Chapter Text
✦ 1:27-1:47 ✦ « “ HUMAN BY HAN” »
When the wind blew, a cool breeze danced on my skin, and I felt the world freeze as I stared into your eyes. I see the terror, exhaust, and hopelessness. I know what I must do, yet I am terrified.
“Why are you so kind?” I ask, because that's all I know.
Why do you have mercy when the world was so unforgiving to you? To the others, who have been wronged- Why give them home?
“... Because it's what makes us human.” You answered, weak and labored, as you kept drawing your breath from your blood soaked mouth.
Humanity, at its best, is corrupt. One way or another, the sinfully flawed humans destroy everything around them.
Hypocrisy runs through their veins like how fuel runs a motor. Useless without, and only functional when in possession.
“Human? Is that what you call it? Then, what am I?” I ask, because I know your answer will set my finality.
I am neither human, nor soul, nor shadow, nor even something that should exist.
Yet here I am, lost and wandering, to who I am and what my purpose is.
“Our friend, my confidant in this world that never rests.” You say, as I see your friends down, unmoving and barely living.
I am your friend? Why?
“Why are you so desperate to have me in your lives?” I ask, as I take out a gun.
Your eyes show no pity nor hatred. Just concern and terror at what I hold.
“Because you matter.” You answered, and now, for sure, I've made my final decision.
I aim the gun to my head as I see the others slowly open their eyes, and my life flashes through my own.
I smile, and shoot.
