Summary
I was bored as hell the summer before my first year of college. I was mostly friends with those older than me and now they’d all gone and graduated and spread out. So, I didn’t really have much to do outside of AP summer work. I'd take anything to get out of the house at this point.
So, when my dad asked if I'd be willing to work as an aide in the office while they searched for a replacement aide, I agreed enthusiastically.
“You’ll mostly be working under Vice President Kamala Harris,” my dad explained to me. “But the rest of us share another set of aides, and both quit with notice of reasonable causes. We’re looking for another aide as well and two new permanent aide, but you’d really be helping Vice President out.”
I was glad to get out of the house for the summer by helping out at the office as an intern-aide. My first boss, Vice President Kamala Harris, was really nice to me and I felt like I fit into the political life. But things took a different turn when she showed me a very different side of just what kind of a leader she is.
