“No. Not yet,” Billy says, his voice still rough but finally working. He turns to his mother, urgency in his eyes. “What happened? Where’s Stu?”
Nancy’s expression softens, her hand rubbing his arm in an attempt to soothe. “You don’t remember?” she asks, her voice low and careful, as if she’s unsure how much to say.
Billy shakes his head, a flicker of anxiety creeping in. He remembers flashes, glimpses of that night, but the rest is a void.
