Chapter 1: first kiss

Chapter Text

After patrol on a thankfully slow night after a very long day, Wade offered to buy Peter dessert to compliment their pre-patrol dinner.

"We're right by a Van Leeuwen and I know your cheap ass hasn't had any ice cream in a while. Unnecessary expense, right?" Wade teased, grabbing Peter's hand and trying to pull him toward the shop with all his strength. His boots scraped against the concrete as he attempted to walk forward.

Peter rolled his eyes behind his mask. "I'm not cheap, I'm broke. There's a difference," he said, resisting Wade without moving.

"Yeah, sure, broke boy. Let's get ice cream please?"

Ten minutes later they were sitting on top of a condo tower in Chelsea, bumping shoulders companionably as they ate. Peter got strawberry, which Wade mocked him relentlessly for to the point where the cashier was trying to hide his laughter, and Wade got sweet potato marshmallow pie, because of course he did.

Wade talked the entire time, hopping topics so quickly Peter couldn't keep up, but he didn't need to. He was exhausted despite their short night and Wade's nonsensical rambling was basically a lullaby to get him ready for bed.

"Thanks for the ice cream, Wade," Peter said eventually, putting his empty paper cup and spoon into Wade's which was already sitting between them. He slowly stood up, brushing the spandex of his ass and thighs to make sure there was no gravel stuck to him, and stretched his arms over his head. "Gonna head home, but I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Mm, sure, sweet thing. Text me," Wade murmured. The top half of his face was hidden by his mask, but his broad, perfect grin was uncovered.

Peter stepped onto the ledge in front of him, feet to either side of Wade's thighs, and leaned down to capture his mouth in a chaste kiss. It only lasted a minute, just long enough for Peter's ice cream cold lips to begin to warm up, before he stood up again and tipped backward off of the rooftop.

"Bye, Wade!" he called, shooting a web at the next closest building and pulling his mask down for the trip home.

It was only after Peter stumbled into his apartment through his bedroom window that he realized he didn't usually kiss Wade goodbye.
