Waking up was easy. Getting up and trying to walk wasn’t, he wasn’t used to human bodies. Even with all the times he had possessed them, it was not used to having his center of balance somewhere else. Gravity was weird as well. Euclidya had none.
That wasn’t what bothered it though. It was the hunger. This raw feeling of pain. He’d felt it all before, had satisfied it with a few solar systems, but he couldn’t do that now. Even though he knew the Axolotl would be watching him, he knew what he needed to do. He waited. Listening for sounds of leaves rustling or a bird chirping. His eyes wide, not used to being in the dark. But then he heard it. The soft crunch of the leaves that had fallen early in the dry Oregon summer.
Looking keenly for the source, crawling on all fours as it was easier than falling on his face. He had his tail but it was strange now that he was almost fully human. Zeroing in on the dormouse that had left its burrow. Small paws went up to his mouth to lick then they were pushed up to its ears, cleaning itself. Looking around every now and then. Just as it was about to go back into its burrow it strikes. Using his legs to push off the ground, holding the mouse tightly in his hands. Which he had just noticed were still darkened from burns. But that didn’t matter now, he was hungry and he could solve it now.
Firstly biting into its neck. Grateful for the food, and quickly starting to rip away the fur from the dormouse. Getting to the innards. Taking his time with the morsel of food. Hands bloodied, but you could barely see it. His face though, blood was dripping down his chin and it coated his tongue. An animalistic scene. But it fulfilled his hunger. It would later try and find another animal, preferably something bigger like a rabbit. For now he settled with trying to find a river to wash off in.
