“You smell like you picked a fight with an ethanol pump,” he says evenly, eyes entirely too knowing for Buck’s liking.
“Bobby…”
“Your clothes are dirty,” Bobby cuts him off, “your hair is unbrushed, you have eyebags you can see a mile away, and you’re over an hour late.” Buck hangs his head, ashamed and unable to counter back.
“Buck…” Bobby softens, “if there’s something going on…”
Buck scrunches his eyes shut. “I’m fine, Bobby.”
Buck is fine. Really, he is. He's never been better at his job, he’s present in his friend’s daily lives and he thinks he’s finally moving towards building something more with Eddie. He’s fine. Except he’s also, maybe, falling back into old habits, and acquiring new ones in the process. He’s got it under control, though. No one needs to know.
