Janet Drake and Helena Sandsmark sit across from each other at a small table at the left side of the foreground. Janet is smiling, and feeding an orange slice to an also smiling Helena. They are both leaning in toward each other, and the table is littered in books, coffee, mimosas, and the remains of brunch. The table is on a patio, and the background shows distant hills, ocean and islands, all in strong morning light.
