Flowers Turn Into Confetti

Summary:

Dick and Roy take their kids, Peter and Lian, to an amusement park. Jason comes along because why not?

Inspired by that one WEBTOON episode in Wayne Family Adventures: EP. 108 There Can Only Be One.

Notes:

I apologize it took away for me to upload something. The writing process has been slow.

I also have a job now! Yay! I start this Monday! I’m so happy!

The only warning I have is that there is cursing.

That’s it!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Peter, Lian, please stay close to us.” Dick calls out to the two 4-year-old toddlers, who were four feet away from him, and the other two men with him. Roy and Jason.

The children stop and look around at all the rides and games, their faces full of wonder and excitement.

“I wanna play the hoop game!” Lian exclaims at she points at the ring toss stand.

“I wanna ride the roller coaster!” Peter points at a kiddie coaster, the cars were shaped like dragons. The track was decently sized with a few twist and turns.

“I’ll teach you how to win the ring toss game.” Dick says to the young girl.

“I’m gonna win Lian the most prizes.” Jason calls out following after the pair.

Roy just sighs and shakes his head. “Let’s go ride that dragon ride, Pete.” The red head is more into riding amusement rides then playing carnival games. His daughter wasn’t into any of the exciting attractions, most rides scare the poor girl. So he could always rely on his nephew to be his partner in their adventurous quest.

“How many toys do you think dad and uncle Jay will win?” Peter asks holding the man’s hand.

“I hope not to many.” Roy laughs. “Lian has too many toys already.”

___

“Pete, please.” Roy practically sobs out. “I can’t ride mouse trap anymore. My poor heart…”

“You scared of a kiddie coaster?” Jason mocks holding some stuff animals.

“Mouse trap is not a ride for little kids!” The red head argues. “It feels like you’re going to fall off at every turn, man.”

The skunk haired man just laughs.

“Go ride it.” Roy challenged. “I dare you.”

Jason just grins. “Oh, I’m going to prove you so wrong.” He shoves the plushies to Roy and grabs Pete’s hand. “Let’s go, little man.” The young boy follows his uncle happily.

Dick and Lian walk up yo the sighing red head. “I thought there wasn’t going to be a no uncle competition today?” Roy questions with a raised brow.

“Jason already has Peter, I wanna be the favorite uncle!” Dick whines out as the tiny girl next to him giggles into her hand.

The red head smiles and rolls his eyes. “Can we calm it down on the prizes? My daughter’s room is going to be filled floor to ceiling with stuff animals.”

The raven haired girl whines.

“How about we do face painting when Jason and Peter are done?” Dick suggests.

Roy nods in satisfaction.

“OH SHIT!” They hear Jason scream in terror. “WE’RE GONNA FALL- PETER HOLD ON!”

They could hear Peter’s musical laughter at his uncle’s frightful shouts.

___

The group gets their faces painted.

Dick gets an elephant on his face as he tells the story about knowing an Elephant named Zikta back when he was in the circus.

Lian got a scorpion painted on her face.

Peter got his whole face painted as a tiger.

Jason and Roy got matching fire stencil spay tattoos on their shoulders.

___

The group sat down to rest and eat some food.

Peter took this time as a moment to reflect back on the day as he ate his hotdog.

Back in his old life as Peter Parker, his aunt and uncle couldn’t afford a lot of things. Especially being able to do fun things like going to amusement parks or going to museums. Sometimes they could afford to go out to the movies!

Peter has bits and pieces of coming to Cooney Island with his parents when he was still a Parker.

He’s glad the universe, or actually this alternate universe, took pity on him and let him be born into a rich family.

He still isn’t exactly use to it, but it’s nice to be able to eat as much food as he likes and not have to worry about sleeping with out a heater because they couldn’t afford the bill that month when winter comes.

“You okay there, Pete?” Dick asks his son. “You’re being awfully quiet.”

“Yeah,” The boy nods. “Just thinking.”

“About what?”

“About today.” Peter answered.

Dick hums softly. “Processing the day?”

The boy nods his head. “Getting tired.”

“You think you can hold out for the magic show or do you want to go home now?” Peter appreciates his father giving him choices, makes him feel like his feelings matter.

Peter and Lian wanted to see the magic show that doesn’t start for another hour.

“I wanna see the show.” The boy says softly.

Dock smiles and rubs his kids back in soothing circles.

___

Roy wanted to go inside a fun house.

Peter kept running through the mirror maze, knocking himself into a mirror at times.

“Bug! Slow down!” His father kept shouting.

Jason laughed at his redhead friend’s reflection in one of the silly mirrors that made him look fat.

“At least I don’t have a big ass head!” Roy laughs as he points at a mirror that reflexed the skunk hair’s head larger than the sun.

Lian liked the slide the fun house had.

___

The magic show was about to begin, the adults thought it would be a great way to end the day.

Jason held all the stuff toys he and his brother won for the little girl. Roy and Lian held hands as the walk together. Dick held Peter as the boy lays his head on his father’s shoulder. Poor kid barely made it to the magic show with all the excitement the day had the offer. The man didn’t mind that his son’s face paint is getting on his shirt.

The show took place outside, a small staged tucked in the corner of the park. The small group got there a little early to take the few benches that weren’t occupied.

After a few moments of waiting the show begins.

The magic show consisted of different magicians preforming their tricks.

For the three heroes this wasn’t anything impressive for them, being around real magic users will do that to you. The performers showed off simple tricks that wowed kids and some adults alike.

Then a teen walks up on stage, everyone (mostly the adults) were curious to see what the young man had up his sleeve.

What he pulls out of his sleeve is a bouquet of flowers, specially a round bridal bouquet. Barbara and Dick were never engaged, but he remembers talking about what kind of wedding they might of had. He remembers his former girlfriend wanting a round bridal bouquet. The memory made the man frown a bit.

The bouquet the young teen held had roses, carnations, and peonies. It was impressive for the teen to whip out a thick assortment of flowers.

The teen gets ready to throw the flowers to the audience, which gets the crowd excited. The boy makes a fast movement that makes the flowers turn into color confetti.

Lian cheers and awes at the multicolored pieces of paper that fall around. Peter comfortably sleeps on his father’s shoulder.

The young magician pulls out a baseball size red ball out from his sleeve, like he did with the bouquet. He carefully shows it to the audience. He tosses it into the air, suddenly there were two balls instead of one. He catches one in each hand. He throws one ball up in the air, making a new one appear, now he has three red balls. He began to juggle all the balls. As he tosses them, more began to appear, then they began to change colors right before the crowds eyes.

The teen ends the trick by catching all the balls, he shows the audience he only has one red ball as all the other ones disappeared.

The crowd cheers with amazement.

“That kid has to be a magic user.” Jason whispered to his brother. Dick only nods in agreement.

___

After the show, the magicians had a small meet and greet. You can talk to you favorite magician or watch them put on a small performance.

The group went up to the teen magician as he finished talking to a family.

“Kid, you put on an awesome performance!” Roy complimented.

“Thank you,” the kid bows as he takes off his top hat. “I really try my best.” He stands back up straight.

“Your performance was the best!” Jason chimes in. “Say kid, you wouldn’t happen to actually have magical powers, right?” The taller man smirks. “We promise we won’t turn you over to the government if you do.”

Dick could see what his brother was doing. The question may seem simple enough, but they might be able to tell by the kids body language or facial expression if he’s truly a magic user or just a talented illusionist.

The kid’s posture looked relaxed as he laughs at Jason’s words. “Man I wish!” The teen exclaims. “If I did have powers, I would use it to make money so I wouldn’t have a job.”

The adult men laugh at the teens sense of humor.

The teen kneels down to Lian. “The only money I can make appear,” he reached behind the young girl’s ear and pulls out a quarter. “Is pulling coins out of people’s ear.”

The young girl looks surprised. “Where did that come from?!”

“It was in your earwax.” The teen teases her.

“I don’t have earwax!” Lian pouts. The three adults laughed.

“Sorry, sorry,” the teen was still holding his top at. “How about I give you a little apology gift.”

“See my hat?” The teen stands up and shows the group his hat. “There’s nothing inside.” He shows them that the hat is indeed empty. He even flipped it back over to give it a shake to show nothing was truly hiding in the headwear.

“But when I put my hand in,” the flipped it back over and put his hand inside. “A little bunny comes out!” He pulls out a small plush white bunny from his hat.

“For you, young lady.” The teen hands Lian the toy.

“It’s mine?” She asks happily. The magician smiles and nods.

“Thank you so much!” The girl exclaimed.

“You’re very welcome.”

“Too bad, Peter’s sleeping.” Dick says rubbing his son’s back. “He would of loved seeing this.”

Their was a slight shift in the teen’s features that is unreadable. “Hmm, I knew someone named Peter. I haven’t heard that name in a while.” He says, he almost sounded like he was reminiscing.

“Peter’s my cousin!” Lian says. “He likes spiders for some reason.”

The magician laughs. “What a weird coincidence, the Peter I knew likes spiders too.” The teen smirks. “Must be a Peter thing.”

“My middle name is Peter,” Jason starts. “And I can tell you without a doubt that is not a Peter thing. I hate spiders.”

The group laughs.

“I don’t have any spider toys,” the teen says and reaches behind Dicks ear and pulls out another small bear toy that’s yellow. “He can have a this little guy.”

“Thank you,” Dick says taking the toy. “My son will love it.”

“What’s your name kid?” Roy questions.

The teen smiles. “Quentin.”

“Well Quentin, you put on an amazing performance.” Roy says and hands him a 20 dollar bill.

Jason and Dick also tipped the teen.

“Hope to see you guys again!” Quentin says.

“You will!” Jason shouts back as the walked away.

___

“Today was fun.” Jason says putting the stuffed animals in Roy’s car.

“Yeah, I’m happy I don’t have a mountain of toys to take home.” The redhead says as he puts Lian in her car seat.

“Let’s do another play date soon.” Dick says, still holding a sleeping Peter. “I was thinking of putting Peter in swim lessons, maybe we can put Lian in the same class with him.”

“Are you having trouble teaching the kid to swim?” Roy asks.

“Kinda,” the raven sighs out. “Pete is actually scared of the water for some reason. I thought maybe some swimming class could help with his fear.”

The red head nods. “I see. Lian might like swimming classes. Send me the school details later, okay?”

___

A few days go by, Dick contacted Zatanna about the magician named Quentin he saw at the amusement park.

He still wasn’t sure if the teen is a magic user or not. If he is one, it’s not safe for a kid to have powers like that. Even if he was only using them to as entertainment. If he’s untrained, he could accidentally injure someone on accident.

Zatanna finally got back to Dick, she went by the amusement park and watched one of the performances. The magician didn’t sense any magic on Quentin. The kid is just really good at illusions and holding an audience’s attention.

The kid really did have talent. Good for him.

Now Dick can focus on finding a good swim school for Peter and Lian to take.

Notes:

So… Quentin will enter the roster. He’s been planned to come in from the very beginning.

I actually have a draft of Peter and Beck finally meeting before I ever even published the very first story for the series.

But will he be friend or foe?

Also, follow My Tumblr I post polls for you guys to vote for what happens for the story.

This weeks poll is if you want Jason to be uncle Ben or not.

The poll is ending soon! So go vote!
