Chapter 1: Laundry

Chapter Text

Having members of the League of Villains inside his apartment was surely a crazy thing, much more so when two of the said members decided that they’ll live with him full time. Lending them his apartment for meetings was one thing, but letting them live in it was a whole different topic.

But Natsuo got slowly accustomed to this new setting, in which he woke up to either his roommates shouting at each other, or to the smoke coming out from one of the rooms. This morning he woke up to the latter, rising to his feet to see which part of his house was it this time.

“I can’t believe that you’re trying to burn my house again. ” Natsuo sighed, looking at Dabi who was now.. sleeping on the couch? Huh. Even he wasn’t mad enough to burn his apartment in sleep, so that meant the fire wasn’t due to his flames, but because of someone actually cooking.

Or at least trying to.

“Tomura, please tell me you didn’t burn my new pan.” Todoroki begged as he entered the kitchen.

“I didn’t burn it.” Shigaraki promised, but that didn’t mean that the pan was in shape, because Natsuo could clearly see ash on his floor that definitely wasn’t a burned egg.

“Really? Tomura, please..”

“That wasn’t my fault! It just slipped and I tried to catch it and then I got burned and this shit happened.”

Natsuo sighed, but came closer to the villain who suddenly got even more defensive and took a few steps back.

“It’s Dabi’s fault. Be mad at him, not me.”

“I’m not mad, Tomura. Okay, maybe a little, after all it was a new pan, but I’m more worried about you burning your hand.” Natsuo explained, grabbing Shigaraki’s hand to watch it closely for the burn. Using the fact that the older one seemed to freeze in his spot, Natsuo pulled him towards the sink and put his hand under cold water.

“What were you even trying to do? You need to be more careful with things like that, what if something worse happened? Burns aren’t a laughing matter, you should know about that since you work with Tou- Dabi so much.” Natsuo scolded with a loud sigh, making Shigaraki even more confused.

Sure, they were.. friends or whatever, but still, the way Natsuo acted made Shigaraki question a lot of things about him. The first one being the fact that he really realized that he is now in the kitchen with Shigaraki Tomura, one of the most wanted villains in Musutafu.

“Stop fussing over me so much, I’m fine. It was just a little burn. God, you’re acting like some mother.” Shigaraki complained instead of thanking him, but the way he said that lacked the bite that was there just a few months ago, back when they first met.

“Shut up. I’m just worried, especially since I woke up to you trying to burn my kitchen.”

“I wasn’t trying to burn it, I just wanted to make y.. to make breakfast.” Shigaraki explained, pulling away his hand to wipe it down with a towel.

“Next time maybe wait for me, then we can do it together. It’s much nicer to cook with someone else.” Natsuo smiled, not missing the way Tomura hesitated earlier, but being nice enough to not mention it.

“Next time I’ll make you do all of the work while I watch. I’m not touching this thing again, it’s too troublesome.”

“Whatever you want, Tomura. Then let’s get us something to eat now. Something easy and that doesn’t need a pan for it..” Natsuo looked through his cabinets just to take out the cereals a minute later. “This will do!”

“What are you, five?”

“Oh shut up, there is nothing better for a quick breakfast than cereal with milk.” Natsuo smiled, pushing a bowl towards Shigaraki. “Be my guest.”

Shigaraki didn’t need Natsuo to repeat himself, quickly pouring his cereals and milk into the bowl. Even though he complained before, there was just something nice about having breakfast like this with Natsuo. It made Tomura feel like he was just a normal guy.

And maybe it was stupid, but sometimes he wondered what would happen if his life went differently. If he stayed quirkless, just like Natsuo is. Would he become a student like him too? If so, what would he study? Would he get a part time job, something stupid and so ‘broke student’ coded, like working in some low level restaurant or maybe in konbini?

But it’s not like studying really did excite Shigaraki that much, he preferred playing games over hovering over books. Maybe he would be a full-time player, become a streamer? Would Natsuo watch him? Would they even meet? Surely they would.

Right?

It was embarrassing getting so hung up on this topic, but Shigaraki couldn’t just leave it like this. So after a while, he finally broke the silence between them

“You know, in another life, I would have really liked doing laundry and other stupid chores with you.” Wow, that sounded much more corny than he thought it would, which made Shigaraki cringe as soon as the words left his mouth.

“Why not in this one?” Natsuo asked innocently, looking at Shigaraki with this stupid, fond smile of his.

“What do you mean by this? It’s clear why not-”

“It is not , Tomura. It’s not like I banned you from helping around the house, not only would it take away some work from me, but maybe it would also help you to feel more.. normal, I guess? You don’t have to be a villain 24/7, here you can be a nerdy, awkward 20 year old guy who has no idea what to do with his life. I won’t judge you. On the contrary, I’d be more than happy if you felt comfortable here.”

“I’m not nerdy, nor awkward.” Shigaraki argued, trying to nullify all of the nice things Natsuo has said just now.

“You literally named your little villains club after some game for losers, be for real-”

“Oh let me show you a real loser-”
