AREA UNKNOWN LIBRARY 1
The library.
Aimsey had always wanted to go to the library. Back in the demon realm, reading wasn’t.. well, it wasn’t necessary.
Who needed reading when you could do something better, like blowing stuff up or setting it on fire?
Yeah, that was the answer to everything in the demon realm.
Bored? Blow stuff up!
Angry? Blow stuff up!
Sad? Blow stuff up!
Happy? Blow stuff- you get the idea.
Aimsey thought it was a pretty good lifestyle, actually, until he came to the human realm and realized JUST how different things were here.
In fact, blowing stuff up was a crime! How stupid is that?
They even had their own name for setting stuff on fire!! What was it?
Ah yes. Arson.
Aimsey thought it was a pretty cool name until Guqqie informed him that it was, in fact, also a crime.
Talk about BORING.
Libraries, however, intrigued him.
He had to admit, a place where you weren’t allowed to talk, and your one job was to pick a book and read it?
Aimsey liked that, kind of.
They were looking forward to the day that they would discover and go to a library.
Thankfully, Aimsey didn’t have to wait long.
It was one of those days. Y’know, when you wake up and blink and suddenly it was night and you haven’t done anything productive.
The sun was setting into the night, and the moon was already shining from the horizon.
Aimsey was wandering back home, feeling tired despite the uneventful day.
Nothing had happened today. So boring.
As she was walking however, they saw a sort of wooden building in the near distance.
Once he wandered closer, he spotted a sign. Wandering curiously towards it, it read:
(Guq’s Bookshop/Library ; opening soon!!)
Oh wow.
This is awesome. Plus a bookshop?? Bonus points.
Their first instinct was to peek in. Surely Guqqie wouldn’t mind, right? She was always happy when Aimsey showed interest in something that wasn’t destructive, and this was quite the opposite.
He pushed open the door slowly, and a voice spoke, scaring Aimsey half to death.
“Who’s there?” Guqqie.
“Uhh, Aimsey.” Aimsey said uncertainly.
“Oh! I was hoping you’d come by!! Come here, look what I’ve done so far.” Guqqie said excitedly.
Aimsey looked around. Rows of bookshelves filled the room, most still empty. There was a corner in the room the was empty save for a dark grey carpet. Guqqie was hidden behind a pile of books, sitting in front of a half full shelf and putting the books in an order that Aimsey couldn’t really make out.
“Come, sit here.” Guqqie patted the space next to her, and Aimsey sat down, looking at the different titles.
Diary of a grass block
Um
Steve and Alex’s guide to survival
Who the hell were Steve and Alex?
The little prince
Why is it written in some sort of ancient human language? What the actual hell? [Note: it’s french]
Everything you need to know about Greek mythology: The essentials!!
Now this she was interested in. Aimsey reached out to take the book, before looking at Guqqie. Guqqie looked up and waved her hand.
“Take whatever ya like. I got most of these from a village a few years ago and kept em in the storage.” They shrugged.
Aimsey took the book eagerly and flicked through it. Pictures, ancient texts, descriptions, this book literally had it all.
Aimsey went to the index and looked for the word “Icarus.”
There we go. Page 168.. Aimsey flipped over to the page and started reading.
He didn’t even know when he blacked out.
It might’ve been hours, or maybe a few minutes, or maybe little under an hour, when Aimsey woke up.
They were lying in the corner of the room, the empty corner with the grey carpet.
There was a blue blanket covering their body and a pillow that was under his head. The book was lying down a few inches from his face, but judging from his position, they must’ve turned a lot in his sleep.
There was a small note attached to the book.
“Hey Aims,
You fell asleep on me, which was a bit of a surprise, but thankfully, the page you were on was still open. If you want to catch up, you were on page 173. I hope you slept well. Please take the book as a gift and don’t hesitate to pop in when the store/library/ whatever I’m calling it is open!! Haha
Lots of love,
Guq <3”
Aimsey felt a bit embarrassed. He must’ve been really tired to just fall asleep like that. Still though, they were glad. He had visited a library, He had gotten a book, and he spent some time with Guqqie.
So he felt happy.
