Work Text:
Prompt: Jealousy
Technically Peter and Elias had an open marriage, it made sense because Peter mostly spent half the year at sea. So neither expected the other to go without sex. Mostly they just had casual relationships or one night stands, sometimes even paying for it. Neither one cared about that at all, as long it was kept casual it didn’t matter. As long as the other person was disease free, drama free and didn’t serve another fear it was fine.
Peter told himself this, it wasn’t like he was even faithful in that regard. However he had just returned home from sea, and was expecting Elias to at least text him, but it was a Friday afternoon and Elias was probably still working. Of course he was, Peter told himself. He decided to go to the flat he shared with Elias.
Their flat didn’t feel right, the cat greeted him, and he told himself Elias would be there after work. So he sat and waited… the flat felt odd, there was something off. First of all on a coat hook there was a designer scarf that Peter didn’t recognize, it wasn’t in Elias’s colors and it didn’t smell like Elias’ s cologne, in the bathroom his toothbrush was gone and there was another toothbrush next to Elias’s, also new shampoo in the shower and soap.
Who the fuck had been sleeping here with Elias?
He checked the kitchen and found there was a mug that they didn’t own. The sassy message in cursive adorning it was not their taste.
Who the hell did Elias have over in HIS flat?
Whatever this was, it was more than a causal arrangement it was getting domestic.
Peter did not like that.
His phone buzzed. It was Elias texting him back some excuse about having to work late.
Elias was of course lying, Peter decided.
So waited and followed Elias silently, he watched as Elias left work and went to that little bistro he liked.
He watched from across the street, through a window.
He watched as Elias went to a table where a handsome young man was sitting and leaning over Elias kissed the young man. Peter felt jealousy rise him hot and horrid.
Elias and the young man sat, held hands over the table. He watched as they ate, and laughed together, smiling and content. Peter was almost incandescent with silent cold rage. He’d show them, he’d change the locks, he’d divorce Elias for real, he’d stop giving money to the institute… He would definitely punish that young man. That jumped up, trifling, slutty little twink, coming in and taking HIS Elias. How dare he! Elias was his!
He stuffed down the feeling letting the rage and jealousy brew inside him.
The meal was over, the young man got up leaving Elias to settle the check.
Peter crossed the street, there was an alleyway near the bistro, Peter waited.
The young man stepped into the alley to smoke a cigarette and Peter came up behind him covering him in fog.
“He doesn’t love you…” Peter whispered.
The young man began to cry: “I know but I wish he did, maybe he will…”
“He doesn’t though…” Peter said.
The young man took a drag on his cigarette. “—I just want him to open up. I can’t be alone like this…”
“But you are alone, so very alone.” Peter said and gave a slight push sending the young man into the lonely.
Peter smiled as the fog engulfed the young man and the lonely swallowed him.
Peter felt better after he turned around and saw Elias leaning against the entrance of the alleyway smirking.
“Thank goodness, Peter, he was getting clingy and annoying,” Elias said.
“Why didn’t you end it with him?” Peter asked.
“Mainly because he had no gag reflex and you weren’t around,” Elias said, examining his nails.
“Ah,” Peter sighed. “Well I am now, Luv.”
Elias went up to Peter and put his arm in Peter’s.
“Yes you are darling,” Elias sighed. “Now you want to get dessert?”
Peter thought: “So you knew I’d show up and instead of dumping him, you let me feed him to the Lonely.”
Elias blinked: “Yes. Is that a problem?”
Peter grinned: “No, now about that dessert?”
They walked out of the alley arm in arm.
