It was because Gi-hun trusted blindly, banging and yelling on the door begging the guards who had killed 455 (-2, at that point) people to please help, that Sang-woo had gotten an opening to kill that girl.
And yet, here he was. Holding a hand out to Sang-woo’s body on the ground, the hand that Sang-woo hadn’t carved a hole into, trying to promise him a future. Despite everything, despite his anger, despite the dead girl, despite the stab wound through his hand, and despite the trust that should be well and truly fucking broken. We don’t need money, Gi-hun was trying to tell him through his offering, if you take my hand, we can make a future. Because despite everything, that was just who Gi-hun was at his core.
