Summary
Eddie doesn’t mention it for the rest of the shift. Or when the shift ends, and Buck quickly showers with water so hot that even the briefest of touches turned his skin bright red, and he notices that Eddie is taking his time getting dressed after his own shower, waiting for him. He doesn’t even mention it when he gives a half-assed excuse for why he needs Buck to drive the two of them to Christopher’s after-school robotics club pickup, or on the entire ride there. Buck keeps waiting with baited breath for Eddie to mention it, to ask about what the hell happened that caused him to hyperventilate at the sight of a teenage boy, but he doesn’t.
Buck is thankful he doesn’t, because Buck gets to wrap Christopher up in his arms and lift him three feet off the ground into a hug that Christopher feigns embarrassment at, and Buck doesn’t have to do that with that conversation looming over them. Because Buck knows when Eddie is making a point to not talk about something, and Buck knows that Eddie is waiting for Buck to bring it up, first.
Buck will. Eventually, he will. But he has to learn how to, first. He hasn’t quite gotten that part worked out yet.
