An incomplete longing

Summary:

He thought it would be easy to follow that order, he would pretend to take responsibility for the egg that would be assigned to him and the other French and then disappear to be transferred to his place of work.

It would be a short time outside, too short to even establish relationships or friendships that would get in the way of his work.

But it wasn't.

-
Kameto couldn't wait to see the one who lived in his dreams again.

Work Text:

Kameto sighed in relief as he stepped away from the screen, leaning back against the chair in a more comfortable position.

Finally, the last day watching the islanders without their knowledge, the last day locked away without seeing the light of day. The federation would let him go to observe the islanders more closely and deliver his reports with more complete information.

He was so excited to breathe the fresh air, to meet his friends again and see the protagonist of his dreams, the inhabitant he watched the most from the cameras, his only thought every day and the reason he endured living locked up filling out reports for the federation.

On sleepless nights locked in the darkness, he still vividly remembered the first day on the Island, remembered their first meeting when the word "beau" passed through his mind as he saw him, unreachable standing on the rubble of the impact and ethereal under the light of the May moon.

Roier could not even imagine what Kameto had to endure to see him again.

Arriving on the island was not an accident, it was planned, and he knew it because like everyone else, they all had something to do with the federation even if they didn't remember it.

Kameto had a job to do, and the orders were clear: "Do not get too involved with the inhabitants and/or the eggs."

He thought it would be easy to follow that order, he would pretend to take responsibility for the egg that would be assigned to him and the other French and then disappear to be transferred to his place of work.

It would be a short time outside, too short to even establish relationships or friendships that would get in the way of his work.

But it wasn't.

Every night was hell, because he dreamed of that figure in a black coat, laughing beautifully while watching in the distance how everyone exploded due to hundreds of mines. He dreamed of that welcome party at "Las Casualonas", with those dazzling eyes and that desirable body in black fishnet stockings and scarlet lingerie that caught everyone's attention.

He dreamed of the touch of his hands when he gave him diamonds and TNT thinking it was his birthday, of Roier's sad smile telling him it was a lie and above all of Cellbit's face twisted in disgust when Roier allowed Kameto to live in the castle.

He dreamed terribly of that day, of Roier's dull face asking for help to save his son and of Bobby's death (who somehow became more fond of him than his own egg). It was a horrible day, the sky was grey and the rain seemed eternal. They all joined together to help, they walked a long way and faced hundreds of monsters until they reached a shattered place.

Being killed multiple times was nothing compared to the pain he felt when he saw Roier's tearful face as he said goodbye to Bobby.

"Stay strong" was the only thing Kameto could say to Roier, because hundreds of words were crossing his mind, Roier smiled forcibly as he wiped away the tears at the edge of his eyes, tears that Kameto wanted to wipe away with his own hands.

And he still regretted that those were the last words he said to Roier before disappearing for months.

But the day had come, he was "freed" by the Federation, people asking him questions and looking for answers about his disappearance, especially Cellbit.

Cellbit was attentive to him and everyone when they arrived on the Island, offering food and warning about the dangers of it. He might seem mysterious and cunning, but Kameto had observed him for so long that it was easy for him to read him.

Cellbit was actually quite stupid, he was too confident and showed him Ordo Theoritas, Kameto did everything possible not to laugh when he was invited.

The idea that it was all a plan of the federation and that he was actually infiltrating, and the fool of the 'detective' offering information on a silver platter, did not even cross his mind.

Why had Roier married that guy?
