he’s heard Veronica rant a few times on how cute Lizzy is. Noah personally didn’t see the appeal, however he can understand it. Lizzy is around 5 '4, about average height and has thick blonde hair that is always kept in a high ponytail. She decided to try bangs 2 years ago and never went back, always having bangs cut to frame her face, which gave her a more mature look. Lizzy has always been a fashionista, compared to everyone else she always pushed the school's dress code to its limit. Today, she had hemmed the schools uniform skirt to the point that it’s almost a mini skirt, with snow white tights, thick white fuzzy leg warmers and chunky white boots, to match she wore a fuzzy white cropped jacket instead of the schools blazer, but did wear the button up. Her hair was the same, however she did follow the white theme with white lashes and silver eyeshadow. It contrasted well with Lizzy’s pale pink eyes.

The journey to Doll’s home was filled with laughter, she actually had joined their group later in elementary. She doesn’t talk much about it, but from what she’s opened up about over the years, both her parents passed away in an accident in Russia so she was sent to live with her aunt on her dad’s side in the United States. Noah remembers the day he first met her, no one could pronounce her name, Lyubov Mikhailov. Her hair was brown back then, now dyed to a light purple, and super short. Noah’s reminiscing of the pass was interrupted by Doll herself stepping into the car, taking a seat next to him. She gave the man a small smile and a curt nod, placing her bag into the middle seat where he also was.

Doll was always a bit mysterious in Noah’s opinion, even though they’ve known each other for over a decade, he feels as if she’s still hiding a lot of things, but he never pressures her to tell him anything. Doll currently is just a little bit taller than Lizzy, around 5 '6, but prefers to wear platform shoes to make herself appear even taller. Doll also always wore her uniform correctly, one of the few things Noah and her have in common, she prefers the long skirt that goes all the way to her ankles and the baggier blazer top. Doll has always disliked wearing anything form fitting. Doll’s skin was on the pale side, with large orange eyes and round glasses.

“What time should we all meet to go to the mall?” Doll’s voice still had a hint of Russian accent whenever she spoke, it can mainly be heard in her vowels.

“How about at 2:15? I have to talk to my dad after class,” Lizzy grumbled, slumping down in her seat and crossing her arms.

“What did you do this time?” Veronica snickered out, knowing well that Lizzy’s father was a hardass when it came to her grades.

Lizzy rolled her eyes, “I didn’t do shit! Probably cause my dad’s pissed about my grade or something.”

“Which one?” Doll inquired

Lizzy hesitated, huffing, “Math.”

Doll rose an eyebrow, Lizzy could see from the rearview mirror, “Isn’t he the calculus teacher?”
“Just cause he’s good at math, doesn’t mean I am!”

“Thad’s good at math.”

“He’s only good at math! I’m good at everything else that’s not math!”

“We’re only 3 weeks into the fall semester Lizzy, what do you think you’re going to do about calculus? Maybe switch?” Noah’s voice was laced with concern, feeling sympathetic for his friend, the only person in the group who’s able to help with math is going to be Thad, but Lizzy would rather eat leather than ask her twin for help.

Lizzy let out a sigh, “I don’t know, my dad would kill me if he found out I switched out of his calc class to be in something easier..”

Doll leaned forward, placing her hands onto Lizzy's seat, “Maybe befriend someone in your class and cheat off them?”

“Not a bad idea Doll!” Lizzy sat up in her seat, turning to look at Doll, “I’ll just find some genius nerd, use my good looks to put them into a trance, then boom! A in calc and my dad gets off my ass!”

Noah grimace, “I don’t know if that's such a go..-”

“Shhhh, it’s foolproof.” Lizzy didn’t let Noah voice his concerns with her obviously flawed plan, but he kept his mouth shut and will be there to tell Lizzy, ‘I told you so’ when it eventually blows up in her face.

____________________________________________________________________________

It was time for the dreaded calculus.

Lizzy slouched in her seat, tapping her acrylic nails against the desk while holding her chin with the palm of her other hand. Pink eyes scanned the room, trying to figure out which nerd she wanted to ‘befriend’ for the semester, just so she can pass calculus. However, no one caught her eye. The teen could tell right away most of the others in her class were struggling with the material too. Lizzy knew right away when her teacher was going to be her own father, one of the most boring and difficult teachers in the math department, she was boned.

However, as if the gods wanted to bless her on this fine Wednesday morning, a new girl Lizzy has never seen before walked into the room. She’s clearly alternative and a rule breaker for wearing her uniform incorrectly. That’s perfect. A grin appeared on her face, crossing her legs and tapping the shoulder of the person in front of her. He turned around giving her a weird look.

“Move seats, now. And I’ll make sure my father won’t dock your fucking grades.” She gave him a sickly sweet smile, a sinister look in her eyes. The boy let out a squeak, scrambling to grab his items and find a different seat in the room. Lizzy is known as the Queen Bee of Copper Academy, beauty and brains (for the most part), having it all. With the random boy now gone, that only left Lizzy gaining the trust of the new girl and praying that she’s smart enough to get whatever nonsense is being spewed at the class for an hour.

The blonde waved, grabbing the new girl's attention and pointing towards the now free seat in front of her. Lizzy tried to give a friendly smile, but the girl’s natural face is an annoyed look so it probably looked forced. The stranger looked confused, raising an eyebrow towards Lizzy, however with no other seats to choose from, she apprehensively made her way towards the open desk.

Lizzy watched the newbie, examining her features to get a good read on the kind of person she is. Round face, big eyes with eccentric makeup, not to mention on the shorter side. One thing she noted was her features were evidently asian, making Lizzy mentally slap herself for unintentionally acting upon a stereotype.

However she’s still praying that this random girl is good at math.

“I’m Lindsay, but everyone just calls me Lizzy.” The blonde's fingers were intertwined with each other, placing her chin on top of her hands and trying to act friendly. However, anyone who knows Lizzy knows that she’s anything but nice. Queen Bee, Queen mean, Queen bitch; she has many titles and keeps up a really good act at school as the most perfect girl. However, her friends know the real her, the one who fangirls over shows, indulges in fandoms and will talk your ear off about how most companies are pussies for not making two same-sex characters canonically in love.

Though, this new girl knew nothing about any of that, and was on guard, “Uzuki…just call me Uzi.”

“Like the submachine gun?” This piqued Lizzy’s interest, push the right buttons and she can get past Uzi’s wall’s and gain her trust.

“Yeah my mom calls…called me Uzi, I like the way it sounds more,” her voice was low, turning her body to the face front.

Bingo.

“Well, your mom’s right, Uzi does sound wayyy cooler than Uzi, my mom called me Lizzy when I was little and like the way it sounds more than Lindsay.”

Having no mom is a weird thing to have in common, but hey, if it works it works. Lizzy could tell from Uzi’s body language and the fact that she corrected herself about her mom, means it's still fresh. So she has to trudge carefully when it comes to this topic or it could spell trouble for her foolproof plan that she gassed up. Lindsay didn’t expect Uzi to reply to that, figuring the last thing she wants to talk about is her mom, so diverting the conversation is needed.

“What brings you to Copper Academy? Lindsay inquired, switching the legs she had crossed and laying her arms flat on her desk.

“My dad wanted to move, nothing special really.”

“Well, what other classes do you have, let me see.” She held out her hand, inviting Uzi to hand over her schedule to get more of an idea on the level of intelligence this new girl has.

Uzi’s walls continued to be up, rummaging through her bag and handing a piece of paper towards the Queen Bee. The more they interacted, the more difficult it was to read Uzi’s expression, it held nothing noteworthy. Just a blank look, seeming uninterested in whatever Lizzy had to offer. It only made the blonde more determined, especially after looking at Uzi’s schedule.

7:10 a.m - 8:10 a.m.: Advanced English Literature
8:20 a.m. - 9:20 a.m.: Advanced Physics
9:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.: Calculus
10:40 a.m. - 11:40 a.m: Lunch
11:50 a.m. - 12:50 p.m: Introduction to College Engineering
1:00 pm - 2:00 pm: Advanced 2D Drawing

High level classes for every single period, classes that she knew her friends were taking and even struggling with. Befriending her would be like discovering a gold mine.

“Holy shit you must be smart.”

“Isn’t everyone in this school?”

“Nah, my twin is dumb as a rock, not when it comes to math though, it’s like someone just gave us opposite abilities, but I got almost everything and he just got the one.”

“So, you’re bad at math then?” Uzi raised one of her dyed eyebrows, giving Lizzy a suspicious look.

Lizzy gave a blank look, “Yeah.”

In return for the honesty, Uzi snorted, “Woah, didn’t think you’d admit it.”

“Math’s hard!!” Lizzy whined, “It doesn’t help da- Mr. Heller is the wor-”

Before Lizzy could finish, the bell rung, indicating it was time for class start and Mr. Heller, who was off in his own world and playing solitaire at his desk, immediately dimmed the lights and started projecting a presentation.

“We will be going over Derivatives today. I expect you all to have an understanding by the end of this week for our weekly quizzes. I also don’t have office hours this week. If you need help, email me, I might get back to you in a timely manner or after the quiz this Friday.” his voice was monotone, sounding like he was the most bored he’s ever been in his life.

Uzi can now piece together what Lizzy was trying to tell her.

A random student raised their arm and began to speak, “Sir it’s wedne-”

“The derivative of a function f(x) is usually represented by d/dx (f(x)) (or) df/dx (or) Df(x) (or) f'(x).”

You couldn’t audibly hear it, but everyone in the room simultaneously let out a groan.

The only good thing in her fathers class was the 5 minute break he had in the middle of the lesson. Her brain felt like it was on fire trying to understand anything he was teaching. Lindsay stretched her back against the back of the chair, before immediately slumping back into a position with poor posture.

“This class is so stupid..” Lizzy whispered to herself, running a hand through her bangs, not caring in this exact moment that was messing them up. She scrambled out the equation she was attempting to solve, rewriting it to try again.

A piece of paper could be seen in her peripheral, it’s a light purple sticky note, with the process of how to solve the first principle written out. Lizzy looked up, staring at Uzi’s back and then back down to the sticky note. The alternative new girl has really neat handwriting, and it was simple to understand, she even included small notes to remember the order of solving the equation. Lindsay ripped one of her own sticky notes from her pencil case, scribbling down something before slapping it onto Uzi’s back with a grin.

‘Thank you! :D’

Noah’s influence was evident with the :D.

Uzi gave Lizzy an incredulous look, noting that the blonde was too distracted solving the equation to really notice Uzuki was staring at her. The sticky note was simple, but it made a small smile find its way onto the purple teen’s normally blank face. She shoved it into her jacket pocket, turning back to the front to finish up the assignment the class was given to have completed by the end of the period. Lucky for Uzi, unlucky for everyone else, it came easy to her. One of the few things she can thank Khan for. A lot of her brains came from her dad, while she’s a spitting image of her mother.

Once the bell rang to signal class was over, most of the students rushed to leave the room as soon as possible. Lizzy is normally amongst those who leave the second they’re allowed to, mainly to avoid another lecture from her dad, however she stayed behind a bit, waiting for the perfect opportunity to make an offer towards Uzi. Once Lindsay observed the alternative newbie put her backpack on, it was time to strike.

“Uzi, wanna sit with my friends and I for lunch?” she managed to sneak an arm around Uzi’s own, now having their arms interlocked.

“Wh-“

“Great, let's gooo!!” Lizzy sang, immediately dragging the smaller teen with her out the classroom and towards the cafeteria.

Uzi was left confused, being practically kidnapped by the random girl who was definitely just using her for math help. Though, she was under the assumption Lizzy was just going to be nice to Uzuki in class only and then pretend the alternative teen didn’t exist in any other scenario. The cheerfulness and the lack of understanding boundaries made Uzi nervous to meet this girl’s…other friends.

Today was going to be long, Uzi can feel it.
