Chapter 1: Waking In The Hospital Feeling Like Shit

Chapter Text

When Quentin Beck first woke up, I thought he survived being shot by one of his drones.

That meant him and his team couldn’t frame Peter for murder, maybe he could say the kid tried to kill him. Frame him for attempting murder.

He then realized his mom was sitting next to him.

Wait…

Mom…?

His mom died when he was in college from cancer. So how is she here? Looking healthy as ever, with her long brown locks that framed her face. Tears fell from her face as she smiled at him.

“Oh baby,” she sobs holding his hand with one hand as she gently pushes back his bangs with the other. “I’m so happy you’re awake…”

“Wha…” Beck’s voice sounded higher than normal.

What?

“What happened?” He asks softly. Yeah his voice felt like he gasped in helium.

“You were in an accident, baby.” She starts softly. “You were driving back home with dad. You guys were coming back from a fishing trip. You… you two were almost home… but… BlockBuster was attacking the city. He grabbed the car, that you both were in, and threw it at Nightwing. It was aweful… dad didn’t make it…” his mother sobs out.

Quentin felt so confused. He never knew his father, he ran off while his mom was pregnant with him. Blockbuster? Nightwing? Who are those guys. He’s never heard of them before.

“Thankfully, Blockbuster was killed…
He can’t hurt anyone anymore.” His mother says.

Beck could only stare at his mother.

Quentin has been discharged from the hospital, he took his recovery time to research what is going one.

All he knew so far is that he’s 11 years old again back in the United States.

Quentin sat at his late father’s computer.

Let the search begin.

Current location?

Blüdhaven, New Jersey.

Blüdhaven? Who named the city that?

Blüdhaven is the sister city to Gotham, New Jersey. The city is home to few vilgilantes, the most notable one being Nightwing.

Nightwing

Nightwing is a vilgilante that operates in Blüdhaven. He is known to also patrol in Gotham. Being one of Batman’s team members.

He’s never heard of this hero before. He knows all the members of the Avengers.

Beck looks at pictures of the blue and black vilgilante in action. This man has a nice build to his figure, his skin tight suit highlighting the important details. There were a lot of shots of the man’s ass.

Quentin is getting a strange sense of deja vu looking at the hero…

Oh yeah, Spider-Man.

Skin tight suit, protects a city, flexible in fighting, likes to do tricks in the air. Sounds like the kid.

But Nightwing only wore a domino mask, while Peter wore a mask that covers his whole face.

Nightwing has black hair. Peter has brown.

Tony Stark

Quentin got a few results of Facebook accounts with the same name, but none of them were that asshole everyone knows and loves.

Iron Man?

Do you mean The Iron Giant?

No, he did not mean that at all.

Stark Industries?

No results.

What?

Avengers

No results

Captain America

No results

Thor

It only gave him the Norse mythology of Thor, not the hero from the Avengers.

What is happening here…?

By the end of his search, Quentin Beck came to the conclusion that he died and thrown into an alternate universe.

An alternate universe where the Avengers didn’t exist, where Tony Stark didn’t exist, not even the spider kid is here.

Instead of the Avengers, there was the Justice League. There were hero’s he knows doesn’t exist in his world. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, Green Arrow to name the few.

Did the universe take pity on Quentin and give him a second chance?

Quentin began to enjoy his new life, it felt a lot like his old one. Nonetheless, he loves having his mom around, hopeful he doesn’t lose her so soon this time.

He practiced his illusion tricks, he wanted to be a performer or a special effects artist before he switched to making technology.

He began to develop his projection technology. Since he has no money as a kid, I’ll have to be on a small scale. He was able to find cheap drones and some projecting toys and was able to make a mock up of his illusion projectors.

After a few years of practice and constantly upgrading his drones, he got good enough to land him a job at the amusement park at the age of 15. The interviewers were impressed with his skills and talent. They normally don’t hire teenagers for this role, but they couldn’t pass it up.

Quentin quite liked putting on a show and wowing people with his tricks. He was given toys that stayed on displayed on prize racks at different game booths to give out to kids. Helps with the engagement.

He was having a good night, the crowds cheered him on, he got so many tips. This gig made him a decent amount of money for a teenager.

A small group of three adult men and two small children came up to him. After he gave her the toy bunny, as one of the men that was holding a sleeping toddler said, “Too bad, Peter’s sleeping. He would have loved seeing this.”

Quentin stopped as he felt himself shift in a way.

Peter, haven’t heard that name in a while.

He looks at the sleeping toddler, who was resting his face on who he assumes is the boy’s father’s shoulders. He couldn’t see the child’s face that much, he did see a pop of color. Must be face paint.

Over the last few years, Beck had some time to reflect a bit on the situation he put Peter Parker through in Europe. The former adult was fueled with anger over Tony Stark screwing him over, stealing his life’s work, and calling it B.A.R.F.

Did Peter Parker deserve to be in Quentin Beck’s war path of lies and deception. No. The kid was an obstacle that kept him away from E.D.I.T.H.

If the kid didn’t have the glasses, Beck wouldn’t have lied and tormented him. If the kid wasn’t so smart he would of gotten away with his plans. He never wanted to kill Peter or his friends. They we’re kids after all, but he couldn’t let everything he and his team worked so hard for go down the drain.

Part of him felt some sort of guilt. He was Quentin, living a second chance at life. While Peter Parker was most likely in prison for falsely killing Mysterio.

“Hmm, I knew someone named Peter. I haven’t heard that name in a while.” Beck states.

“Peter’s my cousin!” The little girl says. “He likes spiders for some reason.”

Quentin let out a surprised laugh.

No way.

“What a weird coincidence, the Peter I knew likes spiders too.” The teen couldn’t help but smirk as he glances at the sleeping boy. “Must be a Peter thing.”

Did Peter Parker like spiders? He is Spider-Man after all.

“My middle name is Peter,” the taller man, that was rocking black and white hair starts. “And I can tell you without a doubt that is not a Peter thing. I hate spiders.”

The group laughs, Beck couldn’t help but laugh with them.

“I don’t have any spider toys,” the teen says and reaches behind the dad’s ear and pulls out another small bear toy that’s yellow. “He can have a this little guy.”

“Thank you,” the man says taking the toy with a smile. “My son will love it.”

“What’s your name kid?” The redhead guy questions.

The teen smiles. “Quentin.”

As soon as Quentin got home, he hopped on his laptop and searched up Peter Parker.

There were many results, Facebook profiles and LinkedIn accounts with the name, but none of them were the kid he once knew.

Then again, the Peter he “met” is a toddler. He’s mentally kicking himself not getting a name of the kid’s father.

Quentin found himself at the convenient store, buying a few items like dish soap and snacks. At 24, the man always made sure his mother is taken care of. So far there was no sign of cancer for her. He always convinces her to get regular check ups.

He attends college, majoring in engineering and minoring in theater. He has a part time internship at Wayne Enterprise.

It’s a hassle to commute from Blüdheaven to Gotham every other day, but he’s not living in that chaotic city. No matter how cheap the rent is there!

Beck never cared about the social lives of the elites in the city. Of course he knows a bit about them, like Bruce Wayne who’s a billionaire who likes to adopt kids. He knows one of his adopted kids is the CEO of where he interns at. Tim Drake, he remembers his name.

There is Richie Grayson who’s trying to make Blüdhaven better. Like Quentin could trust a guy who used to be a playboy and has a kid or two. Never really cared about what his kid dose.

Until this exact moment.

Beck stares at a magazine in the book aisle, the the front cover showed Grayson hugging a boy that looked very familiar. With the headline reading: “RICHIE CELEBRATES HIS SON’S 13TH BIRTHDAY!

The kid has familiar brown hair and brown eyes. This kid… looks just like…

The man drops his shopping basket, grabs the magazine, flipping the pages to find the the article he wants to read.

Richie Grayson celebrated his son, Peter John Grayson’s 13th birthday last weekend!

Peter…

“No fucking way…” he mumbles to himself as he looks at a picture of the boy in question.

This is Peter Parker, or the alternate universe of him. The resemblance is too great to not be him.

But the question is, is it the Peter he knows. If yes, know is he here.

Tony Stark doesn’t exist.

Stark Industries doesn’t exist.

Iron Man doesn’t exist.

The avengers doesn’t exist.

But Peter Parker exist in this world, that would also mean Spider-Man may exist soon as well.

If memory serves Beck right, Peter Parker became Spider-Man at 14. He got his abilities from a spider bite on a school field trip. Dead parents, no siblings, lives with his aunt.

Peter Grayson has a living father, mother is unknown according to the boy’s Wikipedia page. Has a stepmother and a baby sister on the way. Kid has a shit ton of uncles and an aunt. A rich grandfather on top of that. The kid lived an easy privileged life, far from his former one.

Quentin is mentally kicking himself, how on earth did he not know the kid existed here? His family is wealthy and powerful. He remembers hearing that Richie likes to keep his son’s life private, most likely wanting him to have a normal childhood. He believes this mostly because there aren’t a lot of pictures of the young Grayson. (He later found out there’s a local law that made it illegal to take pictures of the kid without his consent)

Again, is this Peter Parker? Beck could just wait and see if Spider-Man makes his debut. That would confirm who the boy is, but it could also be an alternate version of the kid. A version of Peter that has no clue about the other universe. The universe that Quentin came from.

He needs to track the kid down. The man wasn’t high enough on the corporate latter to be invited to company parties the whole Wayne family attends.

Maybe his grandfather and uncle brings him to Wayne Enterprise. It would make sense if the kid is interested in technology, like he was back in their old universe? If so they might not take him to the lab that Quentin is in, he works on smaller tech, like phones. His uncle and grandfather would take him to the labs with more impressive stuff.

The man groans and rubs his face. What is he even thinking? Tracking down a kid? What is he? A creep?

Some time passes, around three months or so, and Beck hasn’t forgotten about Peter. He’s not exactly sure what to do about the whole situation.

Part of him wants find the kid and see if his suspicions are correct, another part of him wants to ignore this whole thing and hope he eventually forgets about this.

Quentin decides to take a stroll around the city, clear his mind a bit.

Blüdhaven isn’t the best place to take a stroll but he needed to move around to clear his head a bit. He’s been so out of it lately. Lost in his thoughts, his mother and co-workers alike are beginning to worry about him.

They have every right to be concerned, Beck wasn’t clearly paying attention to his surroundings. Which caused him to walk himself into a lamppost.

Quentin hissed out in pain, taking most of the impact to his forehead.

“Hey mister!” A young voice calls out. “Are you alright?” Quentin could hear fast footsteps approach him.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m okay.” Beck rubs his forehead and turns to the person talking to him. “I’ll probably have a bump…” he trails off as he sees the person before him. A young teen with brown eyes that expanded widely into his brown locks as he stares at him, almost in complete shock.

Oh shit, it’s Peter.

Quentin stares at the kid. Just as shocked as the boy. They both were unmoving.

“You’re Peter Parker, right?” He asks.

He watched as the boy’s eyes quickly changed from surprise to hatred, his face darkens.

Oh it’s him.

“No way.” The boy says lowly. “Beck?”

It’s really him.

Quentin couldn’t help but smirk.

“It’s good to see you again, kid.”
