Take it All Back

Summary:

As a last resort Raven is thrusted in the the past to change Earth's future. But this isn't her Earth?

Story ties to my other story In Between. Can be read as a standalone

Notes:

This story is tied to my other story In Between. The tie in chapter will be a future chapter there. This can be read as a standalone and doesn't need the other story to fully understand.

In Between tie in chapter should be chapter 8 (lol yes it's not out yet but I wanted to start this).

The beginning is meant to be confusing. It's just a prelude.

Chapter 1: Raven

Chapter Text

After Apokolips War

Prelude

Raven

It felt like waking up from a deep sleep. Her eyes felt heavy, limbs numb and her hearing muffled.

“- awake. Eyes open-”

“-oh gods. I know-”

“-what happened? Who’s-”

Her team?

Why would she hear their voices? They were all dead- wasn't she dead?

She wearily looked to her side feeling dazed and exhausted. What happened?

“-ven.” her vision blurred in and out. She couldn't even make out shapes. Just light and dark spots…

“-to the infirmary and call-”

Who was talking? Why couldn't her body move?

Sleep paralysis…?

She tried to breathe but found even that hard to do. Her chest stung and her throat was filled with something, but…

… but this pain was familiar.

Deja vu…?

Raven felt her body getting moved to be sat upright and smelt Kori’s perfume. It was her teacher's summer smell. She only worn this scent in summer.

The soft sounds of Donna quietly crying while Nightwing radioed the Watchtower were also eerily familiar.

Wait.

That's right.

This happened x months ago. When she first figured out her feelings for Damian and when her dad was still quiet.

This was the mission she almost died.

How…?

“I got her,” she felt Damian’s presence as he quickly lifted her into his arms.

Raven’s connection to her body waned again. Suddenly, it felt like she was watching herself but still in her body.

She (not her- her body) whimpered at the movement.

“You're safe,” she heard Damian whisper as his hold tightened.

Her eyes opened sleepily and she felt warmth spread across her chest, “Damian?”

“I’m here,” he carried her through the portal that opened up. She felt them move through the magic portal.

“I'm sorry.” She whispered.

She remembered saying that. Was this a dream? Maybe a memory she subconsciously held and was reliving?

“Thank you, I-I… Damian I-” her vision went out again, “...wanted-”

“-aven! Eyes open. Stay-”

Raven tried to open her eyes but she felt out of body again. Why was she so disconnected?

She heard Damian call out to someone and they yelled back.

Why couldn't she do anything? She felt conscious but her connection to her body was faint. One moment she felt and heard everything clearly then the next she felt like she was in the passenger seat.

“Lay her here.” Zatanna. It had to be.

She smelt cigarette smoke and a hand on her forehead. Constantine?

“I can help, but-” she heard rustling and a distinct British accent. Then more chatter and arguing.

Then-

“-know what might be happening. If I do this… she'll live, but-”

“Explain it to u-” Starfire.

“-help. We do have-” Nightwing?

“-ow do we know. He could be-” Damian.

She could hear the rest of her team and a few Leaguers talk. Everyone sounded worried.

“Fuck it,”

She felt a warmth spread across her body. It felt reliving and all at once she felt her body connect.

“Since it was time sensitive- I made the choice.” Constantine.

Everything felt terrible.

She coughed and gasped for breath. Everything was off and, simultaneously, it felt like she was drenched in cold water.

Gods, everything hurt.

She felt someone help her sit up as she coughed and tried to breathe.

“It’s okay. You're safe,” she heard a voice whisper and pull her into a hug.

If she was right. It was Damian.

“Tr-trashcan,” she managed out before one was pushed near her face and she emptied her stomach.

“What did you do!” Zatanna hissed in the background which started while arguement and discussion nearby

“Are you okay?” Damian asked. He, from memory, was the one holding her up.

She coughed and tried not to dry heave.

Conner would say- “Is she okay? Internally, I see Constintine healed her.”

Donna would cry- “Thank the gods!”

Gar- “I'll get water and something mild for her to eat.”

She felt a hand brush her hair out of her face and knew it was Wally, “I thought she died cause of me…”

Damian’s arms tightened, “She’s okay.”

She finally opened her eyes on her own command, “How…” she whispered.

In her past, the one she remembered, she had smiled at Damian and said, “I'm okay now.,” before passing out.

This time, she leaned on Damian and looked around until she met Constintine’s eyes, “What did you do…?”

Constintine looked startled before uttering, “Shit,”
