Work Text:

“Golden Girl, I still don't understand why you would pick Gryffindor over Ravenclaw?” Blaise prodded her with his wand, gesturing to the room they were in, in her apartment above the bookstore she called her own. They were surrounded by rows upon rows of books, all of which she treasured dearly.

Draco tilted his head leaning into her further from where he was seated at her feet. “Now that's something I've always wanted to ask you but never got around to doing so.” He gave her a lopsided grin, one eye squinting to keep out the glare of the lamp overhead. “With your love for books and your cleverness, anyone would be right to believe you're a ‘Claw.”

“I was almost a hatstall, the hat sorted me into Gryffindor.” she leant down, letting her hair fall in a curtain over his face, shielding him from the light. “But something in me told me I would always do well as a Lion.”

Hermione heard Ron roar comically in the background, but the sound was lost to her, as Draco reached up, pulling her down closer to kiss her softly.

She smiled against his lips, even as his chin bumped into her nose, and his warm breath tickled her neck. She tangled her fingers in his hair, tugging gently on the roots, before pulling away with an affectionate brush of her nose against his.

Notes:

Also posted on my twitter for Dramione Month 2024.

This was a half-hearted, pathetic little attempt at today's prompt as I am not feeling my best, but I didn't want to not pen down something.

Update: Thank you Laura for the amazing art you created, it captures what I imagined so perfectly! Check out her twitter for more brilliant artwork!
