A Demoness and a Qing Jing Disciple Walk Into a Cave...

Summary:

In the distance was a cave where the Qing Jing peak disciple figured the demon was hiding in. She sheathed her sword and put a hand to her chin.

“Alright so we need to plan-”

“DIE YOU DEMON!” Sha Hualing ran straight for the cave as Ning Yingying spoke.

What was it that Shizun says when Shang shishu came for a visit? Ah yes. That Fucking idiot.

Notes:

Ah so the hiatus... I gave birth? Hahaaaaaaaaaaaaaa I fell into the ao3 curse.

Work Text:

~Ning Yingying hated her life.

Why couldn’t things go back to when she was a ditzy teenager who had a massive crush on Luo Binghe?

Though her feelings on him have changed significantly and getting “the talk” from Shizun about how it’s ok to like girls when you’re a girl and vise versa she still longed for those days.

Now, she was on a joint mission with Binghe’s second in command, Sha Hualing to kill the Red Thread Weaver because apparently she’s been binding people together everywhere and it’s bringing people trouble to both the demon and human realms!

Did her Shidi forget this was the same demon who was the indirect reason their Shizun (and A-Luo’s now husband!) got cursed with Without a Cure?! What happened to death by sword huh? If anyone deserved it, it was her!

“Slow down! I’m gonna throw up!” Sha Hualing yelled from behind. She was also pointedly not gripping Ning Yingying’s waist. If the red demoness fell she’ll tell Shizun it was an accident with a straight face.

To make matters worse, Shang Shishu’s husband couldn’t even make a portal to the lair of the Red Thread Weaver’s because she’s used her ability to weave invisibility threads to hide her location! Now Ning Yingying was stuck on relying on the townsfolk to get to her location which meant the fastest transportation besides portal travel was sword travel.

This wasn’t a big deal for Ning Yingying but for Sha Hualing…

“If I go any slower we’ll fall! Not all of us have demon blood to prevent us from dying!” Ning Yingying bites back. The only good thing today was the weather because if it was raining, she would have had to manage a rain talisman, flying, and an annoying demoness.

“Please!“ Sha Hualing scoffs. “You cultivators aren’t so humble ok? I’ve seen Junshang fall from heights higher than this and live! Isn’t he also half mortal?”

Yes, but not all of us are A-Luo! Ning Yingying decided to hold her tongue. If she had to be the mature one between the two then she would be,

It took a few hours but they eventually reached where it was rumored the demon’s lair was.

The Red Thread Weaver used her threads to tie two people together. According to Shizun, it was essentially ‘killing two birds with one stone’ since the people tied together would have to work together to run.

So all Ning Yingying and Sha Hualing had to do was not get tied by the thread! Easy enough right?

Wrong.

The latter didn’t know whether to laugh or cry.

What was it that Shizun says when Shang shishu came for a visit? Ah yes. That Fucking idiot.

“Come back!” Ning Yingying trailed after her inside the looming cave. After activating a light talisman, she looked around to the familiar sight of blood smears on the walls.

“Is it really that hard for people to work together?” She said to herself when she heard a scream.

“Ugh! I told her we should plan!” Ning Yingying

ran towards the sound and saw Sha Hualing’s left ring finger tied with a red finger. In front of her was a demon over thirty feet tall, Her fingers looked like spider legs and they were all weaved together with threads. Her teeth were sharp like a shark’s.

Ning Yingying wasn’t sure what this demon was originated from. A wolf? A shark? Or a spider? Or something else completely different?

Either way, the Red Thread Weaver’s teeth shone in the cave.

“Oh perfect! A partner for the demoness!” She giggled.

“I’ll have you know I’m the daughter of-”

“Oh hush you.” Red Thread Weaver waved her hand and the other side of the thread tied onto Ning Yingying’s ring finger as well.

Great.

Just great!

Ming Fan was gonna get the rant when she gets home.

She tried to cut the thread with her sword but what was this thing even made of?! She just sharpened her sword before the journey!

“I already tried my nails on it. It’s not budging.” Sha Hualing huffs.

“It’s your fault we’re here in the first place! If only you waited just a split second I would have made a plan-” As Ning Yingying ranted, the opposing demon raised an eyebrow.

“Oho? I captured a couple?” She cooed licking her lips. “How tasty.”

“We’re not a couple!” The two said in unison and -hold on, was Ning Yingying seeing this correctly?!- was Sha Hulaing blushing?!

Red Thread waved her right hand off, the threads on her fingers stretched and tightened.

“Well, whatever, it's still a meal to me nonetheless.” She grabbed the thread from the center and lifted the two girls. Ning Yingying bit her lip in order not to shout in pain for her poor ring finger and by the look of Sha Hualing she was doing the same thing.

Well too bad for this demon, Ning Yingying wasn’t being food today!

She pulled out her sword and tried to attack the demon but Red Thread Weaver was faster, holding her sword in place.

“It’ll take more than that, cultivator.” She grinned, but in the corner of Ning Yingying’s eyes, she saw Sha Hualing getting her nails ready to attack and she aimed right for the demoness’ stomach-

The Red Thread Demon’s blood joined the art on the cave.

The two fell with no ceremony and She Hualing dusted herself off.

“Well that was anticlimactic.” She huffs. Ning Yingying still didn’t unsheathe her sword as there was still one problem.

The thread was still tied onto their fingers!

Shen Qingqiu tried to stifle a laugh behind his fan. There was a reason why he didn't want to go on this mission with Airplane!

Ning Yingying and Sha Hualing stood together with the red thread tied onto their fingers.

“Shizun! I thought you said if we get tied it would dissipate when we killed her!” His second favorite student pouted.

To be fair, Shen Qingqiu thought they would be good enough not to get tied up. That's why he lied about that small fact.

The Red Thread Demon was chapter 672 of Proud Immortal Demon Way where the demoness was tying up members of Binghe’s harem together and eating them like an all you could eat buffet.

(In Shen Yuan’s perspective, this demon was perfect in all the senses of all the useless wives were finally killed! Huzzah! Five stars!)

But alas nothing could last forever. When the wife of the week was captured, she and Bingge were eventually tied up just like Sha Hualung and Ning Yingying right here. Luckily, all they had to do was kiss-

Ick, ick, no. Shen Qingqiu couldn’t imagine his only female disciple doing anything of the sort! He was her second (third? Did he count Shen Jiu?) Father damnit!

He cleared his throat.

“This Master is afraid there’s only one solution. The two of you will have to ki-” The word caught in his throat. “Ki-”

God fucking damnit Shen Qingqiu! It’s not like they’re gonna do it in front of you!

“Kiss?” Sha Hualing tilted her head and Ning Yingying fake vomited.

“Ergh! Shizun! No! There has to be another way!”

Unless you want to face the torture of the Heveanly Pillar young lady, this is the best solution!

“No no! Thank you Consort Shen! We’ll get this sorted right away!” Sha Hualing pulled Ning Yingying out of the room immediately and Shen Qingqiu sighed.

Binghe refused to bet with him since he thought that he was the most brilliant person in the world, but Shen Qingqiu owed him money now.

Sha Hualing dragged the other girl outside and Ning Yingying pulled her wrist back.

“What’s your problem?!” She nearly screamed.

“What’s your problem?!” Sha Hualing echoed back in the same tone. Ning Yingying blinked.

“I only asked Junshang to help you in this mission because it's well… you!” Sha Hualing’s face was as red as her clothes.

Ning Yingying blinked again.

“Huh? What about all our arguing? And you not listening to me?”

Unfortunately, Shen Qingqiu’s disciples were just as dense as their master.

“You dumbass! That’s how I talk with everyone! Don’t you know demon courtship! Ugh, Junshang was right!” Sha Hualing did a facepalm and took a deep breath. The trees rustled as a gentle breeze blew.

“I like you! And…” Sha Hualing looked at her bare feet, jingling the bells on her anklet.

“I wouldn't mind… kissing you…”

Now it was Ning Yingying’s turn to turn red.

“R-really?” She peeped out. Sha Hualing held her cheek gently with the same hand that the thread was tied on and she leaned her forehead on hers.

“Yeah.” She whispered.

Wow. Her breath smelled good. Ning Yingying blinked again and it happened so fast.

The red thread dissipated from their ring fingers.

Notes:

Yes, the Red Thread demon was gonna be in Binghe's harem if any of you were curious.
