They were arguing again. Daniel started the argument by asking to be turned into a vampire.
Daniel had noticed some wrinkles and wanted to be turned before he got too old. I don't want us to have a large age gap, Armand. Turn me before I am old. Daniel demanded.
But Armand couldn't and wouldn't do it. He had thought he had made Daniel see reason. This immortal life wasn't something he wished on anyone.
I won't turn you, Daniel. Armand said.
"If I wasn't a coward, I would have walked into the sun when I could," Armand said
"I love you, Armand," Daniel cried. "I will not grow old alone!" he screamed. "Can't you see, my love, that I don't want to be alone? I can't leave you alone either," Daniel said, pleading with Armand to see his point of view.
Daniel was trying to manipulate Armand with his fear of a world where Daniel was dead and he was left alone again But Armand would rather Daniel be dead than be hated for giving him this immortal curse. Daniel thought it was a blessing, but it was a curse.
Daniel was obsessed with being a vampire it was worse when he was detoxing from all the drugs. And his jealousy of Louie was not helping. Daniel couldn't understand why he still went to Louie. It was hard for Armand to explain that too. Why did he have to be there for Louie at the cost of Daniel? Who wanted to cling on to Armand for fear he would choose Louie over him
Daniel didn't believe Armand's love for him.
Armand's love for Daniel was strong. It scared him how far he would go for Daniel. Sometimes he did want to turn him but the fear Daniel would walk into the sun and leave him stopped him.
Armand was worn out with Daniel's obsession. He feared Daniel would do something drastic and force his hand.
Armand sat on their sofa, his hands covering his tears from Daniel, even though he knew Daniel could hear him sob. He had only one option left. It would destroy him to do it. He loved Daniel too much to be his maker.
"I can't, Daniel," he whispered into Daniel's mind, the words his throat couldn't say.
"Daniel, I won't! Please, beloved it, listen to reason and close that subject forever because I can't do it, not to you," Armand pleaded.
"Then leave me, Armand, because if I can't be with you forever, I can't be with you as a mortal pet," Daniel screamed, giving Armand an ultimatum.
Armand knew Daniel would do anything to be turned, but he hadn't counted on Armand's love for him. He couldn't create more vampires to share in his misery, especially those he loved.
Armand stood up and went to Daniel and looked at Daniel's beauty. His black curly hair, his icy blue eyes, and his skin had a tan on him from all the sitting out on the beach. He was so young to want this truly. It was up to Armand to protect him. "You win, Daniel," he said.
"You'll turn me," Daniel asked, surprised to finally get his way.
Daniel smiled and threw his arms around Armand hugging him and peppered kiss on his face.
You'll see Armand Daniel said It be you and me forever.
Armand pulled himself away from Daniel.
"Go sit on the couch, Daniel, please," Armand ordered.
Daniel eagerly sat down, but Armand took his time, almost willing time to slow down. After a while, he, too, sat next to Daniel.
"Look at me, Daniel," Armand willed Daniel.
He was speaking, not biting him. Daniel thought by the time Daniel realized Armand wasn't going to turn him, it was too late. Armand had control of his body and mind.
"Before I erase our memories, my heart," Armand said, "I want you to know that you deserve to live a normal life. I realize that I shouldn't have been selfish and taken you into my world. You are right; I can't watch you die, but I cannot turn you and then watch you despise this life and then me for creating you. If you only knew how I long to be human with you growing old and grey. I want to be with you. But I am not monstrous enough to make you a vampire, and I know you won't stop, Daniel, you will look for another to turn you. Because you have no fear of our kind and what they could do to you.
I will erase everything you know of this vampiric world, Daniel."
Armand could feel Daniel fighting him in his mind, but it was of no use. Daniel's final words to Armand were "I will hate forever Armand for leaving me. Even if you are erased from my memory, my hate will follow you. I could loved you forever if you had let. I saw the real you and loved you for it but you didn't trust it. So will hate and curse you Armand, " Daniel said
Armand could only say goodbye to Daniel.
Then there was darkness. There would be nothing left of their memories in Daniel's mind. Daniel would wake up in his apartment thinking he went on a bender, with no memory of Armand and their love. Armand couldn't bear to look into Daniel's beautiful blue eyes and see nothing in them. He kissed Daniel and walked out of their apartment. He wouldn't look for Daniel, for fear he would reverse his decision. "I'm alone," Armand thought. "I always end up alone. Loneliness is my destiny."
For the first time in a long time, Armand prayed for Daniel to be well and happy and to find the love he deserved. He hoped they didn't meet again.
