“Come on, Tess! It's fun!”
Gabby yelled. She was referring to her girlfriend, Tess. She was often shut in, rarely going outside. Truthfully, she didn't really see a point in leaving her home, and that worried Gabby. She cared deeply for her girlfriend, and hated seeing her like this. Tess had been struggling with this.. problem for a long time. It was rare that she had been able to get Tess outside, but she did.
Tess had sighed in response, but her girlfriend's enthusiasm had gotten to her. She had stepped outside, not really used to the sunlight, but she had dealt with it for now. As she stepped outside, she stared at her girlfriend. She was frolicking around in a flower field near their house, motioning for Tess to join her. God, she looked beautiful. She was wearing her usual red sweater, with a white flower in her hair. She always had a way of breaking down Tess’s defensive walls. It was certainly shocking, but Tess was glad to have her.
After a few minutes of admiring the girl, she'd realized that she was probably keeping her waiting. She'd walked over to the girl, who was holding a flower in her hand, casually playing in the field. As Tess approached, Gabby looked up at her.
“Is something wrong? Are you okay?”
Gabby had asked, seemingly concerned by how long she had took. Tess has often expressed apathy when upset, but this was different. She was admiring her. It was hard to tell, as she wasn't exactly the best at expressing feelings. Her life was pretty bad and after a while she began to cope by bottling it all up, and although it wasn't exactly healthy, it was what seemed to keep her going for now.
“I'm fine, don't worry..”
she said, trying to reassure her girlfriend. It was so sweet how much the girl had cared for her, god, was she lucky she had met Gabby. She had a strange way of brightening the day for everyone. Gabby had seemed a bit suspicious, but finally let it slide, handing her the flower. It was pretty, and matched her favorite color.
“It reminded me of you!”
Gabby had said cheerfully, which put a small smile on Tess’s face. She certainly was considerate. She can't believe she has won over someone so amazing.
Tess had always viewed life as pointless, she had nothing left to look forward to until she had met Gabby over the course of Disventure Camp’s end. At first, Tess appeared as a bit harsh. It was something she usually did out of fear of getting hurt again, but Gabby seemed to break those walls down.
How?
How was it that she had won her over so easily? How could she be so.. sweet? Tess wasn't used to this. She was used to being completely alone, and couldn't properly process the affection.
They'd eventually began dating, and Tess couldn't ask for a better partner. She had a crush on Hunter during her season, but he had chosen Ally. She didn't really mind, she was just glad they were happy, even if she had been distanced from them, something that disappointed them all. Gabby had helped her when she was upset. She didn't like when her friends were hurt, and would seemingly do anything to help them feel better.
Tess had been staring at the pretty flower she had given her. It really does suit her. Gabby had always loved nature, so it shouldn't have been a surprise she knew how to pick the perfect one.
“Thank you, Gabby.. for everything.”
Tess had finally responded, she had appreciated the flower alot and it was obvious by her tone, but there was a hint of underlying solemn. Gabby had picked up on it, and she frowned. She knew Tess appreciated the gift, the girl wasn't the type to lie to people like that, so it must have been due to the past. It haunted her horribly, and she still needed her medication to be somewhat stable. Gabby hated seeing her girlfriend in such a depressive state.
The girl sighed.
“You know you can tell me anything, right?”
Gabby reassured. She had suddenly leaned in and hugged Tess, much to the surprise of the other girl. She nodded. She had loved how welcoming her girlfriend was. She was often excitable and was quick to try and cheer the people she loved up, a trait Tess loved about her. She had hugged her back.
“I know.. I'm fine, Gabby.”
She has reassured her, a more genuine sounding tone in her voice. Gabby always had a way of making her feel comfortable. Gabby had pulled back a little, staring into her girlfriend's eyes.
Tess couldn't help but think about her. She was beautiful, even when she didn't try to be. The bow in her hair, a perfect fit, matching with the red sweater she had. She seemed to wear it whenever she could, which was honestly kinda cute. She has admired her for a while longer, before finally speaking again.
“I love you, Gabby.”
Tess had said, she still couldn't help but admire her dark, olive green eyes. Gabby smiled excitably.
“I love you too, Tess!”
She'd respond. Tess had a slight smile on her face, feeling comfortable enough to finally be vulnerable with someone. Her girlfriend seemed to treasure her, as she leaned in and kissed her quickly.
While Tess didn't really love going outside, if it meant she got to be with Gabby, it was fine.
