Summary
Tsukasa Tenma would be escorted to the town square where a crowd, his audience, waited for him. They'd jeer at him as he walked out onto the platform of the scaffold, his stage, but he would not cry for mercy.
His mouth split into a manic grin, “Ah, it is time for my midafternoon repast!”
A few faces in the crowd would gawk at him as if he’d finally gone mad. Laughing at them all, he would take his final bow and kneel down to face the guillotine.
Then, the blade would whistle down at the bell’s third toll.
His head would roll as his penance, and the country could one day return to peace. In the end, its people would live happily once more.
And in time, a day would come where the one known as "The Prince of Pride" would be but a memory placed on a pedestal for all to see, would come, too.
But, that is not this day.
Up in power, ascending to the throne at the death of the Queen, it is Tsukasa's arrogance as the proud-stomached Prince of his kingdom that allows him to smile under the weight of the crown.
But when arrogance shapes into ignorance, the gears of fate can only interlock and begin to shift around, rotating quietly like clockwork.
