Away from you

Summary:

This is a “sequel” to the amazing fic Tim Drake: Not-A-Wayne by LialeeEderian
Tim makes a plan to make sure he never commits a mistake with the Waynes: Leave the Waynes behind and stop involving himself in their life.

I am in love with somebody and guess what?
It's not you, it's not you

Notes:

I want to thank LialeeEderian cause they inspired me to write something finally.
I also want you dear reader to be graceful this is my first fic and I'm being quite ambitious with it. And English is not my first language.

Otherwise, enjoy <3

(The lyrics on the summary come from "Creature" by It Looks Sad)

Chapter 1: New beginnings (Tim Drake)

Chapter Text

-

He doesn't regret it, he doesn’t.

And sure, he wasn’t convinced it was the best decision as he made his way out of Nanda Parbat and Tibet. Of course, he was doubtful of his decision on the plane, but by the time the plane had landed, he had a plan almost perfect…

IT WENT TO SHIT THE MOMENT HE STEPPED INTO GOTHAM! Ok not really, it kinda happened when he got home at almost noon on a Monday, seemed all normal. Except for this TINY, minuscule detail. His parents were home. They were supposed to be in Egypt! Tim had made sure! His travel had been rushed sure, but it was still planned. So, he made his way inside, no use delaying it and maybe he still could get his plan to work.

“TIMOTHY JACKSON DRAKE, WHERE THE- ” His father’s yelling was interrupted by his mother’s “Language Jack”
And isn’t that just the best welcome one can receive after saving the neighbours?

“Hello Mother, Hello Father. I’m glad you’re back home safely.” He greeted them as he had always done the few times they came home.

“Timothy, you know me and your father aren’t home too often, so I’m hoping you don’t intend to try and fool me into believing you’ve been home this last week” Week? Surely it wasn’t… no yeah travelling does take time “So, be smart and tell me the truth” She wasn’t even looking at him.

“I went to visit a friend, I’ve been helping him with schoolwork” Surely Duke will lie for him… right? Tim could only ho- His mother is laughing even his dad seems confused.

“Oh, Timothy surely it isn’t the other way around, I saw your grades before the summer break. Sweetheart,YOU are MY son She’s in front of him and grabbing him by his chin roughly if he says so himself “You can’t fool me, if you wanted to leave this god-awful place you should have said so.” Let it be known that Janet’s ice-blue eyes had never looked as scary as they are at this moment. But glaciers have always had a scary beauty.

“Mother I want to leave Gotham, just like you and Father” After all Tim is his mother’s son, he knows an opportunity when he sees one. And what better way to start his new Wayne Free™ Life than by leaving their environment?

“A wise decision my boy, but perhaps not exactly like us” his father chuckles “You are too young and lack the knowledge to accompany us… I say boarding school is in order; don’t you agree dear?” Said his dad while leaning on the couch.
And as his mother hugged him, cold like a winter night “A wise decision indeed, he’s almost an adolescent. He needs freedom outside this tainted city”

His plan might have been initially trashed but let it be known that Tim Drake was good at improvising. This was perfect an escape from the Waynes and their nocturnal activities. Plus, Tim had mended his last mistake with them, he’ll make sure it’s the last one. So instead of sleeping the night off and getting rid of his jetlag, he planned.

By the morning Tim had a list of all the places he wanted to see and the boarding schools available, and of course, he correlated it with his parent’s closest expedition, he heard his mother talking about wanting to keep a close eye on him and train him. Not sinister at all. Then came dealing with Duke the one friend that he made who knew about his involvement, so he decided to keep a friendship, but only if Duke could keep his mouth shut about Tim to the Waynes.

A call was made, an agreement reached, a promise to keep touch made, and a program and codes shared. And so, Tim called a Drake meeting which ended wonderfully. Digital Wayne-infested Footprint erased and Tim was ready.

And like that Timothy Jackson Drake the wonderful Drake heir, the perfect son, the best kid at a gala was soon shipped away from Gotham. “A truly sad event” said some of Gotham’s elite wrongly so because this was nothing short of the Perfect New Beginning for Tim Drake Not-a-Wayne. Never a Wayne.
