Notes:

Hi! This is my first fic that I have written on here and first fic after 6 years...So please do not judge on how poorly this was done. I just wanted to write this fic for a friend for her birthday but let me know if I should write more fanfics in different fandoms too T^T

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Stanford has been working on this portal for a couple of months now and is so close to finishing it. He can’t wait for all the waiting and putting it together so much that eating and resting does not come across his mind. He doesn’t care for such simple things that take time out of his day that could’ve been spent working on his journals.

    “Six-”

If only he can get couple of more paragraphs in-

“Sixer!” Stanford snaps back into reality. He looks up from his journal to see Bill with his arms crossed.

“Can you hear me now, Sixer? I’ve been calling your name for the past 10 minutes.”

Bill had an irked tone when he spoke as he was annoyed at the fact that Stanford took so long to reply to him. He was happy to see that Stanford is doing his work to finish the portal but not listening to Bill when talking to him made him a bit irritated. This is a new feeling for Bill, usually not the one to get so annoyed so quickly. Maybe with the portal being close to being finished the anxiety and excitedness that his emotions are getting on a loose grip.

“Ah, Bill, I didn’t hear you calling my name,” Stanford says, scratching his head with the pencil he has in his hand. “You are stating the obvious,” Bill rolled his singular eye but just sighs. He floats over to Stanford, peeking over his shoulder to see the work that has been done so far. The messy handwriting that is somehow still legible to read with paper and coffee stains scattered all over the table. “Wow sixer, you have a whole mess on your desk, how can you even see what you are doing?” Bill is amused with how Stanford is able to work on the portal despite the big mess that he is in.

“I..- It’s not a mess, being able to have an environment that I can work in even if it's messy gives me the motivation to keep going.”

Stanford tries to organize the mess he has on his desk but to no avail only makes it worse by scattering it all over the place and onto the already messy floor. He just sighs at the failed clean up and scoot his chair forward to continue working on the papers for the portal. Bill looks at Stanford then at the half finish portal on his right, contemplating. As much as Bill wants this portal to be finished already, seeing Stanford in the state he is in makes him feel…weird. Of course weirdness is good in his books but this is a different type of weird that Bill hasn't really felt before. Having Stanford not taking breaks and being overworked made Bill come to some realization that without Stanford; he felt lonely. Now, to Bill, that kind of thought is ridiculous. He can always find someone else to complete the portal for him if Stanford were to fail but…it leaves some type of sad feeling. Bill does not know how to describe the feeling that he feels but right now all he knows is to make Stanford to take a break for today. Snapping out of his thoughts, Bill looks directly at Stanford to see he hasn’t moved from his spot when first seeing him.

Bill gave it some thought but decided it is for the best for the both of them. He transforms into his human form. This form allows him to be hidden amongst humans but also helps to understand all the fun stuff that humans can and can’t do. Stretching out his limbs, Bill sees a small mirror in the corner. A tall man with a simple attire of a yellow suit with a golden locket with a clock when unlocked. He adjusts his hat and eye patch showing off his earrings and crooked smile. Bill walks quietly towards Stanford reaching behind him to grab onto his neck gently, pulling Stanford head back to face him. Stanford is stunned, feeling Bill’s hands softly pulling on him and coming to realize how captivating Bill really is in his human form. His skin is a warm chestnut tone, reminding Stanford of autumn leaves beneath the soft afternoon sun. Dark hair kissing Stanford’s skin with a slight coldness due to some charms falling forward slightly.

Stanford stays still, searching Bill’s facial features, being enchanted by his looks. Bill leans forward putting his forehead onto Stanford’s. This gesture gave warmth to Stanford, closing his eyes, forgetting his work that he put on pause. He suddenly felt a jolt and a pull causing him to open his eyes quickly. Stanford sees his body in a 3rd perspective, looking down on his hands noticing a transparent blue hue on him. He looks up to see Bill took over his body.

“Wow sixer! This body feels like it's about to crash any minute now,” Bill exclaims, cracking Stanford's fingers.

“Bill! You can’t just do that out of nowhere,” says Stanford in a dumbfounded tone.

“Would you even take a break if you were told to? I can see that you didn’t even take a break to eat food or to rest. No wonder why you look like you've seen death, you are basically there.” Bill spins the chair around with his arms crossed. “You can get some rest now, sixer. I’ll take over your body for now until you are ready to get back to work.”

“I am ready to get back to work, I need to get his portal finished soon.” Stanford feels impatient. He was close to finishing and now Bill is messing around, taking over his body.

“How are you going to finish the portal if you overwork yourself to death? Might as well just get it over with it now,” Bill shrugged and crossed his legs. Stanford scoffs, “We are so close to getting it finished and now out of all times, you want to start messing around.” The chair that Bill was in was now on the floor. He stood up and was upset that Stanford didn't understand that his body was really breaking down.

“Ugh, like I just said, you won’t listen. Don’t worry about the portal for now; I can handle the rest. Just lay down and relax, sixer.” It was quite the irony to see Bill and Stanford’s body telling Stanford himself to take a break. Stanford had enough arguing with the triangle and continued to groan and scoff, looking away from Bill. “Whatever, if you insist the portal doesn't need to be finished soon, I won’t work on it right now,” Stanford says. Frustrated, Stanford left the basement and went up to his room to lay down on his springy bed.. His mind racing with thoughts and all the ways on how to improve the portal but laying down is causing his eyes to close against his own will. Fighting against the tiredness he would keep thinking and…thinking and…thinking…

Till he didn’t win the fight.

Stanford woke up in his own actual body, feeling better and not feeling like at death’s doorstep. He yawns and gets up to only find himself trapped underneath someone’s arm. Stanford looks to his side to see Bill in his human form peacefully sleeping next to him. He lays back down and faces him anazlying all the features closely.

“Quite not bad for being a triangle…” Stanford mumbles to himself. Bill groans and brings Stanford closer to him. Giving him a strong hug and not letting go.

“Enough talking, go back to sleep more,” Bill says on top of Stanford’s head. Stanford sighs and gives in to Bill’s grasp. Maybe…just maybe…Bill is more thoughtful than he thought.
