It was quiet at the Devil May Cry Office when Nero entered, usually Dante was at the front desk reading a magazine and waiting for the phone to ring for any new clients but that hasn't been the case for a couple of months now since the older devil hunter fell pregnant.
Nero was surprised by the news when Dante told him about the pregnancy because he didn't even know Dante was seeing someone to begin with and when he asked who the lucky guy was Dante told him it was a guy named “Vincent” and he owned the bar across the street from devil may cry.
Nero thought it was a one night stand Dante had with Vincent that resulted in the pregnancy but Dante reassured him that he was seeing Vincent for a while now and he genuinely liked the man.
“The pregnancy was an accident but I don't regret it and Vincent is pretty excited about being a Dad”
Nero remembered Dante telling him after explaining who the father was.
“Now that I'm knocked up and all I'm going to be out of commission until the baby gets here so that means I'm going to be leaving Devil May Cry to you if that's okay?. Morrison will give you a copy of the key to the shop”.
Dante knew Nero was busy with taking care of the orphans at the orphanage with Kyrie back at Fortuna and running the Devil May Cry Fortuna branch with Nico.
It was the reason why Nero and him haven't seen each other in awhile but there wasn't anyone else to take over the shop for him, Vergil was busy being Vergil so he wasn't around most of the time and Lady and Trish had their own business to take care of so Nero really was his best bet.
Luckily Nero was okay with taking over the shop and Kyrie could handle the orphanage on her own and she told Nero before he left to give her baby updates.
Nico came along with him but she chose to stay in the van because she didn't want her smoking to Irritate Dante or harm the baby but she told him she would be working on something for the baby.
So here was Nero getting the shop ready for the day while Dante was on bed rest until the baby was due.
Nero was about to sit on the chair Dante always occupied until he heard a loud yell coming from upstairs, it was Dante.
Nero quickly went upstairs in fear Dante may have been hurt, the older devil hunter couldn't fight back in his condition.
When he opened the door to Dante’s room there was no sign of a demon anywhere, only Dante sitting on a rocking chair and wrapping a band-aid around his thumb.
Nero rushed to Dante’s side.
“Are you okay? Did a demon hurt you? Where is it?!” Nero brought out the Red Queen and looked around the room.
The pregnant devil hunter merely laughs at the younger hunter's protectiveness.
“Relax kid I'm fine I was trying to stitch back together this old big teddy bear I brought a long time ago before the baby gets here but I got pricked.”
Dante showed his pinky finger warped in a band-aid to Nero.
“Oh here's your demon by the way” Dante joked while throwing the needle at Nero which he caught with ease.
“Looks like your stitching skills need a little more practice. I can help with the teddy bear if you want?” Nero said as he sat on the edge of Dante's bed.
Dante gave him a surprised look.
“You know how to stitch? Since when?”
“I grew up in an orphanage. getting new clothes wasn't really an option for me so I had no choice but to stitch up holes every now and then so I'm pretty good with a needle. Now hand over the bear”
He outstretched his hand towards Dante to give him the threadbare teddy bear.
With a Sigh Dante gave the teddy bear to Nero.
Nero quickly went to work on the bear. With Nero occupied with fixing the bear, Dante relaxes a little in the rocking chair. He put his hands around his bump. The baby was moving a lot today.
After a minute of silence Dante spoke up.
“Vincent grew up in an orphanage too. So you have something to talk about with him when you meet him later”
Nero responded with a mumbled “Mm-hmm”.
He was concentrating on fixing the teddy bear. It was for his baby cousin so he wanted it to be perfect. He never thought he would have a cousin during his time in the orphanage.
“It's a girl by the way. I'm going to name her Lilith. Vincent probably will give her a middle name since he got upset that I didn't wait for him to come up with a name for her.”
The Name came to him randomly when he was with Vincent one late night.
“Done!” Nero happily showed off the now repaired teddy bear.
The open stitches on the neck and stomach were now closed up.
Dante got up from his rocking chair to have a closer look at the teddy bear.
“Nice job kid! It looks brand new.”
“Turn it around.” Nero said.
With a raised brow Dante turned the teddy bear around and what he saw made him a little bit emotional.

On the back of the teddy bear words appeared that weren't there before.
It says “For Lilith” engraved on it.
Dante Looked up at Nero with watery eyes.
Nero put his hands up.
“Wait, don't go crying on me now and no hugging me either! Leave that for your baby daddy instead.”
Dante let out a small laugh.
“I wasn't going to hug you, I was going to thank you! Lilith Is going to love this”.
Nero rubbed the back of his neck.
“Ah it was nothing just thought it would be cute for her”.
Dante felt a hard kick in his belly.
“Shit she's a kicker!” Dante put his hand on the spot where the baby kicked.
“This is enough excitement for one day I'm gonna get some rest. wake me up when Vince gets here okay?” He wobbled over to the bed.
Nero gave a nod and proceeded to leave Dante alone to sleep until the older hunter stopped him.
“Thanks again for fixing the teddy bear it means alot to me…well to us” Dante laid his hands atop of his baby bump.
Nero gave him a smile then left the room.
He wasn't going to tell Dante he was excited about having a baby cousin but he knows for sure he will protect Lilith with everything he has.
